Qwailo's Repaint: Updated 14/09/07 Cyclonus so far. See Page 13
Damn nice alt mode. And Robot mode. Damn nice all round.
Yarr, Hasbro should be paying attention, release critters like this, instead of the horrors that be all white Primes.

Ok so i wasn't happy with that previous Ultra Magnus and while taking up that Magnus Challenge i had a nervous breakdown and burnt all of my transformers. (not really)
Anyway i'm still gonna do the magnus challenge but its gonna take a lot longer that expected because i've decided to make it a techical marvel and go spend my life on it. So in replacement i have this!
Another repainted and kitbashed Magnus, however this is non-transformable (as i mentioned in another forum) because i wanted the robot mode to be perfect...so no alt-mode, sorry! More pics coming soon.
Coming up next...No not another Magnus! This time Gundam RX-78-2-Titan 1/100 becomes a transformable Classics Cyclonus!
.

I got to work on Classics Cyclonus this week. Heres how he looks so far.
I've learn't from the mistakes i made with Classics Magnus and so far, cyclonus is coming along nicely. I've took an old 1/100 Gundam model kit and sanded down some of the parts, then i added card as templates and because to sculpt the new parts with, of all things...blue-tak. It works quite well, when given a light coat of pva and a base colour, it hardens and becomes a durable yet light texture.
At this stage hes got a white base coat. The face is painted silver already because i needed to work on his head piece. The face now has a nose and mouth (the pics don't really show it, but is there trust me...and i'm proud of it too).
Next i have to work on the wing, which fold away behind his back. Also the nose section comes apart, the top part becomes a sheild and the larger section becomes a cannon...these are new features to cyclonus but something i felt suited him well. These parts haven't been started yet so they are represented by card templates in the picture.
Also enjoy another pic of UM too. Until next time lads.

Looks great so far. It's a simple transformation, but it works fine, and the sculpting looks great, too.
I'm concerned, though, about your materials. Blu-Tac? It might seem durable, but I've tried something similar before, way back when, and it probably won't work out well in the long run. You'd be much better off using a material that actually sets hard, like epoxy putty.

Nah, i've used it many times now on various other things and it lasts forever...being a student i sometimes have to use whatever i can find. Blu-tak should not be under-estimated...it is the ruler of all things crafty.
