An amazing new hope for humanity. I know I'd have a use for this.

My father lost his left leg due to cancer. In his 20's. I've never seen him with two legs in all my life. In my world, dads have one leg. It just goes with the territory.

He skis and mountain bikes. His right calf is f'ing huge. He powers up mountains, like the tortoise. I've seen him do it a million times.

And the funny part is, he wouldn't get a new leg for the world.
Buy my RiD toys! They're awesome, I promise!!!!

Fascinating, I recon that this could also be used to remove nasty scars, facial damage and such.

This would eliminate the need for surgery after accidents.

That might be why the medical community isn't exactly jumping all over this. I mean, think of what this would mean for several fields of medicine that are dedicated to reconstruction after injuries. it'd put them out of business.

Personally, I find this pretty spiffy. In fact, I can't think of too many people aside from these that would find anything bad about it.

Considering where I work I'm glad they've made this breakthrough. After all when you work with machines all it takes is somebody getting stupid and they've lost a limb.

It would be a long while before these projects reach the point where something like a full arm could be done, and even longer before one could be regrown at full capacity. In most known tests, attempts to regrow body tissue work, but are less flexible (example being regrown human skin would be too tight at the knees and elbows). Still, I'm all for Progress and wish to see this line of work continued.

Not to poop on any parties, but regrowing fingertips is not unheard of in humans at all. Many young children can do so by default. It's rare in adults, but it happens, as well.

This is mostly hearsay, but hearing about this did make me recall a story I had heard about a little girl that had kidney failure in both kidneys, had them both removed(I believe it was so she could live a couple days more than she would have with infected kidneys poisoning her), & somehow had a lump of growth form that was doing the function of the missing kidneys. But like I said, it was hearsay, & could very well be one of those made-up stories to make people have stronger belief in miracles.

Very true. but the report stated that the procedure reactivated adult stem cells, which are less common in adults than in young children. There could be a correlation.
