Went to Best Buy today, saw that it's out on DVD.

I'm in the middle of watching it now(taking a quick break.) But it's freakin' awesome.

The cgi work looks grand, and Mark Hammil does a voice in the movie.

agreed, I bought it yesterday at Suncoast for fairly cheap... I was fraking stunned by the soundtrack and the remake of the original theme song. Prague Philharmonic Orchestra was amazing and it synced perfectly. The voices all fit to each personalty, though true to typical Robotech Fashion, people are not going to return for the next stage.

The animation rocked, the battle sequences were off the hook and the twist was something that you would never expect if you never read the comics, even then it comes as a suprise.

I'll be going out to get it tomarrow.

I'll be watching it this afternoon and I can't wait.

Already got it ordered and read for shipping... The soundtrack to Shadow Chronicles was simply amazing.

I got it today at Best Buy before I went to work. It does look great and I can't wait to watch it.

I will definitely be picking this one up soon.

Yes it was, but I'm not too surprised by that.

I'm planning on getting it too, but I'll probably have to wait until next week when I have the money for it. Some of the people on the Macross World forums have posted screen caps, though, and it definitely looks interesting.

while I haven`t seen it yet(2 to 3 weeks shipping time my aft, I`ll check my importstores wednesday)I think that`s the idea seeing as it`s supposed to be the "bridge" between New Generation and Sentinels(which was aborted save for the movie)sides, new characters means new colorschemes and or veritech variations...possibly even brandnew veritech types.(guesswork, I haven`t seen it yet)

I saw it and thought it was great. I am not just looking at the characters in it here. Having Scott in it and even Ariel was cool, but seeing Loui Nichols in it was good to. We saw some of Rick (not enough in my opinion). But I feel that they are using this movie as a spring board to give us a new series. At least that is what I am hoping.

Well try to remember very few of these series focused on the cast from before. Hell Dana Sterling connected the first series with the second because of her name and the first ep, thats about it. The new cast features Mia Sterling as the primary fighter pilot and Marcus Rush as her wing. Kinda like Rick and Max in the first season. Eventually Scott will become an important character again, but not to the extent of the third series. Rick and Max will make a return as the search continues, but I doubt we'll see Lisa or Myria any time soon. According to the comic, Prelude to Shadow Chronicles, Lynn Kyle is dead (great to see on the Second Page of the series) Lisa Hunter is on Tyrol as the human Ambassador, and Max is apart of the SDF-3's command chain. Hell there are even rumors flying about that the reason Dana won't talk to Mia Sterling is because their mother died during child birth.

Honestly...I could tell that it had potential, but the delivery wasn't as complete as it could have been. I was actually ok with the new characters--Maia was forgettable as the tough female fighter jock archetype, and Janice annoyed me, but Marcus and Alex were done well.

As for the animation, most of the CG was good, and certainly told the story--I had a hard time not judging it against Macross Zero, though. The cell animation seemed to waver between excellent and standard, moreso of the latter as the movie went on.

As for the story itself--it feels like they were trying to cover too much ground while allowing for retcons in previous canonical plot points. For example, it would have been cool to see Scott's freedom fighters (all the more so because Lunk's APV is seen at one point). It was a let-down in that we didn't see much of Rick or the SDF-3, which was used as a selling point of the DVD. Ditto the use of the Haydonites as the ones who defoliated the Invid homeworld, which had always been established as being done by the Zentraedi. I know that Harmony Gold can't use any Macross references because of Big West's injunction against them, but still...

That said, however, I bought it, and while I'm ambivalent about it, I can't say that I regret owning it.
