Sky Hammer
- Motto: "Can you change the radio to KZUM, please?"

Okay, I can't be the only one that noticed. I mean, if anyone else HAS noticed, I've never seen or heard anything about it. Dark Steel is supposed to be an homage to Quickstrike, right? Wouldn't make sense (even MORE sense?) that Sky Hammer is an homage to the Fuzor Air Hammer?! I mean, the colour scheme matches. And the head mold matches even more than the Dark Steel head. I mean... The names alone!.... And.... It IS Beast Wars' 15th anniversary.

Re: Sky Hammer
I actually always suspected Sky Hammer was a homage to Optimus Primal, based on his alt-mode (blades, a-la swords), the head (VERY primal/monkey like if you look closely, though the paint apps fail in that dept) and the overall look of the figure, including monkey-like proportions in the chest and arms and the fact that he has sort of "Prime Jets" on his shoulders that point back when you turn his arms into the classic Optimus Primal "Superman" position, plus the white areas on the shins that somewhat evoke the look of Primal's white pistons and such along with the cannons on his arms, which again, is accurate to the show-model for season 1 Optimus Primal.
It reminded me so much of Primal that I actually modified my Sky Hammer to be a pre-Beast Wars Optimus Primal and he looks pretty good, though I did swap out the head with the head from a Telemocha Optimus Primal (couldn't get the colors to look right on the original Sky Hammer head due to the limited number of paints I own so it seemed to be a simpler solution), then I applied a few paint apps to the rest of the figure (very minor red details added here and there to evoke his robot mode look from the show) and he really looks great. You can even remove the blades from him and use 2 of them as swords in his hands if you wish (though he doesn't hold them that well since they aren't intended to be used that way, but they do just snap on and off so it doesn't break the figure to remove them).

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come.
And you will know my name is MEGATRON when I lay my vengeance upon you!

Pretty good resemblance that I never noticed. The very white color scheme, the similar head though the paint is a little off from the Fuzor, the 3 clawed toes. The shiny blue on the chest. Yeah I could see this as a Sky Hammer homage.
With that said, what's the deal with homaging BW Fuzors all of a sudden?
I know its the 15 anniversary of Beat Wars but still homaging Fuzors?

Re: Sky Hammer
I'd be surprised if it were intentional. Hasbro made it pretty clear that Dark Steel was a homage, but they never mentioned anything about The Hammer. Still, it's interesting.

Me too. With so many designs used it's hard to be completely original, so unintentional "throwbacks" like this happen.

Quite. I remember when his head was first seen people were saying he might be an Ultra Magnus homage...

I like to think that DOTM Voyager size Sky hammer is a homage to year 2005 Cybertron earth planet key leader "EVAC" or in japan known as live convoy. Because both toys have optimus prime styled heads & both are helicopters.
I'm not that fond of the white robot head color on the DOTM voyager Skyhammer toy. I bought a box of grey RIT color dye & tried to color dye the white head grey. it didn't work due to the shinny plastic on the toy.
I'm kinda hoping DOTM Skyhammer gets a repaint so I can take that head off & put it on my skyhammer toy. hopefully the 2nd robot head is colored grey or black. hopefully it's not green nor red,nor yellow.

I know, I know. I remember, I was one of the ones that hoped it was an Ultra Magnus. But, now, given Dark Steel, I can't help thinking that it's supposed to be Air Hammer. If this is the case then I am anxious to see if we get anymore Beast Wars homages.
