Activision has announced the next Spider-man game called Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. It will be set within the comic's version of the Spider-Man's world and as such you'll run into comic characters like Luke Cage and the Kingpin.
It uses an upgraded version of the engine from the previous games, with new emphasis on vertical combat where you can fight up or down the walls of buildings and end up fighting on the roof of them. How you play will also effect the ending, effecting which heroes will stand beside you at the end and whether or not the common people will like you or hate you.

The Basic story is "New York has been invaded by something very bad, resulting in a cataclysmic event that has rocked city leaders to the point of declaring martial law. Other heroes are gathering uptown to protect civilians, while villains are grouping downtown to repel the aggressors. And Spidey? He has to sort it all out, of course."

So, something happens in 13 days according to the website.

Hm, I dunno, the last good Spider-man game was Ultimate Spider-man, this one, yeah it just looks like symbiotes invade new york, infect people, blah blah blah.

If it's based on the current comic continuity, that means no Eddie Brock /Venom.

That also means the story and continuity itself is going to be so mucked up that the game will be barely playable storywise.

I hope this doesn't suck.
