Well, I was completely shocked to find out that this was coming out today (I hadn't seen any advertisements or info until the season finale of Atlantis...could've received better advertising Sci-Fi!) and of course, I went right out and bought it.
Season 10 was quite lackluster, this is true...but this film more than made up for it.
To say it was excellent, is an understatement. The overall experience was just incredible. The sets, special effects, all of it had a bigger budget and it shows.
I was expecting something craptastic when I heard they'd be coming direct to DVD (Ark Of Truth, Continuum) but I was pleasantly surprised and glad I was wrong.
IF you're a Stargate fan, this is a must own. If you're a science fiction fan, a must watch (perhaps must own).
I hope they continue to make the movies, I really do, because this is where the cast really shines. 108 minutes compared to a full season...and the 108 minutes of material is better than anything the last season had.
I can't even begin to say how good this film is...go get it people.
If we support this and the next film, maybe..just maybe they'll continue the film series.
...we can hope...right?

I actually watched it over the weekend. Yes, I downloaded it, mostly because I have no idea when it'll be released in Australia.
I don't really share A032's enthusiasm. Sure, the special effects were better, but only slightly. The sets, particulary those on Daakara (sp) seemed even more fake than the tv series.
The story it's self was a bit rushed. I thought the two movies would wrap up the season 10 "cliffhanger" but instead it was done in this movie.
It felt full of plot holes and like they tried to squeeze too much into 108 minutes. By the time the 108 mins were over it felt a little anti-climatic, mostly because I was amazed one Earth ship could get deep into Ori territory and put a team onto THE Ori planet. Not to mention how four people can wander through the main temple to the main room to find a virtually unguarded Ark and then use it to save the day.
Did I enjoy it though? Yes. But it was evident the Ori story could have done with a whole season rather than a movie to wrap it up.

Just finished watching the Ark of Truth.
It was a good movie, but they did in what equates to 2 episodes, what should have been the 10th season finale.

I just finished it myself. that frakking rocked!!!!! I was geeked about this movie since the season 10 finale. It totally lived up to my expectations and has made my day!
It feels like the true season 10 finale. Bring on Continuum!!!!!
the effect of the bridge passing through the supergate event horizon was so cool.

Re: Stargate The Ark Of Truth
I watched it, and while it was a fun and enjoyable watch, it smacked of being a rehash of old SG1 Episodes like Lost City and The Quest.
SG1 are on under iminent threat of destruction, the only thing that can save them is some Deus Ex Machina device that we spend the whole episode looking for.
We almost get to use it then things are really taken close to the wire but one of the team or an ally comes through at the last minute, everyone pulls together and we use said device to save the universe.
Not bad, but not original and the plot became very predictable in lots of places.
I'm hoping for more from continuum as its in a different timeline so who knows what can happen?
