TFC Toys Project Uranus (Superion) Updates
Re: TFC Toys Project Uranus (Superion) Updates
If the 6th member is meant to hold kibble or forms a gun or something (like Piranacon), then ... okay. I'm not totally sold on this guy, but okay.
If he's a major part of the Combiner, then he's just not Superion enough for me and I'll pass without regrets. If people want a Sixwing, that's cool. But I'm in this (potentially) for a Superion.

I've decided to dump my preorders on the Uranus figs until I get a better look at the whole thing. With Menasor, Computron, and (most likely) Predaking showing up in scale with the existing combiners, it's kind of hard to justify this.

As much of a fan I am of (a modified) Hercules, I wouldn't be heartbroken if TFC sinks. Their continued diviations make their otherwise fantastic projects not worth buying at their top end prices. It's a little sad because they have the potential to be the best 3rd Party group out there, but they keep throwing head scratching curve balls in their work that all but ruins it. If they want to be original and creative, great, then friggin' do it and quit making HasTak characters. Otherwise just do the damn things right.

Oh, I'll be quite happy if they keep chugging along. More choice is always a good thing. I just can't think of any of their products that I've "needed". Hercules was the first I was going to pounce on, but I like the look of Giant better, and it's cheaper.
TFC seem to do a lot right with their products, but then go and make some really strange choices about stuff that either makes other products a better deal, or makes me wait for some imaginary stuff that's not even been announced, or rumoured, just because their stuff is "not quite right".
They also seem to have announced about, oooh, roughly a million products, and we've seen one project fully completed. With a fair few teething problems along the way. Like I say, I like the variety of choice, but I've yet to buy something from TFC.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

They made battle rollar. I bought it coz I was really into Mass effect at the time and it reminded me of the buggy, but the figure sucked, so i repackaged it and sold it back to the store

Hmm, a six member team of Aerialbots is not the team of Aerialbots that I wanted.
Ever since this project was revealed I've disliked the fact that TFC have used the same model of aircraft as the G1 originals i.e. ancient junkers. I was going to say that assuming the new silhouette represents Silverbolt (and his being a Blackbird as opposed to Concorde), TFC are obviously willing to change things around so why keep the four fighters faithful to G1 in the first place? However, the confirmation of six members kind of surpasses that particular complaint.
It appeared TFC were going for a faithful re-imagining of the G1 Aerialbots and now (please forgive the puns) they've dropped the bomb that they're basically just winging it. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them turned out to be a helicopter, space shuttle or a goddamn kite.
The black wings of Phantom, the poorly designed nose of Eagle, and the toy accurate heads all go against Uranus in my book, which is a shame as I think the transformations possibly make these the best aeroplane transformers ever made.
Bottom line: I'm fairly certain I'm out.

I'm not exactly rooting for them to fail...at least not to a point that sinks them, but I would like them to get it through their thick heads if they're going to be a '3rd Party' company to do the stuff right or don't bother.

This thread makes me appreciate the FP Stunticons that much more; totally modern redos of a classic gestalt team. And it's still a proper five member team too!
Oh, and I can afford them.

Re: TFC Toys Project Uranus (Superion) Updates
I think people are over reacting about the 6 robots, I'm sure they have a cool reason for it. Maybe the chest plate makes up another robot or something really clever like that?
As long as you get the original 5, and the combined form looks G1 then who cares, right? ...the 6th robot can be just extra "body armor" then..so what?
I will say though, I'm not sure how Superion is going to look with such big bots similar to Hercules though...might wind up being too chunky especially with 6.
Someone on TFW pointed out there are a couple other members of the Arielbot team in the comic books? seems as good a reason as any?

Now that I've had time to digest this information and see the posts reguarding this project....
We simply just don't know at this point what the outcome is going to be. Look at the facts, and therefore likely senarios.
The first two pieces we have been shown, clearly represent "Air Raid" and "Fireflight". We have been shown coloring, or what will be close to final coloring, which further prove what they are intended to be. Also, we have been shown what part they play in the larger combined figure, Air Raid left leg, Fireflight right arm. This is right on so far. This would suggest that this will at least somewhat resemble "Superion".
Now comes the news that there will be 6 figures and there is a form of the next character.
6 figures throws us all for a loop how, where, what, etc... we just don't know. The form is clearly a SR-71, there was no such Aerialbot character, who is this? The robot form suggests Silverbolt could be a possiblity given its stance. It was more likely thought it was Silverbolt before the confirmation of 6 figures, which would make sense, but if there is 6, it very well may not be. In the TFC Toys facebook page, when looking at the SR-71 form, it looked to me like a wing shape underneath the plane itself. Could this be a chest shield? Another character? It's all speculation with the latest information. Tell you what, TFC Toys is keeping everyone wondering. Is it genius?

Re: TFC Toys Project Uranus (Superion) Updates
I don't think anyone is overreacting. It's just that TFC seems so close to getting things right and then ... failing. It's disappointing. The draw of this guy is that he's more G1 than FP upgraded Superion, basically. If that's not what they're giving us by adding an essential 6th member, then ... what's the point?
It's the same with Reflector. Everything is just about perfect, but the heads are so far off I just can't replace PE's Reflector. Then you got individual Herc guys. Their faces are so off it bugs people. Their aborted attempt at the Dinos? Same deal. They got the overall look right, but th eheads and color choices made it go from a sweet deal to sour grapes. It's consistant with TFC! Other 3rd party guys have this problem too (thinking Fansprojects here), but we aren't paying out the ass for a set there.

Yeah I worry about the long-term prognosis of TFC, I really do. What with toys that seem a bit too large to complement existing combiners (3rd party or otherwise) and the extra cost associated with that strategy, it seems they are intent on narrowing their market. Add to this their insistance on changes which are not warranted (ie a 6th aerialbot) they really are isolating themselves. I doubt anyone will pre-order limbs until they see the whole combiner now. Strange decisions happening there.

Re: TFC Toys Project Uranus (Superion) Updates
I couldn't care less... 5 bots, or six... as long as it kicks arse. That is... as long as the price is reasonable...
They're targeting the hardcore fans with this & making the price excessively high ($600!!!)... at that point it definitely should be "G1 or GTFO".
If they want to kinda "do their own thing"... they're going to have to scale-down a bit to make prices slightly more reasonable to appeal to more fans. They got lucky with Hercules... hordes have been clamoring for a decent Devastator for years... but I personally feel they're really pushing the boundaries with this. They really need to drop the Voyager-sized/priced scale...

At this point I don't think they can.
To the people buying TFC the larger scale is an important draw. If they drop the scale they are then in direct competition with the other companies, and the existing Superion.
I don't even have the FP add on kit for superion, I just used their transform, picked up a mix of the Energon and Universe releases for color, and added a set of G1 Bruticus hands, Boom, instant gee-wunny colored Superion.
But, I'm willing to shell out for a "proper" version of the character, but for that kind of $$$ it has to be done "right". Right, IMO, means 4 limb-bots and a larger (and I'm willing to accept more expensive) central bot.
For me, Hercules got it right, so I'm giving the benefit of the doubt. But if they do a Sixwing version of the character, that could blow it for me.
Now, they COULD do 2 versions of Superion. Building up the chest and torso, like Herc, from 2 bots, and also make a larger single bot that is the core. They created the add on kit for Herc based on the fan reaction. And while a $200-ish bot is not an add on kit ... who knows.
As many have stated, it's all speculation at this point.

I'm not real happy that the 6th member talk has officially been confirmed. But, I'll reserve my judgement until I see how TFC handles it.
