Jak, I was 19 or 20 and a sophomore in college when I ordered that Han. I'ts funny, I always remember you are older than you actually are. I'm about 8 years older than you, so you were around 12 when all that was going down.

What year did Beast Wars start? '96?
When did Cybertron start? '06/'07?

CRAM! What's your story?

That reminds me, Cobro...!! Back in '96 I was finishing my freshman year in college, and eBayed my first TF -- a loose, complete Snaptrap with all accessories. That had been my first TF since '86 or so, as I had always thought the Seacons were cool.

Speaking of which, I am hoping combiners aren't completely done coming out -- I want new molds and the other combiners!

Your very first eBay purchase! Another good one!

I made an eBay account when I was prbably 12 or 13? All you needed was a credit card to verify age, and I paid for stuff my mail in money orders. First thing I bought was a Takara BW Tigatron 8-}

really long story short:

Movie 1 from 2007 got me into the franchise.

RotF leader Prime and Jetfire got me hooked.

Cram buddy I missed your thread. Any new hauls to speak of?

Great topic, Shaj! I almost can't answer it, as I never really sarted collecting as an adult, I just continued my teenage collecting. I've been working pretty much full time since I was 16 years old (back in '96) and as such, I've had a decent amount of disposable income for a very long time.

Anyway, my collecting as and "adult" started not with Transformers, but with Star Wars. The old Micro Masters Action Fleet line to be exact. Also got pretty heavy into the Power of the Force line. I, too, remember getting those Han and Luke stormtrooper figures, thought I don't remember exactly how, aside from some sort of mail in. I don't have my Action Fleet stuff anymore, I lost it all in one of my moves back in the day, but I do still have all of my PotF figures in deep storage. Ah, the memories.

I dabled a bit in Beast Wars at this time, but kinda ignored the line as I took the "truck, not monkey" line of thought at the time, and never gave it a chance. Honestly, I only bought Transmetals Rhinox and Waspinator at the time because I liked the vehicle alt modes. Man, I'd like to go back twenty damn years and kick some since into teenage me. So Transformers wasn't on my radar at all.

Then one day, while picking up my weekly pull list at my comic shop, the cover of a Toyfare issue caught my eye (for another toy, I forget what), and I picked it up. Inside was an article on the upcoming RiD cartoon and toyline. Goddamn, but I was sold in a heartbeat. I asked Casey (dude who owned the comic shop) if he was going to get these toys, and he said yeah, so I had him hold the figures from his first shipment for me.

What were those figures? RiD (2001 for the kids in the room) Leader class Optimus PRime and Ultra Magnus. Man, let me tell you just how freaking awesome these figures were to a young nerd who had virtually ignored Transformers for the last decade or so. I made it a point to record the cartoon, got all the figures, discovered Beast Wars on Foxkids reruns and I've been pretty much all in ever since. Granted, after revenge of the Fallen came out, I reduced my collecting to mainly Masterpiece figures, but I really haven't stopped collecting Transformers since 2001.

One day I may grow up, but don't hold your breath. ;)

According to Merriam Webster:
Merriam Webster wrote:1
a : to grow toward or arrive at full stature or physical or mental maturity : to progress from childhood toward adulthood growing up intellectually grew up in the city; also : to become an adult She wants to be a doctor when she grows up.
b : to stop thinking or behaving in a childish way He should grow up and accept his responsibilities.
2
: to begin to exist and develop as time passes A number of cities grew up along the river.

Then again, this same dictionary also has words like selfie, so the reliability and skewed to societal standards is present.

Besides, you only grow old because you stop playing ;)

Again with the Star Wars
Action Fleet was THE BEST. I had almost none of them, but last year I eBay'd the Toyfare Dagoba X-Wing cause I wanted it forever. Felt good 8-)

I ignored the first Wave of BW, because I honestly thought it was a copycat or knockoff of Transformers. By the time I saw the show, Wave 2 or 3 was out and it was tough as hell to find my now beloved Dinobot.

Toyfare was amazing. I looked forward to that more than my weekly comics. Did you know that the guy that answered fan letters, and wrote Twisted Mego Theater was Tom Root, one of the creators and writers of Robot Chicken?

Ehrmahgerd. How'd I miss all of this?! :-(

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Obviously I loved me some Transformers when I was a kid, and had them all the way through and including Actionmasters and Micromasters. I never parted ways with them, but at some point TMNT and G.I. Joe entered the fray in the late '80s early '90s. Then, I played a lot of soccer, lacrosse, tennis, golf so collecting took a back seat until I saw the G2 bots at Service Merchandise. Picked up Jazz. Then hiatus..then KB Toys always seemed to have stuff for cheap! I don't really remember picking up any additional G2 or Machine Wars stuff, of which I have the regrets.

Then I got a "real job" at Walmart when I was in high school, right around the time Beast Wars was still a thing. I purchased both Transmetal Optimus and Megatron, but didn't like either for whatever reason. Returned them, and bought Optimal Optimus. No regrets. :-D

Pretty sure I watched Robots in Disguise, but I was really in to comic books and video games at the time. Thanks to comics, I subscribed to all of the Dreamwave Transformers stuff at my local comic shop and still have the first print full run of all of their series. I'd say that's when I reaaaaaaaaally got the collecting bug. TRU MP01, Alternators got me really excited, picked up Energon Hot Shot, Rodimus, Galvatron, then Cybertron didn't do much for me for some reason I guess due to Classics happening. I've purchased at least one figure from every line since and haven't really taken any breaks other than waiting for the next figures in the lines

As for hauls D-Max, nothing really yet! Did I show everyone my TR Sharkticons and Kickback? Probably. I've been going through my display and extra bins to find figures that I like or want to part ways with. Currently, I have Movie Premium Bumblebee (with Dark of the Moon deluxe Bumblebee's head on him) and TRU MP Bumblebee at the office with me. Both are fun toys, although there's a LOT of sloppy paint on this Premium Bumblebee.

That's actually something I've noticed lately, sloppy paint apps. Maybe because I've been playing around with Apollyon a lot and he's pretty dang awesome (especially with my custom face paint) all around. I've transformed him a bunch lately, at least once back and forth a day for the last week. No paint issues on mine. I like nice paint. I've even been trying to figure out some paint to add to some figures I've been going through!!

Waiting for Last Knight leader Megatron and deluxe new Bumblebee, as well as Movie MP Bumblebee.

Hey, man ignore and email for a week and a thread blows up.

I used to pick up a lot of McFarlane figures and what ever else caught my eye when I was a young adult. I took a big break after getting married cause of funds, space and that weird "adulting" thing that you guys were talking about.

WfC Bumblebee and the TF Prime figures dragged me in to the rabbit hole that I currently live in.

After college and in the working world, circa 2004 (?), I came across a small import toy store in downtown PDX -- it's where I got my Megatron G1 re-issue. You'd think that woulda kick-started the collecting again, but it didn't! I was still too busy gaming with every second of free-time I had.

For. Real.
D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Cram buddy I missed your thread. Any new hauls to speak of?
About that..apparently I haven't been updating all of you on the stuff and things!! So here we go!

Image
He's pretty cool!! I thought I had pictures of him here at the office but apparently not. He's out of box and living life!! Smoked wings?! G1 details?! AWESOME!!

Found these kids at Five Below! They were actually only $3 a piece!!
Image
And then I ordered Kickback and Gnaw on Amazon, only to find Kickback and Gnaw at Walmart the next day! So I picked up an additional Gnaw, and now my Insecticons are complete!
Image

Rogue One also happened.
Image

You may have heard me mention Apollyon. I've since changed his metal logo on his chest, which came up on the side and stabbed me like a jerk!!
Image

Image
See? Much nicer. He's got a few panel gaps in gun mode, but sweet mercy do I love this guy when it all comes together.

Last week?
Image
That's a big box. I have Breath of the Wild on Wii U, but I purchased the digital copy so I missed out on the fun stuff. Well, they didn't actually have any fun stuff for the Wii U version so I ordered the box/map/coin/soundtrack of the Switch SE version off of the good old eBay. $30 shipped wasn't bad! Boy do I love that game..and for everyone that cares, here's a comparison shot of my Wii U console with my niece and nephews Switch.
Image
Image

And here's yesterday. Today I swapped out AoE deluxe Bumblebee for TRU MP Bumblebee. I've also placed DotM deluxe Bumblebee's head on that Movie Premium Bumblebee. I think it looks nice.
Image

So there's the update.

Bodrock, I STILL kick myself for not picking up that Collection Megatron!! All of those Collection re-issues were pretty dang awesome, Starscream is still on the top of my list though!!

Apollyon looks very impressive, Cram! With that WeiJiang OS Megatron coming up, I hope they incorporate some of his mojo in their final design.....

As a hardcore fan of handhelds, I gotta have the Switch! I'm just waiting for more of my must-have JRPGs to appear, or at least be announced. There's also the fact that the Switch is scarce, much like the NES Classic. What Nintendon't do is meet demand. :/

Besides Megs, we also picked up the Collection reissues of Prowl and Tracks, iirc - but Megs remains unopened....the box has seen a bit of sunshine and rough-handling, however.

Why is Hunt for the Decepticons Battle Blade Bumblebee so expensive?! I mean, I have Human Alliance Bumblebee from Revenge of the Fallen, but I'd really like a deluxe design (that isn't a remold/tool) from that movie!
bodrock wrote:Apollyon looks very impressive, Cram! With that WeiJiang OS Megatron coming up, I hope they incorporate some of his mojo in their final design.....
Oh he definitely is!! Except for his feet..and you know, I don't even mind the leg kibble that much!

What's really nice about the Switch? Region free! And yeah, Nintendon't indeed!!

I only picked up Hot Rod, as all I had left of my G1 was his guns and spoiler!! :-( Wouldn't have minded getting Prowl, or Sideswipe, or any of the other ones that I have as G1 that have seen better days..someday!!

I like the figure, but didn't like the head on it. So DotM works well!!
I will agree with you that the head was a weak point. But I did get the one in that Bumblebee 3-pack that had the facemask and premium paint, so he is still really good looking!
I think the paint on my battle mask wasn't great, so I went searching for which head would work best
The figure still was a great mold though, despite what anyone will tell me! Best looking of the molds so far really

till the mpm comes out.

If we requote long enough, does a black hole form. Yeah I'm in for leader Megs and a soft maybe on Movie MP Bee. I thought there was already a MMP Bee years ago or am I just crazy or thinking king of a different mold (like leader or some other size class).

There was a previous MP 'Bee, a redeco of that...uh...Guardian Bumblebee?...the big one with the shoulder guns and flip-down mask from RotF. That one.
