The Incredible Change Bots!!!

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

The Incredible Change Bots!!!

Postby Supreme Convoy » Mon Apr 30, 2007 12:44 am

:BOT: Being a comic book geek, I'm always interested in what the indie comic scene has. And this caught my attention: The Incredible Change Bots!!!

I usually like Top Shelf Comix and this looks in the same style of James Kochalka's American Elf.

I'll pick this up :) :CON:

It looks like a really bad Transformers rip off or Gobots. It seems all they do is stand up rather than transform.

To be fair, some of the older transformers were not exactly complex. You could argue that the first season mini-bots meerly "stood-up" to Transform.

But they do resemble GoBots more than transformers, but some GoBots looked a lot better. Interesting, but certainly not something I'd get.

Yeah but the animators actully added some style to them. The drawing on the cover have no style, just look like you pull the arms and legs out and boom, it's a robot. The truck one even has his face on the hood of his vehicle mode.

I agree it does look like something a kid drew. At least it's not as bad as that cartoon that's nothing but stick figures and looks like it was drawn by preschoolers.

It looks like it was done by an Australian artist/musician known as Reg Mombassa.

Them change bots are pretty incredible.

If it weren't $15.00 i'd pick it up, but thats a little pricey for mediocre art and probably a horrible story line.

Parodies like "Optical Mime" and "Stumbledee"?

Yeah, although actual jokes would be nice, too. Personally, I understand and appreciate that it's a parody. As long as it isn't just a kiddy-drawn knock off and is actually funny. I'm not familiar with Top Shelf, but it would've helped if the preview page was one with some substance; there isn't even a classic one-liner there.
It's actually pretty well-drawn for the style - actually it sort of reminds me of Lew Stringer's Robo-Capers (one of the backup strips in the old UK TF comics). But at $15, that page isn't close to enough to sway me.
