The internet is The Matrix
That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Board Poster, MMO Player, Transfan, Anime Freak, Hardcore Gamer. The very minds of the people we are trying to save . . . You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
Yeah, we are slave to the virtual. Im not saying internet is bad. No, internet is usefull and allow us to find information. Its good. Message Board are ok, i suppose. The problem is we can become addicted. Not only to MMO, but to the internet itself.
I am, and i KNOW! Thats why im picking the "Red Pill". I slowly disconnecting. Its gonna be hard. Of course, i will still post here and play Urban Dead.
The internet is not a bad thing. Its one of mankid most brillant invention. But, look at what it is turning into.
Im so used to look at this board. Its stupid ad located at the right of the page, the Transformer Emoticon, the "submit" button...Its not real. In this place, we talk. Wheter its Movie Bashing or constructive comment, it does not matter. I realised this website is just line and line of programming. Ok, thats does no seem too bad, its just a website and a message board. Not that worst. But it DOES creep me out!
Lets take a WOW or Everquest player as an example. This guy just found a "Uber Pwning Sword of Nooblet Slaying". Sure, badass weapon. Hard to find. This guy has played over 100 hour to find it. But its just line and line of programming.
The problem is, we are slowly losing ourselves. When i look at [Insert user name here] avatar, what do i see? This person. But who is REALLY [Insert user name here]. The avatar is but an IMAGE. A fake self. Internet is full of anonymous person.
Ok, im a high-shool guy from Québec. BUT, do you ahve any proof. Maybe im an obese, facist, 56 year old fat couch potato who live in Manitoba! Even if its false, what proof do you have?
Maybe i don't exist. I my only be a line of program myself...

Pffff, if the Matrix was real. Every video-gamer, comic-book geek and fanboy, upon finding out, would instantly become "The One."
But it is a good point. How to we know someone is really who they say they are? On the internet you can never tell. It requires a certain degree of trust.
Also, on the whole Wow thing, it's more luck than anything. You want Uber-sword, you may get it on your first try, or 100th try.

I never said we WHERE in the Matrix. I just said the internet is somewhat like it. And the sword-thing is just an example.
I mean, everything we see on the internet is fake. EVERY single thing we see is just a written code.

Oh I know, I just say that every time someone makes a thread that mentions the Matrix.
And I know what you mean, we're typing in something that isn't real, well it's real, just not physically real.
Like I said, people on the internet may be lying their asses off, they may say they're one thing when they aren't. The internet requires a certain degree of trust. You trust what they say and move on, or don't give it a thought and move on.
However, you can discern whats real and whats fake from people if you've seen them post long enough and all that other stuff. It takes awhile, but barring talking to them on a daily basis, it can be done.

Wanna be freaked out entirely ?
Nothing is real.
Our senses are not absolute. They are merely giving you an individual representation of surrounding molecules... the very thing you are.
Solid isn't really solid. It's just not loose enough to notice. Cold and warm mean nothing, as you can only interpret it from a very limited relative point. You don't really see anything except the way light behaves when it hits things. You don't hear anything but air.
Perception is absurd.

Perhaps aour dreams are actually reality.
Perhaps reality is actually our dreams.
There is no way to know.
Sometimes people simply vanish into thin air. Sometimes people mysteriously go missing for a period of time and eventually appear again. Maybe that period of time is when they are awake.
There are known instances when 2 people have the same dream, often seeing each other in it. It has happened to me. In a dream, I interacted* with a person in a specific way in a specific setting. The other person also dreamed that they interacted* with me in the same way in the same setting.
Perhaps we really do go to a common place when we dream. And perhaps that place is the true reality.
*Don't get the wrong idea sickos. I just don't remember exactly what it was but I remember that the other person dreamed the same thing.

Im not big on online gaming, its pointless, I go on forums to express opinions but thats it. WOW isnt even that good, the only reason it is successful is because its online. Its shiite. TES4 Oblivion is better, ground breaking A.I., better graphics and combat and magic system, totally moddable. But it isnt online so its not considered "as good" as WOW. Plus, people on WOW are all nerds who hide behind a mighty internet avatar to compensate for what they dont have.
The internet itself is excellent, but its usage is wrong.
