Well, I'm officially planning a road trip on July 25th. Its about a 7 hour car ride...but its well worth it. I'm going to Philadelphia to see Dragon Gate USA's debut show!!!
I've waited forever to see people like Dragon Kid, CIMA, Yoshino, and Naruki Doi in person. I am so excited!!!

I am wondering if there really is any point to having a WWE draft. They all end up on other shows anyways. I just feel it is a waste of time. Unfortunately at this point in my life I am exclusively into WWE. My girlfriend will not allow me to watch anything else. She now after 2 years enjoys WWE but with all my other interests there is not enough time for her stuff and other wrestling promotions.

HE'S BACK and not as the Curry Man or as Suicide but as God's true gift to pro wrestling THE FALLEN ANGEL CHRISTOPHER DANIELS!! I'm now VERY excited about Lockdown 2009!
I have to agree with Lance Storm (who has been very harsh about TNA Impact in the past) last night's Impact was awesome. You had great wrestling, promos, shocks, turns, surprises, and humor. All the storylines and angles made sense and makes Lockdown feel like a major event. I can't remember the last time I every 100% enjoyed a wrestling show from any promotion and really excited to see a PPV.

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
I just bought the new dvd, "Greatest Stars of the 90s" and I must say, I was impressed. They covered the 90s for all 3 promotions very well, though a lot of it was about the WWF, which is a bit biased. But the match list is really cool. There are aquite a few matches that I remember that were very good. The program is about 2 hrs 10 min, and there are 15 matches on there, 4 from WCW and 11 from WWF. no ECW.
That's alright, I grew up in the 90s watching wrestling, and this really took me back a bit. I highly recommend it, especially if you became a wrestling fan in the 90s.

Lashley crossed the line
Great pay per view though. The ending was a little disappointing. I didn't want Foley to win and didn't see how it made any sense for him to win. But whatever I guess. Awesome match

Yup, he debuted after the Lethal Lockdown match. The lights went out and music started playing and it focused in on the stage. Then out walks Lashley. Kurt Angle was smiling and laughing about it and Jarrett said "what the ****?!" so I'm assuming that Lashley is with the Mafia.

Guess the MMA stuff didnt pan out for him.
As much as there is stuff for ppl to like about tna, they go and do stuff like bringing in every wwe castoff they can and give Mick the belt?
Deja Vu!! If they go any further into the 90's I'll be back in High School

Does anyone else think that Kurt no-sold Lashley's appearance? I think he was supposed to give the same OMGWTF reaction as Jarrett, but decided to Shockmaster-ize Lashley. Maybe Kurt isn't the consummate professional and has something against Black Lesnar?

A man has got to eat.
He was wanting an UFC contract and Dana White has made it clear he has no interest in Lashley. So what is he suppose to do starve himself while waiting for his next MMA fight? Plus also given TNA's light schedule he can still pursue his MMA career and still work in TNA.
As much as there is stuff for ppl to like about tna, they go and do stuff like bringing in every wwe castoff they can and give Mick the belt?
IMHO Lashley has more value than someone like Taz, namely because he can wrestle and all Taz can do is either be a manager or be a commentator and TNA already has two great comentators with Tenay and West.
Foley winning the belt makes sense because: it puts him on collision course with both Jarrett and Angle for control over TNA. Plus throw in Sting, Joe, Daniels, Lashley, Hernandez, and Styles it makes more an explosive World Heavyweight title picture.

It may make the title scene more explosive as you say, but it does the same thing that people saw wwe does when they shift the belt around so much. It demeans it and makes it just a prop. A guy thats been retired for 5+ years as a full time wrestler becomes champ over the 50 year old active wrestler.
Since I don't watch tna full time i may be missing something but to me it still reaks of WcW.

From what I have seen, it is pretty much the same: the old main event guys write the storylines, and put themselves in the best situations. I am not really including Foley, but I wouldn't put it past him. And also, is it just me, or is the 6-sided ring really DUMB?

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
6 sided Ring makes it more innovative. All Wrestling Companies had 4 sided Ring, which made it a Bitt Cliche.Angle's match vs Daniels was Good. Wonder why they didnt want Lashley in UFC. Maybe he aint much of a Real Fighter. But I am glad that Lashley is in TNA. That should really make things interesting. But I think he will turn on MEM eventually.

I think the only good purpose a 6-sided ring would have is it would give more room in battle royals. Other than that, if TNA wants to be taken as somewhat serious compettiton to WWE, they need to have a setting most fans are used to. And the ring is the #1 setting for wrestling.

Smackdown is the only thing I can watch so the Draft is kinda important.
Good things: We lose HHH, We got Morrison, got CM Punk, we got Rey right?, got Kane.
Bad things: Lost MVP, lost the Colons.

Maybe. I cant watch Smackdown. Only Raw, TNA, and ECW, and recently, WWE Superstars. I hate the fact that Kane vent to Smackdown. Rey, thats an acceptable loss. HHH .....doesnt matter whether he is on Smackdown or Raw. I was hoping Undertaker would go to Raw.I am kinda glad that Kozlow vent to ECW. Oh by the way, Kozlow in Russian means Ram.

KOZLOV came from a word that meant goat.
Last night my friend and I began watching The Best of Saturday Night's Main Event. I have got to say that for the most part, it sucked. There were a few gems, but for the most part I had to force myself to stay awake.
Matches that are worth watching on Disc 1:
Jake the Snake Roberts vs Ricky the Dragon Steamboat- Great match, but short.
Macho Man Randy Savage vs Jake the Snake Roberts- Pretty good match, especially if your a Savage or Snake fan.
A battle royal from SNME March 14th 1987- I wasn't a fan of many people in the match itself, but after Andre and Hogan got eliminated I was really intrigued because I had no idea who would win.
Hart Foundation vs The British Bulldogs- I was let down by the bullshit reason the belts didn't change hands, but the match itself was phenomenal.
Randy Savage vs Bret Hart- Another great match with Savage and Hart.
Disc 2 should be melted down...
We haven't watched Disc 3 but its match listing sounds promising.
I'm hoping that either him or I come across the Greatest Stars of the 90s before the next time we hang out.

Six sides don't make it look professional. As "professional" as wrestling is anyway... Still, it looks more like a sideshow, which is what TNA will always will be to the WWE as long as they have that ring.

The six sided ring is used a lot in Mexico, that is where they got it. So they can appeal to the Latino market.
It also makes both tag team division and X-Division matches more exciting and better. Think about getting out of the wrong side of ring during a match with Beer Money, Inc. would be easier in 4 sided ring, you might as well be in LA while your partner is in NYC.
The X-Division stars have also greatly benefited from the six sided ring with more room to use moves better and more safely than in a four sided ring.
Wrestlers with a submission based style and/or finisher (guys like Kurt Angle, Scott Steiner, Sting, and Samoa Joe) have more room to apply their moves in the center of the ring and makes it harder for guys trying to get the rope breaks, and thus more exciting.
There is more room in hardcore matches for more weapons and when a table is broken they still have room to move about without almost stopping the match to rid of the broken table.
It also gives TNA a different look than the WWE and it you know makes them look like a real alternative instead of being a WWE clone.

Finally, someone with some good reasons. And they are good. I hadn't watched TNA so long as to be able to see the relevance of the 6-sided ring. Yeah, more room could be the best reason. Though I think a 4-sided ring is big enough to execute both highflying maneuvers and submission holds, it does make sense for hardcore matches. As for being a real alternative, most people (like myself) are used to the traditional 4-sided ring. I can't speak for others, but the reason I looked elsewhere than the WWE was because it is stale. Same people on top, all the time. Having Angle, Sting, and some still-big names, I thought it would be better to watch a program closer to actual wrestling than soap opera. I guess the 6-sided ring is just a personal choice for everyone. I don't like it, and it's the only reason other than the announcers (I never liked Mike Tenay not even in WCW) that I have never seen a TNA show from beginning to end. I guess I'll just start doing that, but that ring will annoy me the whole time...anyway, thanks for smartening me up a bit. Definitely better than

You get used to it after a while. It took me about 3 shows to get used to it now when I watch a match in a 4 sided ring (anywhere TNA, ROH, WCW, AJPW, NJPW, ECW, and WWE) it looks small and not as epic as (some) wrestling matches should be.
As too Mike Tenay the only thing I can recommend is hitting the mute button during the matches. IMHO he's no where as annoying as a former (at least I think they are former) ROH announcers Nutley and Lowery. When they teamed Lowery with CM Punk (who is great on commentary BTW) he was tolerable because Punk would really make fun of him. Together Lowery and Nutley sucked, they would stop calling matches just to watch matches which makes them unprofessional and some classic ROH matches (like Joe vs. Punk II) feel lifeless and dull. The only thing Lowery could do is scream is: "Dangerous!" at the top of his lungs when a wrestler would do a high risk move during a gimmick match, which more often than not would make the move feel less spectalaur if Lowery would just have just kept quite.

My friend and I found a commentating team even worse then Tenay/West. Hell, they made Adamle look amazing.
I don't remember their names, but they were the announcers on the FMW DVD Total Carnage. They were beyond terrible...
