The soundwave problem
ok guys im going to need ur help on something. Some time in the near futur i hope to aquire a soundwave figue. From the the three i would choose from there is the upcoming Mp3, The toysrus reissue, and the titanium. For each of these i see thing that i like and dont like. For instince.
The Mp3 guys looks cool but he has no wepons and cassets(excluding rumble/frenzy) but can actulally play music
The reissiue guy is really cool because he is pretty show accurate but does not have great poseablity.
The titanium guy looks good because he is full poseble has a casset and wepons but somethings like his altenate mode and laserbeak not having any wepons throw me off.
Plz guys help me decide between these 3 figures

When he's in robot mode the titanium version looks like he's wearing a diaper. Also I've heard a few complaints about titanium figures being floppy and falling over. So I'd stay away from that one.

Where'd you hear that Titanium Soundwave is poseable? He falls over at the slightest provocation.[/i]

I'd go with the reissue.
The original Soundwave is a solid toy with lots of play value and very good articulation for its time.

I have the reissue and the Titanium and I love them both for different reasons chief among them combined they were cheaper than MP3 Soundwave. Plus its not like you can go jogging or anything with the MP3. It's a cool gimic but ultimately it's a forced upgrade more than anything. And Rumble & Frenzy look like the Transformable Happy Meal toys from the 80's.

When i spoke of the titanium one the problems i said were similar to what u guys discribed. I think i'll go with the reissue for now. And looking at the price of the mp3 sound wave looks rediclulus.

I am intreg...intrigeu....intr...facinated by the possibilities of an MP3 Soundwave. If I ever get a second re-issue, I might have to see what sort of custom one I can do...

My buddy has the titanium SW... he sucks.
Go for the reissue. The vintage toy is still the best one.
I'm kinda interested in the MP3 SW though... as he looks better, plays music and has more articulation.
But he requires an SD card, so I'd need to buy one of those, plus I can't get one with a lot of space for the cheap.
Your average SD card might be 1-2 GB, and those will go for about $60 each as opposed to my 30 GB iPod, which was just $40 more (SD not included). If I want more music, I need to buy more SD cards, which is both expensive and inconvinient.
Since I already have an mp3 player and he can't hold a lot of music, he's basically an expensive toy with a sorta neat gimmick, but it would get old.

I took back the Titanium soundwave today. Cheap ass toy. Legs won't stay extended and the body seems too heavy for the stupid tiny unbalanced feet. And looks like its wearing a crappy diaper.

I'm getting the re-issue too.
I wouldn't go for the titanium because I dislike the extended crotch, and yes, MP3 soundwave is just far too expensive.
I do like the look of MP3 soundwave though, so I'm hoping someone comes out with a KO that doesn't have the mp3 circuitry or the silly headphone rumble and frenzy and is significantly cheaper

AFAIK, the MP3 SW doesn't come with Rumble and Frenzy. You need to buy them seperately for another $40. Yeah, lame.

Hey, I just noticed. You have part of my name in yours! Weird. Anyways, being a Soundwave lover, get all three. It's true that G1 Soundwave has no posability, but he is by far the coolest. Titanium Soundwave has little to no posability, but he is a nice homage to G1 Soundwave & comes w/Laserbeak. Love that. However, the only thing I hate about Titanium Soundwave, like everyone else, is the diaper. That's it. I'll say this about MP3 Soundwave. His knees bend in the right direction. He plays music. What's not to love?! I'll give you this: he's a bit too small for my tastes, but he's Soundwave nonetheless. That's my oppinion on your Soundwave dillema.

Mine doesn't fall over.
He crumples into a pile of metal & plastic.

Get the Gen 1 re-issue. It's relatively easy to asquire, has a low price tag, comes with two cassettes and has shiny chrome! IMHO Soundwave had the second-best articulaton of any Gen 1 figure (Perceptor rules), so I can't see why he's got poor articulation.
The MP3 Soundwave looks nice, but would you ever use other than a display piece?
Titaniums looks godawful IMO.

I share the exact same opinion. I got my first ever Soundwave yesterday (it's the G1 reissue) and I'm so happy with it.

Put it this way, out of all the Gen 1 figures I owned, I could not sell Soundwave. He's just the best.

well...
I went for TFC 18 Soundblaster - the optimal G1 Soundwave with the ability to hold two cassettes.

Yup, Soundsblaster looks great in Black. I never could work out how Soundwave's replacement had such great colours whereas Twincast looks godawful.

But...Jetfire is in your Sig and you forgot about him?
I'd advise you to pay out the money and get an original G1 Soundwave.
Even the reissues just aren't the same (and I have them all.).

I'd personally go with the reissue. Its the most kickass reissue we've had and seen for a very long time here, so its well worth adding to any collection
I did and I've never regretted it.

Why? What's the difference (other than the TRU reissue having Soundblaster's deck)? I've never had an original to compare with.

Good point, but do we consider Jetfire a Transformer?
Actually, probably better not to start that debate as it gets messy with the Diaclone bits

Plus I could never, ever sell Jetfire. I built a shrine for the guy. A squadron of Eurofighters is stationed around my flat for that precise reason.
Good point about the original figure too. I still have no clue as to why the original figure and the TFC figure are roughly the same price on Ebay.

His rubsign is on his arm instead of his chest. Nothing else I can really think of, but I never took the two and compared them. My original is in bad shape too, and most of his paint and stickers have rubbed off, so he's probably not great for comparason anyway.
The differences between Reissues and originals are usually minor. They'll make figures fetch different pricetags, but if you just want the character for your collection and you're not concerned about tiny details, you shouldn't let it bother you.
The japanese reissues are better though, as they seem to be closer to the originals due to less strict safety laws, and they seem to have more effort put into them. I.E. most US reissues have black plastic for guns instead of silver like the originals did, while the japanese ones do.
Though I'll argue that the TRU Reissue SW is better than the original and the TFC version, not only is he cheaper, but can hold two tapes. And insetad of getting Buzzsaw who wasn't that important, you get Laserbeak and Ravage who are a bit more iconic. Plus he's cheaper.
