The Krayt Dragon man, just so amazing. Really did it justice. And we never even saw more than the head and neck...
And damn they finally used Boba Fett right on screen.

Why does the Mandalorian have a cape? It doesn't serve any practical purpose.

Does a cap server ANY purpose by those who wear them in media?

Not really, not practical ones anyway. I guess some people think it looks cool on Superman when he's flying, or even on Batman when he's rappelling down a building (plus it gives him the look of a bat, thus serving the purpose of his image, as well as I recall seeing in some comics that his cape is actually fireproof and bulletproof Kevlar that protects him) but it's still gotta be heavy as hell for him to tote around. But for the Mandalorian it serves absolutely no purpose, in all the action scenes I've seen so far in the show it just looks like it gets in the way.Burn wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Why does the Mandalorian have a cape? Cape and its functions notwithstanding, The Mandalorian = space Batman?

I'm only a few episodes into season 2, but I do think it's a great show, it shows that it was made with care and affection, instead of the horrendous and shameless money grab that was the Disney trilogy. Hard to believe the same production company made both. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. Is it true that season 3 won't be out for a whole year?

Yeah, sadly.
I just have such a hard time with how they could plan out a tv series like this, but not be bothered to plan out the films.

Movies - Rian Johnson / JJ Abrams / Heavily influenced by Kathleen Kennedy
Mandalorian - Lead by Jon Favrou and Dave Filoni and a number of other directors / very little influence by Kathleen Kennedy
Filoni has a history with Star Wars (worked on Clone Wars, co-created Ahsoka).
The Mandalorian just has a bunch of people that actually care about what they're creating. Abrams isn't the Director or writer he used to be, Johnson is terrible and pretty much did what Kennedy directed him to do.

The fact that they discarded Legends characters like the Solo kids will always piss me off to.

With Kathleen Kennedy in charge, it's more like trampling.Blastback wrote:Rogue Squadron is gonna be make or break for me. Treading on nerd sacred ground.
As for the show, I just finished it this morning, and I must say it was pretty good. I didn't get a nerdgasm by the ending like most others did, because it wasn't as good as it was hyped it to be. If Luke had fought Gideon wielding the dark saber, it would have been great. Nonetheless, I was satisfied by the overall story and am looking forward to the next season despite the obvious prejudice against Caucasian males. The docuseries is pretty interesting as well.

Read recently that Boba Fett was originally designed to try to resemble Clint Eastwood. The visor was designed to resimble his squinty glare, while the cape was to resemble the kind of poncho he would wear. The original actor even apparently tried to mimic his body languge.
So that's why mandos have capes if true.

Yeah, it's true. It was touched on in an episode of the docuseries Disney Plus made about the series. It's actually very insightful, watch it if you haven't yet.Blastback wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Why does the Mandalorian have a cape? It doesn't serve any practical purpose.

The only thing Johnson did right was Knives Out.
Not a sheeple.

So, the Book of Boba Fett is out. rather slow paced begining, so to early to judge to much, but I'm worried their gonna water down Fett to much. Admitedly, my opinions on the character stem from his potrayal in Legends, espesially stuff like The Last One Standing and the Bounty Hunter Wars, which of course are all moot now. But he's a bad guy. But he's popular so we can't have him being a bad guy anymore....
The escape from the Sarlacc was pretty awesome, would have liked a slightly longer take. And I'm good with him not being full strength, still suffering from his time in the Sarlacc.

About Book of Boba Fett:
I'm a little worried that they will try to make a good guy out of him. It will turn out to be another robber, but with principles and honor. There is no problem with this archetype, but too predictable. But I hope they can surprise us!

I usually watch a couple of Star Wars movies every year around May 4th, and this year it's Empire and Return. I have the DVDs, and I also like to watch the movies again with the audio commentary. I haven't watched the original trilogy in about 5 or 6 years and now I'm listening to Carrie Fisher talk about how it was making Empire and it just kinda bummed me out for a minute remembering that she's gone...
And I also realized that now the Skywalker Saga is finished(?) on the big screen and the chapter in the dead middle is still the best, IMO. But Return has risen over the years in my opinion as the 3rd best in the series after Revenge. Is/should Rogue One be considered part of the Saga? Both Vader and Leia appear in it, as well as the droids, and it's a direct prequel to A New Hope story-wise. Or are cameos not enough to justify that?

I think the entire Star Wars story (from Phantom Menace - Rise of Skywalker) is supposed to be considered the Skywalker Saga so anything between those two movies, even if a Skywalker doesn't appear, is part of the Saga. So that includes Rogue One, Solo, Bad Batch etc because even though may not have a Skywalker, or only features a small cameo, it adds to the overall story arch of the rise, fall, redemption of Anakin and the influence on his children/grand-children.
Or to make it more simplified, we just call it Palpatine Saga.
