I hate it when fans ram their idea about the canon down other peoples throats. ITS OFFICIAL! they yell, too bad official changes with every new toy line/show/comic series released.

God, where to start? Ok, fans who go on about how their preferred continuity is better than anything else. I'm a fan of the G1 cartoon, everything else ranges from "meh, not bad I suppose" (G1 comic) to "holy crap, what were they thinking?" (Armada). But that's my view. I don't want to here about how the G1 comics were so bloody good. I read them when they came out, and I thought they were cliched, badly-written tripe then. However, if you like it, great. Just don't try and convince me that what you like is better than what I like.
In fanfic, there's a load of stuff that annoys me. People who don't bother spellchecking their work annoys the living daylights out of me. If you're going to put your work out into the world and expect people to read it, make some effort with it.
Fanfics about how the author hates Mary Sues also irritate me. Of course Mary Sues annoy you, they annoy everyone! So why not write a decent fic to show people how it's done? Acknowledging in your story that Mary Sues are stupid is not a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card that allows you to write Sue-fic.
Fan-created characters. If you're writing G1 fic, there are so many unused characters, you just don't NEED to make any more up. I can almost guarantee that whatever trait your character was going to have, there is an existing character that fits your need.
Female Decepticons in G1 fanfic. Sorry, but where does this come from? There weren't any. So it bugs me to see fanfic where suddenly there's battallions of them.
People who ask questions like "Did Optimus Prime know Megatron before the war?" without specifying which continuity they're asking about. Hell, G1 alone has enough versions to make that a lengthy discussion, without considering everything else.
Damn, I get annoyed by a lot of stuff, don't I?

Another one of mine would be when people complain about how a fanfic has elements that are not "canon." There are so many plot holes and contraditories in G1 and other Tf series that some fudging on the details of a story should not be a major contention.
Another is when people complain about Mary Sues in fanfics, but then do not bother to descibe a Mary Sue in good enough detail so we can try and avoid making one. Is a character's being a Seeker the only criteria, or is there more "traits?" needed to turn that character into a Mary Sue?

What gets to me is when Fans that are older suddenly feel they know EVERYTHING! As if they're word is law and there fore nothing else matters. I'm a cartoon fan, I follow mostly that canon. I will respect the other forms of media and the newer books, but to me it seems a bit silly to have someone claim they know everything about TF. I know quiet a bit, but that doesn't mean I'm Hasbro.
Writers who write the characters out of character. For example, Mr. Furman having Optimus comment that the humans are expendable. That just made me go...um...since when? Also it gets to me when a new writer comes in and doesn't do any previous research about the characters. No clue of relationships.
Fanfiction...where do I start. I really don't like it when you have character out of character. The shows are out there to rent, or read the books. Not that hard to do. Can't stand it when you have a Garystu character coming out and "Wow I'm better then Prime." Another one is where they take over everything...um yeah.... Also when the characters have no back story, they're just there. While yes I do realize that there are a lot of underused characters, newer ones, when invented, should fit in without people noticing that they're new.
Can't stand it when someone buys up a **** load of toys and there are kids that are looking for them. Take one or two at the most, leave some for the rest of us.
Fans that will rant at non fans because they don't get certian ideas or they give them long explinations that annoy them. Keep it simple, we are not trying to be D&D fans here.
Lastly, Transfans that get angry with the voice actors. They just read the lines, they don't write the story. Or more so when they bitch at the writers.

All opinions are not equal. As an example, if someone holds the opinion that the moon is made of cheese, that opinion is not as valid as the opinion that the moon is made of rock. Opinions that have proof are worth more than opinions that don't.

Damolisher wrote:I concur. Too much selfishness amongst adult Transformers fans, IMO, who forget that Transformres IS still marketted at kids.
While there is no end to the truth of this statement, we as adult or "adult", if you prefer, collectors and/or fans still do have a right to be critical or complain about elements that we don't like. My estimate is that many of us find this objectionable becuase it gets wildly out of control in these forums.
I hate how some people try to spin everything as depriving the kids at whom Transformers is generally aimed at. This summers' scalper arguement, for example. People were screaming about how someone buying 4 Target Jazzes' (huh?) was resulting in the poor children not getting one when in reality they're upset that there wasn't one on the shelf for them. At least we can admit it. Now, this naturally doens't apply to all out there, but really, do we collect TFs or toys in general for our own enjoyment or becuase we want the children to enjoy them? Becuase if it's all about making sure the kids get them then we ourselves are the main cause of the problem that some of us are so vehement against. I don't care, I just enjoy my hobby.
It bugs me that so many people complain about figures they do not own and have no reference of.
I hate how people felt that strong need to tell us in the year leading up to its' release how much they hate the movie designs and it all looks terrible and everything. Fine, you hate it. I don't, so shut up and let other people enjoy something that's supposed to be ENJOYABLE!
Basically, I guess I hate all of those people who cheapen the enjoyment of my hobby, from which I derive certain levels of enjoyment.
In light of all this negativity, let me lighten the mood by saying that I love Counterpunch.

I understand people saying they hate scalpers, but aren't we to blame for the problem? If we all stopped paying over-inflated prices for toys off ebay, the scalpers would have to move on to something else. Result: more toys in the stores, at lower prices. Everyone wins, apart from the guy who wants to sell a £10 Classics Ramjet for £20 or more.

I agree, but are/do scalpers really ruin everything? I hate the idea of paying way more than retail for the Concept BB figure, too, and that's why I don't own one, becuase I refuse to pay the eBay prices that they're going for. Yes, we are to blame largely, but even if we stopped buying from 'scalpers' someone would do it. If we get all up in arms about scalpers buying multiple figures, why is it acceptable for collectors to buy one to open and one to save? If getting the toys to children is our big concern, then collectors that buy two of any given figure are just as much of the problem. It doesn't matter that it's only two toys and not 9 or whatever, the point is that you now have two Classic Ramjets, when all you really need is one, and now some kid won't have one until they restock the shelves.
Collecting is largely a very selfish hobby, becuase even if you buy one of each figure you COULD have used that money to end world hunger or clothe the needy. Instead, you bought a toy, and not just that, but you took that toy away from some now-unhappy child. But we all have to feel altruistic sometime.
Whoops, that was sarcasm, I forgot to give the disclaimer.

Can't argue with any of that. I don't pay scalper rates, simply because I know I wouldn't be happy with a figure knowing I paid double for it. Really, scalpers are just capitalism in action. They've got something you want, you either pay the price or move on. Crying about it won't help.
And as you raised it, I personally find the people who buy two or more of a figure to be more annoying that scalpers. It's because of these people that I don't have some of the stuff I want. Because they want a MISB Ramjet, and one to display. Ooh, and a third one to display in alt mode. And might as well get a fourth for their kid so he doesn't break daddy's collectables.
This is just an opinion, of course, but MISB collecting is pretty stupid. If you're not going to take the item out of the box, why bother owning it? Why not spend the money on a poster of the character doing something cool?

I'm with you. Yet somehow, buying two or three of a figure to have one on display, one on display in alt mode and one MISB is vastly about buying two or three in order to sell one or two of the extras. I don't get the dual display idea, with one as a robot and one in alt mode. It's a robot that turns into something else. If you just wanted to display airplanes or cars or something, wouldn't you collect those instead? To each their own.

Exactly. They're Transformers. They're supposed to transform. If you're going to buy multiples of a figure so you can display it in all modes, why bother buying Transformers? The Actionmasters line and a model toy shop await your attention!

I hate when people complain about figures that I really like. Then I feel like I have to justify myself for liking them. I for one really like Titanium Soundwave, despite his most glaring flaw: Being advertised as a titanium figure when he is in fact, not made from said metal.

Exactly! It's really annoying to me when I find something that I would like to get only to have some jerk grab two or three figures. I could swear that the rules applying to collecting is that you're supposed to get one. Or have I been misled.

Going to be honest.
Everyone annoys me. Until you can prove me otherwise, you annoy me.
There are plenty on here that don't annoy me, but that's mainly bcos I've had the time to get to know them a little more, to relate to them.
And, most of all, I hate 'new players' so to speak, that frog march their noob asses into a thread and demand that everyone pays attention to them/ insist that their opinion is right/ attack other members, new or old.
Also, there are two things I love.
Cookies, and quotes from things I love that are put in the correct context. You win Mr Sledge!

Or worse so when they have like an entire collection of THE EXACT SAME TRANSFORMERS!!!! Like this guys video entry to the Ulitmate TF fan. He has only Ultra Magnus, and while it's fine to like him, it's a totally differnt thing to own like seven or eight of the same exact figures. With this guy he had eight or nine of the reissued Ultra Magnus.
And I can't stand toy store employees who take the toy and hide them in the stock, and only put out certain numbers. So the consumer is short changed.
