Gotta admit that I'm liking that as well, even though my Throttlebots will most likely display uncombined.

Just can't fathom why it's okay and acceptable to buy this set of Six over sized TW Throttlebots toys. that form a over sized combiner bigger than MMC Predaking and MT Devastator. Yet it's wrong for others to buy their bigger class TF toys like Masterpices. And anything in the CHUG and 3rd party TF toy lines bigger than Voyager class toys.
5 out of 6 of these Toyworld throttlebots are deluxe scale so they are not "oversized" by any means by cartoon scale. In the cartoon, the throttlebots were portrayed as being normal sized Autobot cars. (not minibots that reach Primes knees in height) Wideload gets a free pass because he is a Hummer and formerly a mining dump truck, both bigger than small concept cars.
First of all you have to acknowledge that most CHUG collectors prefer anime/cartoon scale where most characters are the same height. They prefer cartoon scale because in general CHUG robot modes tend to lean more towards cartoon accuracy. Since the CHUG lines are so big with hundreds of characters, scale becomes very important because you can actually recreate your favorite scenes or factions from the G1 cartoon.
Large stand alone figures totally disregard cartoon scale making displays an eyesore. I mean who really wants Megatron to be the same height as Jetfire or a combiner? The only reason MP scale figures are becoming popular is because now there are enough of them to create a display that is close to the cartoon scale. People like displays because they look cool. Adults dont "play" with their toys like kids do. So there really is no need for bigger scale toys from a CHUG collectors point of view. Playability is not a factor that matters to many of us. Oversized figures are more of a novelty reserved for our favorite characters. I call them "coffee table figures" because they dont fit in with my didplay due to scale. But they do make great conversation pieces for your living room or man cave.
I can only speak for myself, but Im hoping you get the jist of why oversized figures arent that popular among CHUG collectors. Cartoon scale is what has kept me collecting all these years. If the figures were all kinds of crazy random sizes, I would have never gotten into collecting. I would have just bought my top 3 favorite characters and called it a day. Scale harmony is a tremendous marketing strategy. It makes you want to buy more because they dont just look good, they look good together.

To be honest the combined mode height is way too large for me too. So I'm glad I didn't buy into it.
But I usually don't comment on things I have no interest in. It's fine for someone else and it looks really nice. It's just not for me.

The combiner looks cool. But, the Throttlebots never combined in G1 (that I know of), and those characters came too late for me to really feel a connection. So this is a pass.

Having that connection can be pretty important. I know I've passed on some pretty cool $#!+ because it wasn't related to a character or group that I cared about.

Agree with you guys.
If i'm going to spend over $500 on 3rd party TF characters toys. think the characters need to be well known, been given fleshed out non generic personalties and not obsecure.
If they are obsecure, they had to at least been staring characters in that cartoon series or season. where they created the plot or the stories revolved around them.
While some might consider Masterforce or IDW Overlord obsecure. At the very least Overlord was the star core character on the Decepticons side. Where he helped create the plot, Stared in it and it revolved around him. Same thing goes for Victory Star Saber.

Re: ToyWorld Throttlebot Combiner
To be honest, I'd have a hard time buying these toy even at the Hasbro American retail stores prices.
These TW Throttlebots toys remind me of HasTak's Alternators toys. Where any random liscensed car mode was given regardless if it matched the original characters car mode or not.
Almost done getting rid of most of the Alternators toys i've got. And replacing them with HasTak's Masterpiece voyagers cars bots toys.

I have a couple favorite characters (starscream and combaticons) but I dont really get "connections" to individual characters that control my spending. My "connection" is to the G1 American cartoon. If the character was in the cartoon I want him/her on my classics shelf. I dont care if the character has a staring role like Bumblebee or is an obscure one episode character like Devcon, I want it. My goal is to collect the entire G1 American cartoon cast in classics scale. I also want to collect as many side continuities and characters as I can featuring Japanese G1, beast wars, G2, machine wars, wreckers, select IDW and Bayverse characters, gobots, etc. For me the most important thing is scale. Ive passed on a lot of popular figures due to scale and have bought many unpopular figures that scaled well with my classics theme. Getting back on topic, these toyworld throttlebots scale pretty well with the various headmasters and target masters I have collected and will look great on my "Rebirth" shelf. Once I have them all in hand, the only Autobot I will be missing is Highbrow which we have confirmation Fansproject will be doing.

Um...I don't get your reasoning. Again. Obscure characters that star in their cartoon series or season? Isn't that oppposite of obscure?
In fact, at this point since I am getting a lot of awesome representation from Has/Tak, I prefer to get more obscure characters that Has/Tak are less likely to do. Like the Throttlebots.

Some others fans say overlord is obsecure. Who don't bother going to Tfwiki and researching things.
