POTP Voyagers have "Bucklers" for Prime Masters. Besides, those are way too big for combiner ports. I hope you are ready for the condescending replies about how that's not a reliable source by the resident know-it-alls.Decepticon Stryker wrote:I heard this on tfwiki, which so far has been very reliable to me.

As for the actual subject of a combiner Starscream, I think the only way it should be done is if the gestalt is a Titan class, and the other members are the other 5 Seekers who are the same size. Or if it can't be a Titan class, make the members deluxe sized. But that's just wishful thinking.

That just looks too stocky for Starscream, gives me the impression that he may be a pre-tool, possible for Thunderwing or someone else. Jazz look good, but I can't see it replacing my "Special Ops Jazz", plus I could do without the CW's tooling. On the other hand Darkwing & Dreadwing look great along with Rodimus Prime, though I really hope he's compatible with the Rodimus Titan Master from the Velocitron set. Very happy to see a new Beachcomber coming along & lastly I absolutely love that Skullgrin Titan/Power/God/Whatever-Master so damn much, its incredibly adorable and I love how they've incorporated the his Pretender gimmick! Power of the Primes is looking pretty great so far!

Just look at Silverbolt's arms. They have combiner ports in them, and aren't insanely massive. And, we probably would have seen the gestalt or torso at the showcase.MadProject wrote:Decepticon Stryker wrote:POTP Voyagers have "Bucklers" for Prime Masters. On the other hand, sacrifices where made elsewhere across the other CW Voyagers, and Silverbolt himself had very chunky legs that he otherwise wouldn't have had.
In addition, they didn't bother showing off Jazz, Dreadwind and Darkwing's very obvious CW compatibility. Which seems very odd, but it's looking like they're saving the official announcement as something more '''exciting''' for Hascon.

No it doesn't.
I passed on TR Hotrod because it didn't look much better than the Classic's repaint that came as a set with 2.0 Cyclonus.
This one looks way better IMO.

I much prefer TR Hot Rod personally, but this one does look like a much more direct update to the original G1 toy's blockiness and general design themes. Just means we have two fantastic options

Depending on how tall he is he might just end up being my "Rodimus" w/o the "Prime" title.
Basically having his IDW role and rank. Hopefully that carriage portion can also form that canon/battle station thing that the G1 version did since I don't really like Rodimus towering over TR Galvatron and Classics OP as much as he does in Leader class mode. So thumbs up to the Cybertronian Winnebago mode and Hotrod's bot mold.

Been pretty busy with work so I had a lot of catching up to do on this thread. I know my thoughts might echo others but I still feel like posting.
Skullgrin: probably the only way that they could do modern pretenders that isn't an amalgamation of shell and robot designs. I think it's a pretty cool replacement to Titan masters.
Beachcomber: looks great. The legends are one of my favorite classes and this guy just looks like tons of fun.
Jazz: I never had the RTS mold so this is a welcome reveal. I'm not really a fan of door wings on robots so I'm glad that this figure doesn't have them. I personally love that they are bringing back combiners in this line however, I really hope we don't get Combiner Wars levels of mold reuses. Like one, two at the most. That being said I would bet money that we're going to see a Braver out of this mold.
Darkwing/Dreadwind: love that they can combine together as well as serve as Combiner limbs too. I'm fine with them being aerialbot remolds since they changed the arms, chest and wings but would it have killed them to give them new legs? I'm so tired of looking at skydives shins.
Starscream: gotta admit at first I was pretty let down by this. I thought he looked like a hero masher with his oversized arms and legs, but it's growing on me. The images from the actual display make him look a bit more proportionate. I'm really hoping that the outer bit of his forearm can come off because I think that'll help a bunch. If not, oh well I'm still going to get him. Definitely think he's a combiner torso.
And finally Rodimus Prime: Absolutely love it. I love that he's a 2 in 1 figure, I love the matrix gimmick that the leaders have and I love the overall aesthetic of it. I think he looks great in all 4 modes and the backpack doesn't bother me that much. Sure it's bulbous but something tells me that it's not transformed right.
As far as leader class guesses go I think it'll go,
Rodimus/Thunderclash
Star Saber/Thunderwing
Optimus Primal
Grimlock from the yet to be revealed Deathsaurus (which is totally happening don't ruin this for me). Even though grimlock wouldn't follow the same power up gimmick of the other ones he could still hold a matrix in his chest and Sixshot didn't have a base mode like the other TR leaders had so there's precedence for not every figure strictly following the main gimmick.

Nope. What looks like Skullgrin is actually a "Prime Master" called "Liege Maximo" that hides in a "Decoy Suit".
So our hopes for a modern Pretender line is this ... yay.
I wonder what will be the gimmick here though.
Still, I do hope they'll make the Evil Trio this way.
Screw the trio, I want all 6 of the evil buggers.

And maybe...just maybe...THIS guy!!!!

The standard, original 1988 Pretender lineup - disregarding the Pretender Beasts and Pretender Vehicles - was made up of 12 individuals, including Skullgrin. Given that Skullgrin's been used for one of the Primes, and given there's 12 Pretenders and 12 Primes (bar Optimus uuuuuuuuuugggggggghhhhhh), I think it's a fair assumption those will be lining up with each other.

I would love this -- but definitely would like at least one modernized Pretender in Leader size.....Thunderwing would work, since I need a figure of him.
But I'd settle for a mini Finback or Roadblock!

Veering back to the Dinobots for a bit, isn't one of their main schticks being already so big and powerful as a team that they don't need to combine in order to go up against a Combiner?

Unicron's getting his own IDW solo comic in 2018, and POTP is supposed to be the final part of a trilogy. If there was any time for the chaos-bringer to make his Titan debut, it's now.

I could see either Bludgeon or Bugly being the Fallen's Decoy suit, as a sneaky homage to War Within. As for the others I have no idea, perhaps give Bomb-Burst to Onyx Prime because he's a winged beast?

Maaaaybe. Bugly was part of the original 12 unlike Bludgeon so I'd expect him. Naturally Onyx Primal would likely end up with one of the Decepticons since they're based on beasts, while the more traditionally 'good'-aligned Primes (Alpha Trion, Vector Prime, Prima, Solus Prime) would end up with the Autobot shells. Then again, Hasbro selling human-based shells again seems weird and somewhat unlikely despite everything here saying they're gonna do it. Maybe they'll try and make the Autobot Pretender shells look more robotic?

I'd personally doubt Bludgeon being used as one of the pretender shells for the Primes, because unlike the likes of Finback and Cloudburst a lot of people know him, he's a very popular character and people are a lot more likely to raise an eyebrow at his likeness being used for a different character. The same could possibly be argued for Carnivac.

I really hope that Unicron isn't the next Titan. I would much rather they do Scorponok and Omega first, but it would make sense I guess to do Unicron in a line centered around primes. Since this line will most likely be a year and a half like the other two they could do the first Titan as Unicron and then retool him and end the trilogy on Primus.
