Amazon says the shipped mine already so, cool, can't wait to have Barricade in hand.
Thought it would be here next year, but hey, can't complain about early Christmas presents.

I'll ask here so people can see it, any idea what's going to be done to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the movie? I know there's a capsule line but anything else?

Well, since SS86 is over where else would we discuss these slots?
Honestly speaking, for me SS86 already scratched most all of my itches so I don't think the 40th is going to offer me much of anyhting 'new' that is. My one G1 holdout is coming this year with Powerglide, once I have him all my minibots are done. I just don't know what they can offer in the scope of '86 movie' that I'd need or that is unmade. In general I'd like an all new Octane before I hang it up but that's likely come out in generations line.
Frankly, I don't know what will become of SS line because it sounds like they'll be branching out from strictly the movies and including all sorts of stuff in the future. Feels like this thread is about to get a lot busier with a wider discussion. lol
But to be fair, all the animated shows were technically shot in a studio, right?

I wasn't talking just about toys. I'd like to see a be-all, end-all version of the movie released on the home market. While I know there's no way to animate new scenes, if there are any storyboards out there, I'd like to see them included, with new documentaries. A digital code would be nice too. Basically, a Criterion Edition of one of the most infamous animated films of all time. Besides that, I think we're good for some anniversary shirts, drinkware, and various tchotchkes.

More of a wish list:
A read thru of TFTM on the big screen with the voice actor cast (those still alive) just like they did with the first episode of the cartoon tv series a few years back.
A hail mary that won't ever make a touchdown:
Re-start the Commemorative toy line with G1 Megs (no orange plug & working firing mechanism).

I think we'll have better luck seeing Megs in the Missing Link line.

They'll get those awards some other way, I'm sure. I just don't want to see police put in the situation where they shoot some dumbass because they think a real gun is being pointed at them.-Kanrabat- wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:People (especially kids) are too irresponsible and stupid to be trusted with that in public.

Seriously, it did happen too often. Especially when one can never, ever take any chances.

I vaguely remember watching footage of a Stormtrooper(?) cosplayer coming out of a collectables store(?) into the street & being told to lay on the ground by a bunch of police. And I thought to myself, thank goodness I don't live Stateside.

This is a bit ridiculous. Especially when a SW blaster look nothing like a real gun.

As opposed to having access to airsoft or pellet guns that look strikingly real? Yet are allowed in public everyday.
And the reason for all this wasn't just some random dummy, a lot of it was orchestrated in the war on certain rights. Part of it was also fueled by gang violence because members would get the younger kids to do their bidding so they wouldn't go to jail themselves. Before long it became taboo for kids to play in their yard with toy guns especially with busybody Karens near by to call the cops on them for having fun. Most of it was blown way out of proportion so that now we are where we are.
I find it interesting that we somehow survived the old school 20's & 30's era mafia street gang days with guns on every corner leading to shootouts with rival gangs and cops afraid of them but kids still played with toy guns and we didn't have anywhere near the rate of cops shooting kids with fake guns as we supposedly did in the 2000's.
The 80's just very well might have been the best era...

Indeed. In my childhood in the 1980s, I played in the streets with a realistic cowboy gun made out of diecast metal. I could buy the black powder caps at the local convenience store.
Those were the days.

Exactly. I also think Megatron not being available AT ALL in Gun mode is overreacting. But I do understand the other side of the argument as well. I have an original G1 Megatron in pretty good shape, except for the chrome fading slightly. And holding it in hand mode, he can pass for a real gun especially from further away. But as you said, so can most pellet guns these days.Till-all-R1 wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:They'll get those awards some other way, I'm sure. It also depends on the training and mental health of police officers. Cops deal with way too much crap these days to the point they can't take ANY chances. And then there are the ones in the minority who have an inferiority complex or a god complex and feel the need to go to their gun IMMEDIATELY, regardless of the situation.I find it interesting that we somehow survived the old school 20's & 30's era mafia street gang days with guns on every corner leading to shootouts with rival gangs and cops afraid of them but kids still played with toy guns and we didn't have anywhere near the rate of cops shooting kids with fake guns as we supposedly did in the 2000's.
