Transformers Table-top games?

Hey everybody, I was just wondering if there were any table-top rpgs or wargames based in the Transformers universe. I've been playing a lot of D&D lately, and a Transformers RPG (or wargame, warhammer style) would be pretty awesome.

There weren't really any serious attempts, but there were some weaker ones: Wizards created his own 3D card-game, and there was a figure-game, called Attacktix... none of them had any serious rpg-style.
Maybe the closest attempt is the Transformers Risk.

i started tinkering with rules for a tf rpg.
initially it was for a forum based rob. I can link the google doc with the system i was working on.
as for official, nothing really good out there.
you can make some decent "tf-based" characters using D&D 3.5 or Pathfinder rules.

Re: Transformers Table-top games?
I'm playing a self invented Transformers rpg (pen&paper) with some of my friends for at about two years (a one-shot every few months).
It's based on d&d 4.0 and... well... let's just say, role playing weighs heavier than throwing dice. It's kinda of balance. As "DM" I had to adjust every battle. However, for having fun it was good enough. I guess, I could improve it if I wanted to, but since we've reached the highest possible character-level by now and I'm DM of another campaign, this will not happen anytime soon.
If you're willing to work your way into game-theory and game-dynamics or if you have some experience as DM, inventing your own system is an achievable goal. Just try it. No need to be perfect from the beginning, you can always improve the thing.

I got Transformers Risk when it came out. Risk is great when you turn it into a drinking game.

same here, and yes it is.
the tf monopoly is slightly annoying because they thought it'd be a good idea to have the cards "scrambled" like the old tf specs (you need red cellophane to view it)....

I've done my own rendition of Transformers D&D off of the 3.5 system. There's a topic in here w/ it posted but its way old. The only thing about the D&D-style Transformwers RPG is the heavy favor towards melee attacks and the drastic lack of ranged weapon skills.
An older game that may work for Transformers is Torq. I'm not banking on its availability or of anyone in here having a copy of it. I certainly don't but a friend does.
Champions is a viable RPG system for transformers. If I knew how to create characters in that system I'd do it myself.
In regards to any official releases there are none. I guess Hasbro (via Wizards) doesn't see an RPG system as being profitable. If an official system was published I would so buy it for nostalgia if not practicality. Although, I'm sure my gaming group would play it from time to time.

Wins!
It's a great game for drinking. Of course, I don't remember that I ever actually finished an entire game...
When you drink every time you lose a piece off the board, things get a little fuzzy.

I thought Transformers Monopoly is pretty cool. But I liked Monopoly even before that.

You could always try to modify and combine D20 Modern with like StarWars RPG? I know they are somewhat similar but the starwars would give you some rules for vehicle combat

actually if you're familiar with 3.5 I'd suggest using the BESM d20 book, and letting everyone gestalt the Giant Robot Class with anything else from 3.5

Damn, I wish I knew enough people around here to be able to get back into Tabletop rpgs. They were so much fun. Living in the arse end of the sticks sucks sometimes.
I never got to play D&D past the AD&D stage (had moved away from it before Wizards bought it) so don't actually know how the D20 system works. Is it similar to the old D10 system White Wolf used for Vampire/Werewolf/etc. 2nd ed? (Now I'm showing my age lol) I wrote a whole bunch of stuff for that system, some of it got published online too. Sadly, I don't have copies as it died with GeoCities
It look complicated but had real potential.

Champions/Risk/Palladium rpg-types translate near perfectly over to Transformers, but the game is so incredibly overpowered you need an exceptional GM for it to flow properly, even robot-on-robot combat was over in seconds.Blackstreak wrote:Champions is a viable RPG system for transformers. Is that the one you linked me to on NeoKaon ages ago? Did you get any further with that?Name_Violation wrote:i started tinkering with rules for a tf rpg.

I got the Beast Wars Mutating Card Game (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Beast_Wars_Trans ... _Card_Game) its a pretty fun game. Takes like 5 minutes to play, which is geat, because anything longer then 5 minutes is NOT worth my time.

Re: Transformers Table-top games?
Anybody thought about making a Warhammer-tyle tabletop game using Micromasters?
They're virtually the same size, they'd fit onto the bases. And there's enough micros out there (or even mini-cons, but we all know they ain't the same thing) to ensure two players had a nice sized army.
You'd have to be pretty creative with the rules, and come up with some type of class system (maybe integrate transformations into it!), but it could work. Maybe. I'm not really that clued-up on the game.

The only one I've ever come across is the Monopoly. But an RPG sounds fun. I'm sure my husband would be all over it.
