I guess what I'm trying to say is, we either give up a proper robot or a proper alt-mode (or we get MP-level complexity and pay for it accordingly).
Or we could just get one similar to his G1 self in terms of transformation but with an increase in articulation. They seem to be doing that with Hardhead, Skullsmasher (I forget what they are calling him now) and Blaster. Actually, this toy would have been pretty good if his legs were smaller. Then the sides could be smaller than the chest area and be more different than Blaster in alt mode, being a giant tape deck rather than a giant ghetto blaster (wait, do you need circular speakers to be a ghetto blaster?). Though he wouldnt be as good a base (then again, they could simply have either telescoping or layered panels that would fold out to make some ramps).

To be honest, I hope they never address it. Having to work with the toys really dates the comics and makes the storytelling suffer. I am reading IDW Robots in Disguise and I am at Dark Cybertron now and I cannot stand all the body changing for the sole purpose of wanting to throw in the toys for no reason. It just makes me go "oh yeah, they did do another bumblebee that year" and "well I guess this is how they cram in the tankor toy". It doesnt add anything and just makes me wish I could skip this giant toy commercial and just read the rest of MTMTE. I mean those in the know of the comics know the toys are out there and if they dont, its not like the comics tell you "be sure to buy this toy of starscream's new body!" anyways. Someone who doesnt know the toys exist would just be wondering why they suddenly changed bodies again or (as is being asked right now) why both Galvatron and Chromedome suddenly removed their heads for a nebulon standoff.
The comics, like the films, have become their own storytelling mediums now, not relying on toy sales to exist, so it would be fun if they just do their own thing.

Nope, but if the mold were better, the lack of paint apps (and the lack of a proper gun) would be more forgivable. You know that saying about lipstick on a pig? Well, sometimes you CAN put enough make-up on a pig to make me bite. The mold will still be flawed, but great paint apps will ease that problem quite a bit for me.
I have experienced this too and its true. I very much dislike that FOC Grimlock mold, but man were these two decos below to die for:

The comic is supposed to be one aspect of selling the figure. Not that I need them to buy TF figs I want. Just want to see how the writers will contort and suffer through the process of trying to plot a storyline to support the figures at hand or incoming figures
I enjoy watching people suffer
Didn't Jetfire get a PR exposure in the comics using the Leader sculpt (though with SW, he had like those two wheels on his shins)?
TT IS sure to release a homage weapon for SW. If they did that for Superion (retool Sling),Defensor (Groove), Menasor (Wildrider) and Bruticus (Blastoff/Vortex). It has precedent already (maybe by 2017)
