I never got one. I know I'll never see one in the stores, and I haven't yet pulled the trigger on buying one from scalpers. The last time this happened, with Netflix Soundwave, I listened to the people who said, "Don't let the scalpers win," and that just made me lose out. It's pretty clear that they're not re-releasing Soundwave, and now the secondary market price has already doubled. I don't plan on making that mistake twice.

I'm not going to tell you to hold off on Cosmos, you should make the decision that's right for you, and waiting too long can always mean that prices spike. On the other hand, I'm very confident we'll see a new tape deck Soundwave sooner than later which will shame the Netflix version. ER Ironhide, Ratchet, and Prowl were similar in-demand retailer exclusives, and we've already seen a new mold for the first two in SS86. I prioritize getting what I want at retail as soon as it's available, but I also remind myself that on a long enough scale, almost everything gets a better new release eventually.

Yeah I know, but it doesn't appear like they're releasing anything that interesting anytime soon anyway. No interest in ROTB or Spark lines. And so far nothing in SS or legacy has appealed to me beyond the Stunticons that I'm just waiting on the final two. Nothing in this line has appeals to be aside from Cosmos and Clampdown.


As for Soundwave, I too think they'll get to SS86 version that will be a little more streamline tape deck design. So I don't think paying though the nose for the Netflix version is worth it, just eb patent.

With how things have been around here, I won’t be at all surprised if I never see any of the others.

I get that, though its a bit different than saying you are boycotting TFs, which is what I understood initially. It's kinda like announcing a pledge of abstinence the day you start your prison sentence.

Fortunately the lack of upcoming product makes that stance easier. lol

I shudder to think what happens halfway through this year if they announce a new Powerglide! I'm still iffy on Beachcomber since I already tracked down the Legends release. But I wouldn't be able to pass up on a new Powerglide as I've not gotten him yet. Or if they showed a G1 Soundwave redo.

Where the actual hell are you seeing 40-50 USD for Cosmos, Will? Aside from a handful of Ireland and UK listings where the obnoxious international shipping effectively makes it more like 70-90?

Where the actual hell are you seeing 40-50 USD for Cosmos, Will? Aside from a handful of Ireland and UK listings where the obnoxious international shipping effectively makes it more like 70-90?

Just checked sold listings, and several were at the 40-50 USD price. I didn't check the provenance so they may be from the UK.

I searched Mercari and couldn't find a Cosmos under $60-65.

Mercari can be worse than eBay. Plus to deal with them, you must use a proxy service like Buyee if you're not in Japan. Meaning it's even more expensive than eBay overall.

As for AliExpress, there's nothing below 80$CAN.

I think you are looking in the wrong areas, I am looking at US sold listings, cheapest was around $66 shipped, and they seem to be around $75 typically.

I think you are looking in the wrong areas, I am looking at US sold listings, cheapest was around $66 shipped, and they seem to be around $75 typically.

Our numbers are not so far off since I wasn't including shipping cost either

Speaking of Ebay, I went to check how much Galaxy Shuttle was going for and it's going for double the retail price.
I remember so many people complaining about the astrotrain mold being a voyager sold at a leader class price point (which us true, scale wise) almost to the point of boycott.

Guess that was more bark than bite for the most part.

They're always more bark than bite... as long as the bite isn't on them

sends a pretty stark message to Hasbro though, we'll pay $100 for the redeco of a voyager sized toy if it's an exclusive (then again, that's basically what funpub was).

The point I was trying to make was that the mold having it's shortcomings for the characters it's trying to represent makes it not worth the price it's being sold for, but Astrotrain being more well known (and thus more popular?) would upset more people than an obscure Japanese character. Or is it the same expectation with Galaxy Shuttle despite the obvious difference in their profiles?

Of course, if Astrotrain had been done right to begin with, maybe the inaccurate Galaxy Shuttle also would have been accepted more easily.

Yup, obscure characters enjoy a greater leniency going by how many toys they get (i.e. hardly any)... to a point.

Alright, for some reason I concluded that the Galaxy Shuttle figure was a bit of a disappointment due to being a redeco of a substandard mold? I guess I got my wires crossed somewhere.

We're also in a bit of a Victory high thanks to Victory Saber shipping and Deathsaurus exceeding expectations. They could probably find success in any number of repaints into Victory characters, good or bad.

I didn't think I would get Cosmos but he suddenly appeared at my Walmart so I had to snag him and up on the top shelf I saw a velocitron leader box and pulled it down and it was scourge and he was marked down. I reluctantly spent $65 for both.

Sadly mine still has plenty of Legacy Wave 1, the Beasts and Velocitron on the pegs...

Oh mine does too, and I travel a lot for work, so I've seen just about half the Walmarts in my state and they are all the same. Beasts, first wave velocitron and occasional Galvatrons.
