I actually use disguise on Slipstream and Silverbolt, they both have very similar wings and at first glance most people don't notice the rest of the body. It's worked very, very well for me.
EDIT: There's also the fact that, unlike the Scout's Cloak, Disguise will fool Sentries. It also prevents anyone from getting a lock on you.

I agree. Disguise is trash. People don't look at the color or shape of their targets, they look at the red cursor and when they see red cursor, they shoot. Disguise is like cloak-lite.
The point is, use Scientist like they should be used...as the MVP of Conquest mode. Holy crap Scientist is great in Conquest. Jet to point, take. Jet to midpoint, sentry, wait, shockwave, etc. By the time your teammates arrive, you'll be in really good shape. Scientist is good at taking and securing points as well as harrying the enemy when you've got control.
Taking Scientst into Team Deathmatch and trying to be a flying Scout is a great way to have more deaths than kills.

I agree with you on that. Hell, just adding white to the Autobots options would be enough for me. My main Autobot Scout is Arcee and she just doesn't look right without white as her secondary color. Also, naked Ultra Magnus. (I could have sworn one of the early trailers for Multiplayer showed Optimus prime with a white paint job)
On the other hand, color is a way of distinguishing friend and foe. A blue and red bot with red neon lighting is clearly an Autobot, for example. The Scientist's Disguise ability actually takes advantage of this, changing you to the opposing team's colors.
Although the body type and name tag is an even better way of telling friend from foe.
Disguise is garbage. It only works at long range. At mid to close range it's like saying "Okay, I barely snuck up on you. Please shoot me before I can launch my sneak attack." Drain/Shockwave and Sentry for Scientists. Sentry is a must and the other two are both very good and suited for different builds. Also once you've seen the Player do anything other than use disguise it's really obvious.
The only way to fix Disguise is for them to patch it to where you also get the other faction's skin. Because when you use disguise you're adopting the color scheme you set for the other faction of that character slot. Appearing to the other side as the Autobot/Decepticon version of the character you're not using (Like Spy in TF2) would make Disguise a viable tactic and not a waste of space.
You are right on one thing, the Disguise should be garbage. But unfortunately it is not. I can't believe it every time it works, people just don't get it and I'm amazed every time it works.

Except most people don't. As long as you don't stay in one place too long most people won't try to get a good look at you. And like a said, Slipstream and Silverbolt are better at this due to similar designs.
Disguise, fly around, find unsuspecting (And preferably solitary) victim, land behind them, two EMP rounds and maybe a melee move, transform, heal if necessary, get to as secluded spot until Disguise recharges, repeat.

Huh, maybe I'm just really good at it.
EDIT: Wanted to mention this:

That wouldn't change anything, it would just lead to Spychecking, just like TF2. Rule #1 in TF2: Shoot everyone you see, teammates included, the "TF2 handshake." Like WfC, there is no friendly-fire, so if it dies, it's a Spy.

Re: War For Cybertron Map and Character Pack #1 DLC
You're forgetting that most people in this game are obvious n00bs Shadowman. Or they wouldn't fall for Disguise as often as you say they do. I never fall for it. Red crosshairs = derp gonna shoot you. Autobot colors on Decepticon skins with blue names or Decepticon colors on Autobot skins with blue names = herp gonna melee you and laugh when you die.
Scientist is one of the best classes. I think it and Leader are at the top at least in my experience. I have three builds for my Scientist and they're all deadly. Battle Medic with Slipstream's/Air Raid's skin Drain/Sentry and Range Finder, Battle Medic, Blaster Amplifier; Air War with Shockwave's/Jetfire's skin Shockwave/Sentry and Rocket Sentry, Sentry Armor, Blaster Amplifier; and last but not least (as it's probably the most useful) Medic as Seeker/Silverbolt's skin with Drain/Sentry and Repair Sentry, Energon Optimization, and Sanctuary. All have Photon Burst Rifle as main and Energon Repair Ray as secondary weapons but Medic as his weapons are reversed. Now a lot of people don't think to run pure Medics for Multiplayer, but other than solo Death Match they excel at everything. You'll need to roll with the entire group, race to your partners and heal them, and try to stick with people. Because if the other team is good they're going to notice that you're keeping your entire team alive and being it's MVP. Then they'll start targeting you above everyone else.

I agree. All that I play is team deathmatch running scientist and im at 5448 kills and 3100 deaths w/ 2200 assists. Disguise in my opinion is a necessity when playing the scientist class. Yes its easy to spot a disguised scientist when your looking for one. If you are playing a scientist the way it is supposed to be played your coming up behind a battle already in progress in disguise. If you notice someone looking in your direction try to roll around the next corner and come up from a different direction. Dont allow them to put their cursor over for that pass and chances are theyll turn around and start fighting someone else. You have to play smart just because your in disguise doesnt mean that you can fly in a straight line towards them then be upset when you get your head sparked off.
Oh and if anyone wants to play a few games on Xbox 360 Gamertag Is I WildCard I

i hope we see Dead End soon, and would love more colours, especially for Cons, but Bots need white. wouldn't mind some of the generic Autobots and Decepticons that we slaughter as well, if they're doing it on the cheap. I'd love some more actual new stuff too.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I was surprised the drone models didn't show up as multiplayer chassis actually. I wonder how much extra High Moon would have to do to add the additional animations to make them playable (transformation to integrate weapons, etc.).

Yeah those two skins work well for Disguise. I don't tend to be fooled that often by Scientists, but there've been a couple occasions where the other guy flew in, stood next to me for a second like an ally, then backsmashed me once I wasn't paying attention to him.
So it can work, it depends on the scenario and the players involved.
Also, is there any announcement for future patches? I've heard 360 already has been patched, whereas PS3 hasn't even received an update yet.
Can't tell if High Moon is really gonna support this beyond DLC or not.

Re: War For Cybertron Map and Character Pack #1 DLC
okay, so... getting away from this disguise discussion...
I had a question about the DLC escalation characters. I preordered shockwave, so I know that he's got the 'shockwave' and 'hover' abilities. What abilities do Jazz and Demolishor have in escalation?
At this point, we can only speculate on Onslaught and Scattershot... though I imagine Onslaught will be a 'warcy' type, since none of the other decepticons have that.

I only know that Demolishor has ammo matrix for escalation. Apparently that is highly useful in that mode as you can generate ammo for everyone and save the cash for other things like opening doors.

I just realized, I have no idea - is Demolisher's chassis a truck or tank for multiplayer? I don't think I've ever seen one anywhere online.
edit: just watched the Amazon pre-order vid, and it looks like he's another tank, right?

I'm pretty sure it would have posted, but since I have not heard anything new....
Has anyone heard any new news on this DLC? I find it odd that it showed up on Xbox Live, but was taken down. I have not heard ANYTHING about PS3 DLC....

Waiting won't do you much good. It doesn't matter when you buy the game, you still have to buy the DLC separate. Even then, we don't know when the DLC is coming out, it could be months from now. And also it's a really damn good game. DLC or no, it's still something you shouldn't deprive yourself of, like air, but better because air doesn't have giant robots that turn into cars.
