Never heard of him, but if it's metal, I'll look up the name and song later.

I never listened to it, but it kept popping up. So gave it a spin and it hit the spot. It's kinda grindcore, kinda black metal, all insanity.

I think I'll like it, then. I actually liked Ministry's Jesus Built My Hot Rod, and I doubt any song can be more insane than a drunk redneck spouting random nonsense. Image

I do enjoy Ministry, but Jesus Built My Hotrod isn't even the most abrasive song on Psalm 69. There's no possible way it compares to Anaal Nathrakh, and they've really soften up over the years. Their recent stuff is more grindy, but old stuff like The Codex Necro is just out of this world. Jesus Built My Hotrod is a lullaby by comparison.

RhA, on the topic of death metal and Sweden, do you know any of the OSDM bands that are essentially all trying to make early 90s death metal? Entrails is particularly excellent.

I should stop in this thread more often. I never really did because I didn't think anyone would actually be listening to the extreme stuff.

Yeah, matter of fact a buddy of mine pointed Entrails out just this week. Good stuff.

I got 'In the constellation...' a week or two ago and it blew me away. It's chaos and yet they manage to pull off recognizable compositions. No small feat!

But my biggest love is deathmetal. I love Hate Eternal, Morbid Angel, Bloodbath and so forth. Thrashmetal is also sweet stuff, with which to Swedish know what to do very well. The Haunted has made some kickass stuff.

Definitely checking out Ministry's other songs in that case, as well as Entrails. A friend recommended Jesus Built My Hot Rod to me recently, and that was the first and only Ministry song I listened to, so far. To be honest, I haven't really kept up with the metal scene since I left college (right about the time Metallica started with their redneck metal nonsense).

Time to throw a totally different genre in there! Currently obsessed with Youngblood Brass Band's song Brooklyn. I literally can't find a single thing wrong with it, and the trombone player is absolutely killer.

Started listening to Ornette Coleman's stuff. It's great, surprised he's not as popular in the jazz world as other sax players like Bird and Coltrane.

I'm on my Regina Spektor/Tori Amos bender again, and stuff influenced by them.

This evening was Laura Marling's most recent album, especially Warrior and False Hope.

I do sometimes think certain Videogame Music is better than a lot of Modern Movie scores though. Perhaps due to less artistic constraint.
