Japanese Tigerfalcon vs US Tigerhawk (any differences?)

Postby xyl360 » Sat Oct 15, 2011 4:58 am

Greetings :)

As the topic title states, I'm curious as to any differences between the two versions of Tigerhawk from Beast Wars, i.e. the US/Hasbro version and the Japanese/Takara version (known as Tigerfalcon).

Info and images on the internet seem to be pretty limited so I was wondering if there were any color differences at all as there are with many of the other Japanese Beast Wars releases.

If anyone could shed some light on the subject I would be very grateful.

Thanks :)

BW is not my strong point I'm afraid, but no info will often point to the fact that there isn't any.

Hopw that helps a little.

Thanks, and yep, that was sort of what I was thinking as well, but the lack of pictures of him out of package anywhere on the net had me wondering.

Hopefully someone here has one or has seen him in person and can shed some light (I never have unfortunately, and I can't really tell if it's different at all or not based on the few in-package images I've seen on BBTS/ebay etc.).

As far as I know, there aren't any differences. If anything the blue would have been changed to a show-accurate purple, but I've yet to see Tigerfalcon.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

The purple I did myself by putting a light coat of clear red acrylic over the blue, ended up being pretty much perfect. I was hoping they'd done the fur in white instead of the purplish/pinkish tinted white used by Hasbro. I could try to paint over it with some white to lighten it up, but my skills aren't that great and I'm afraid I'd screw up in places, painting over the black stripes.

I know what you mean. When I got Tigerhawk a few years back and opened him (commiting a sin, opening a pre-RiD MISB figure  ) I thought he looked a bit pinkish. O well, I'll take that over yellowing anyday.

Very true, yellowing is the worst. Thankfully it doesn't bug me that much, it's just one of the few Beast Wars figs I couldn't get quite as show-accurate as I'd have liked (the others were easy to paint or didn't need it).

Don't feel too bad about opening him up, I open all my figures, regardless of age (of course, whenever I buy something really vintage, i.e. G1, I do NOT buy MISB since I'm gonna open it anyway, I just try to find one that's loose and in at least semi-decent condition, not because I can't afford the MISB, but it's not worth the extra money to me and I don't want to buy it just to open it knowing full well that there are plenty of MISB collectors out there that would want to buy it and keep it in the box, so I leave it for them).
