Leader Ironhide is...

I've been fiddling with my Ironhide I picked up and Costo and he is by far the best figure of the line.
He has not only 1, but 3 mechtech weapons and the big plus being that the mechtech is built onto the figure itself. One mechtech for each arm and the chest. He also has a cannon and bowie knife stored in each side of his legs.
To me, this toy is proof that mechtech could have been so much more.

I especially like the knife storage in his legs. The transformation is not overly complex and the figure is sturdy and thick. Well made!
The only faults I find are 1) the front fenders pop off much too easily during transformation, 2) the arms can come unclamped fairly easily when trying to pose them, and 3) the arm cannons are a bit too small (but have to be otherwise the proportions of the truck would be off.)
I'm still hoping for a leader Ratchet (or at least an HA figure bigger than the voyager), a leader Blackout and Voyager or HA Bonecrusher from the 1st movie.

About 10 inches or so.
Yes, the fenders and arms plates are a bit of a pain, but considering how awesome this figure is, I consider them only minor complaints.

Now a HA Ratchet and Bonecrusher or at least voyager would be sweet. Yeah, I'd be all over a leader blackout too.

It definitely has some faults with the chest panels and stuff, but when it comes to the DOTM line itself, it is the best of the line. Yes, there are better figures, but I'm only looking at the DOTM portion of the franchise. The overall look and fact that the mechtech weapons aren't ugly bricks, but are built into the figure make it the best of the set.
Yes I will admit that my post was a very opinionated post, but I feel that I can genuinely say Ironhide is the best of the DOTM line after owning all the figures for this set.

I get him home and open him up. I notice that while the front lever opens up the chest cannon properly with all the accompanying sounds and lights, the back lever by his neck doesnt push down all the way, causing the cannon to emerge only half way. I push a little harder and there is a sickening click and now the lights and sounds for the chest cannon don't work at all. Guess it's back to the friggin store again tommorrow.

You were also a lot younger then.
Mine has issues with the bowie knife. The 3 pegs in it make it almost impossible to remove. I've got a stress mark on the blue plastic and I'm afrraid to get the knife out.
Still, he is an awesome figure. Just wish the knife wasn't as tightly pegged in.

I take my 2nd jacked up Ironhide back to the TRU near where I work. I manage to locate just one...the only one in the whole store. Lucky, huh?
Guess again.
Right there in the store I test it out through the "try me" portal in the package. The chest cannon works fine, but when I pressed the other button on his upper chest the mouth plate lowers and...NO LIGHTS AND SOUNDS WHATSOEVER! The thing is defective in the package. I had to settle for a refund for the time being.
What's with these damn things? Has Hasbro finally cut so many corners to lower costs that they have finally reached the "cheaply made crap" echelon?

Keep in mind that it is the "Try me" feature that everyone gets to play with at the store, so its understandable if the only one in the store gets abused to the point were it doesn't work. I remember i had t go through a few Leader class Optimus Primes before i found one that worked right. Concidering how rare Ironhide is right now i can see the few that arrive in stores getting molested!
Suck my popsicle!! :p

After opening and messing with it, I am thoroughly impressed. The Bowie knife came off the pegs without a problem, and looks really good with him wielding it. I don't even have his MechTech stuff activated, and he looks f**king badass. I can honestly do without the chest gimmick, though it works perfectly. I don't even want to transform him into truck mode, he looks so good in robot mode.
Agreed, definitely the best of the DotM line I have seen so far.
BTW, is there a way to make his face mask stay down? His face is very well articulated and is accurate, I want to be able to see it.

He's glaring at me right now and threatening me with his Bowie knife. This figure is pure WIN.
