Personally if its not meant to be Magnus *it don't* count for me. Otherwise we need to count all Prime repaints whether meant to be Magnus or not. So then Bape Prime or Black Convoy (not Nemesis, not Scourge) count?

Or instead of making a list for White Magnii, just best White Repants of a Prime mold regardless of character.

Which just ends up being best "Prime molds that are white".

Also maybe limit it to transforming ones?

OH man, Black Primes were such a headache. I remember Seibertronian Megatronus taking on that list, brave fellow, and he went with the idea of Nemesis with a Predominantly black, teal, and red color scheme.

Honestly, I didnt realize we were still taling about making a concrete top list. I thought we were just listing out everythign that was ou there for fun. If I did make a list it would be Top 5 Prime/Convoy redecosand keep it broad so that everyone coudl talk and not worry about giving a recomendation in the comments.

But even then, would the G1 Optimus Prime toy be consiered one of them, he is a redeco of Convoy afterall.

You could leave out those that were turned into new characters, Optimus Prime alone came in an assortment of colors throughout his incarnations. Blue, green, black, white...

I'd say more of a variant since the differences are fairly minimal. Maybe as a silly honorable mention?

To me, he's special for a few reasons:

1) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's the first original Magnus mold no? If not, he's definitely one of the first, so that's neat.

2) G1 UM was goofy, and so is this one. G1 is a brick with extendo vacuum arms. The RID one is oddly proportioned, what with his giant legs, but I find it endearing since he's posable and fun to play with.

3) DAT TRUCK MODE. It looks like he could blow through a million Decepticons without a scratch

4) The lore behind him. Not only is it neat seeing Prime and Mags established as brothers, but I like the underdogs and turncoats. He was a huge jerk, which was much more interesting than "I can't deal with that now!"

5) He combines to make a SOOPER PRIME. He can be unstable, but still cool.

So yeah, that's my love explained

You're not alone. I adored my RID Magnus. I particularly loved his headsculpt, which like all the RID original tooling figures combined the best elements of classic Transformers, the Beast Era and a bit of Brave. I'm kinda sad the reissue is going to omit a lot of the chrome, especially on the front of the car carrier. That gleaming blue and silver was so sexy.

You're not alone. I adored my RID Magnus. I love him too. I remember when I discovered him at a Japanese import shop in Chicago before he was released domestically.
1st, I pooped myself, then I immediately emptied my wallet on their cash wrap.

Had I written the list alone. He would have been on it for sure, but Will and I had to work together to come up with the best collaborative list we could. which I still think is pretty solid list.

Oh, yeah, R.I.D Magnus is an awesome toy. Love the fact that his sounds change depending on how and where his gun is plugged in, or if he's combined with Prime or not.

"Omega Fire!!!" and "Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Combine!!"

Unfortunately the Chrome on mine is just flaking off horribly, but still one of my favorite figures.

Also since we are talking about possible Magnii, its a Cybertron Prime never got made into a Magnus.

I mentioned this a little earlier in the thread. I remember as a kid I kept waiting and kept waiting for the retool.. but it just never came. I also said that I thought an "Ultra Manta" (Depth Charge from Beast Wars) would have been cool. I always wanted to find a cheap Depth Charge to repaint into patriotic Magnus colors.

Put me down as another one who loves RID 2000 Ultra Magnus. A really neat toy with some cool gimmicks, and really is vastly more interesting than G1 Magnus.

CW Magnus is my #1, he is perfect and so great. I love him, he is the definitive Magnus to me.

Animated is a BOSS. He is my favorite Leader class figure I own, which is saying something. Bot mode is awesome, truck mode is badass, and the transformation is involved but not super difficult and still fun.

that legends Magnus from Prime is pretty sweet, I love it. I wish he could hold his hammer better.

The voyager Beast Hunters Magnus is also pretty good.

Come to think of it, I don't own a bad Magnus toy. All 4 rock!

Well RID Magnus was gonna be in the honourable mentions but someone just had to have Ultra Mammoth there

I like RID 2001 Magnus too, though I dont think he is top 5 when seen as an individual toy.
The alt mode is excellent.

I got that animated Magnus from Cram, and he is so awesome!!! While I personally like the idea and the look of CW Magnus, and he is my favorite Magnus, Animated Magnus is a better Leader class figure, if that makes sense. All the big huge chunks of robot and alt mode that move around is awesome, the weight and the shear presence of him is awesome, and the amount of weapons, and that awesome can't be beat hammer, make him a true Leader figure, the pinnacle of leaders.
