I've already perused the Ask Halo, Locust, and (me!) thread of yore.
I still find myself chuckling at all the quips and jokes there. Decided to archive the funnier stuff incase this site ever bites the big one.

Honestly, the WDHQ and its sequels probably influenced my style of humor more than anything.
Going back through them has been a blast. I'm on page 20 of Starbse Trion still archiving stuff and I've been laughing at a lot of the old gags. But something in there jarred a memory that is potentially pretty somber. I used to AIM with Locust about sprite projects (remember AIM?) and he told me that he was older than me, and in Starbase I saw he admitted he was over 300 lbs. Considering how old I am now, I hope he changed his lifestyle habits. I'd hate to learn someday that Locust isn't with us anymore. He was my first real friend on this website.

But I'm also reminded of how the spammers (like me!) influenced the site. The destruction of the party forum, quote limit being put in place after we kept making pyramids.
But I'm seeing a surprising amount of posts of us complaining about deleted posts. I really didn't remember this happening as often as it did. then again I used to have 30K posts and now I'm down to 6K so its clearly happened more than I think.
Another reason I have for archiving those threads is... because I wanna write a book. its a comedy, and I wanna have fodder, inspiration to draw on. Because the tone I want to have is somewhat reminiscent of the building threads.
EDIT: I managed to get 5 pages of the 1st starbase trion building thread but the other building threads are totally lost. Internet Archive only has so much magic it seems.

So I'm nearly done combing through the Ask thread of ancient days, salvaging what I can for a book I wanna write.
I gotta admit it made me nostalgic. Seeing us talk about stuff that was new at the time, games, movies, even shitting on Bush as fun as that used to be. But I could see familiar faces dropping off, new ones coming in, the gap between posts getting bigger and bigger, people talking about college and jobs.
Then I come across this as I'm nearing the end of the ask thread.
Really hits different now that there's not really anyone here. Honestly I feel more like I'm putting graffiti on the wall of an abandoned building than posting on a forum.
I wish I could pull more data but so much of its been lost over the years. I can't even ask most of the people about the old memes and jokes because no one's here.

damn right.
Funny how a site meant for nerding out about one of hasbro's IPs came to be so much more. Ryan did a good job making this place so much more than that. (Ya hear that Ryan!? I said something positive about ya!) Never gave him props for that but he did. ... at least until he killed the party forum. that was a mistake.
Some part of me is holding out that some familiar face might see these threads I made and might respond. While archiving I did manage to find the DA pages of some familiar faces. Neko, Halo (she's freakin' pretty!), and its good to see they're alive.
Part of the reason I started the new Ask thread was just to test how dead this site really is. the patient is weak, but not dead. That, and to have a taste of the old spamming days again.

The place has changed a lot, mostly due to everything changing. Most people I knew here are gone, save for a couple old heads like you. But be careful what you say anymore, opposing opinions are frowned upon these days.
I've noticed.
Its not like I'm going to have anyone to talk to regularly here so I doubt I'll run into trouble.

I think (and someone can correct me on this), the Mods sort of just decided if a person was "mature" enough.

No, it was simply removed from the normal board index, but I and some others figured out a few backdoors into the old party board. It never had a rated +18 barrier.
As for Shadowman's Party Forum that he made when Ryan removed the one here, that I know never had any kind of age restriction.
I can see a little of the old party forum here on the internet archive (but no threads survive) but shadow's party form has plenty of old content on the archive.
