Lugnut: Awesome, but...

I'm not sure if he was like this out of the box or whether it happened when I had to carry him in my bag loose for a while but while the figure is absolutely fantastic in all other regards his rubber cockpit halves have murphed totally out of symmetry and on one side the part just above his "smile" is bending outwards instead of slotting in.
I know that these problems are easier to solve than problems with the plastic but it just feels like a cheap touch on an otherwise great figure.

Yes! Thank you. The chest pieces are annoying. Fortunately the leg pieces hold it together in vehicle mode. What an odd choice of materials for construction.

Well it can't be for safety reasons because he has the hard plastic cannons on the side of the cockpit that could easily poke an eye out. The only reasons I can think of other than cheapness is that it would either be too hard to get all those little panes of red plastic into another piece of plastic (the whole section would have to be made of transparent plastic which probably wouldn't take the paint so well) or that the twin joints that let the cockpit pieces swing back and forth would put too much strain on a plastic piece.
Either way it's still disappointing.

I think the rubber bits are preemptive QC.

How do you properly transform the shoulders? curious cuz what little time I had to play w/ him last night I couldn't help but feel something was off.
Also, mine came w/ two left wing end pieces. I emailed BBTS about a replacement, hopefully It can be resolved.

Do you have the United version or the RTS version? I have the UN version and I see why the cockpit is made of rubber because once you set the shoulders/arms/whatever they are they grind the sides of the separated nosecone.
Overall the translation to being more of a movie/classics figure did not translate well exactly but I like him. I want to know if the RTS version has the same rubber cockpit as well.

It's RTS. I can understand why they made the parts out of rubber, I'm just annoyed by the results. Still he's a great figure so I really can't complain. I wonder what the weird-headed repaint will be?

I have to see that in the manual when I get the RTS version. I didn't see anything like that in the United instructions.
Yeah the UN version has the rubber too, and what's worse it's darker than what I see form the RTS pictures so eventually I may see some rubbin away of the paint. Overall I like him and the UN colrs give him a much better look. The only part that makes me upset is the head...the fact that it is a shiny pruple and the rest is not kinda makes me feel like they couldn't figure out where to put the shiny bits of paint.

Did you really need to resurrect a 2-year-old thread just to say that?
