Ok I'm gonna pull the trigger on a third party gestalt on Friday.

I'm choosing between giant and brute, giant is usually 355 and the re-release of brute with the upgrades is about 240-250ish. The money doesn't bug me on deciding which I get, I know I'm going to obtain both, but would like some friendly insight on which would be better to acquire first.

I love both characters of these gestalts, brute a little bit more. But maketoys giant looks AMAZING. :BANG_HEAD:

which figure seems more sturdy/solid, possible, and just in general fun cause I'm mostly just play with them.

lets hear those hand on comparisons, thank you guys! :BOT: :CON:

The FP items will probably disappear quickly, so I'd get that first. Between Herc and the upcoming KO of Green Giant, I think that'll stick around for a longer time.

Comparisons ... are tough. Giant is brilliant and a great update to all the Constructicons. But Colossus is brilliant for an entirely different reason. It transforms a fairly medeocre combiner into something truly great. Still, while the FP additions are superb homages, the original limbs aren't so much. They're less G1 then the limbs of Giant (save for Long Haul).

In terms of playability, I think the combined Colossus set beats out Giant because of the number of accessories. Colossus has TONS of guns! And he's even more fun with WSTF Shockwave (a must buy for any Bruticus fan). Giant has quite a few options himself, both for the regular bots and for the combined mode, but it really doesn't beat out Colossus in terms of options. Of course, Giant doesn't need quite as many accessories to work in combined mode, so there's that to consider.

In terms of posability, I think Colossus wins out. Giant's hip flaps prevent a lot of the leg's forward motion while Colosuss' merely pops off if there's a problem.

But, really, I think availability should be the main concern. I think the FP items will run out faster than the Giant items. So you ought to get them first.

Well comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges, my friend. One is a completely original figure. The other is a Hasbro set with upgrades. Im not a fan of Giant simply because the individual bot modes are not cartoon accurate. They almost look like Go-Bots. I own Hercules because the cartoon accuracy is more on point once you add the reprolabels and Crazydevy parts. On to Fansproject Bruticus. I own the energon, ROTF, and TFCC versions of the mold with Reprolabels and the Crossfire figures as well as the Flameblast and Warcry repaints. This gives me a wide variety of choices for Bruticus and a ground troop of minions that represents the Combaticons in one form or another. I liked the set so much, I decided to buy the Asia exclusive set and the upcoming Crossfire repaints to have an aditional energon/G2 Bruticus on display too. So I would definatally recommend the Bruticus set first. If you are willing to wait for the crossfire repaints and combine them with the Asia exclusives, you will only drop $260 plus shipping at BBTS. Heres the links:

Way cheaper than Giant. Not that I completely hate Giant. I want to buy the yellow version for my G2 shelf. Im just waiting for someone on e-bay in need of quick cash who will make me an offer I cant refuse. ;)

Anyways, the choice is yours. I recommend Fansproject Bruticus first. These things will go quick. Both Giant and Hercules will always be available somewhere because there are more Devastators out there than there are hardcore fans who would drop $400 and up.

Guys thanks for the quick and very insightful points made on both pieces.

FP products do seem to vanish very quick as noted, so that might be the first step then.

I guess I was just leaning towards Giant since I just got the FOC G2 Brute, but that really doesn't pass as great homage to brute anyways(plus those guys look dope just in there individual robot mode with they're toxic color schemes!!!)

FP Brute it is! .........but in time you will be mine Giant! :CON:

I'm in the same boat. Pre-ordered the upcoming Bruticus (the new paints and the grey "energon" weapons/add-on pieces did it for me) and FP recolours for now. Will get Giant in time.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

i guess im the opposite since ive got yellow giant as my autobot buildking and fp bruticus but if i had neither id get build king first. i think for me the combined/vehicle/bot modes are fantastic whereas bruticus has a fantastic combined mode but the figs themselves. well even with the fp addons theyre really sad interpretations of the combaticons (the hasbro figures)

but regardless enjoy your new figs whichever you get first.

If I could only have one combiner, it would be whichever Devastator homage tickled my fancy. He was the original, after all. But the other guys are dead right, FansProject stuff is notoriously hard to get on the secondary market. Giant is the better set, but the FP upgrades will disappear. Thankfully though, they have re-released most of their sets.

FP combaticons are great one of the best sets out but the only down side is hasbros brawl. I suggest FP first because your just in time for to get the recolors which is cool as. I dont have Giant but i really want him

Go with Bruticus. It's going to sell out fast and then the price will skyrocket. Again.
