Mario vs. Sonic

This is tough, but I think Mario has it.

When I was in elementary me and my friends used to make this battle every day. That's when the Sega CD was the cool thing to have and when we were all axiously waiting for the upcomming Jaguar 64...
Though I was a hard core Mario fan at the time, I eventually gave up trying to amke him win. Sonic has got spikes and speed. Mario can stump over some monsters but not spikey ones. Anyway sonic can do it too. I sonic has got all sorts of upgrades to give him the edge.

Super, Sonic may have speed, spikes, and the chaos emeralds.
But Mario has mushrooms, stars, fire flower, different caps(racoon, tookie, frog), a cape, not to mention the stomper shoe thing(Mario 3) that allows him to pretty much stomp anything.
I think Mario has enough crap to fall back on over the years to give him the edge over Sonic. Plus he could just use a star and let Sonic hit him. Instant-win.
