Does anyone play these? Are they any fun? I've been looking for a new CCG/TCG to get into (Star Trek, Star Wars, and LotR are all defunct now). I've been on the official sites and poking around the internet. I play the WoW MMORPG so the TCG looks kinda neat, but I'm a Marvel fan too and the new 'Universe' set for the VS System looks really neat!
Any input, good sites, annecdotes would be cool. This could be the "Official" CCG/TCG thread if we wanted too....
Thanks,
I.P.

Re: Marvel VS and WoW TCG
I ended up playing both of them, and I can honestly say, they both suck something fierce.
The VS rules were too stupid and convoluted to even make any sort of sense. The only good thing to come out of those games were the art on the cards.
Overpower was so much better.
As for the WoW TCG, it was poorly conceived. If only Blizzard gave the WoW TCG to someone who knew how to make good TCGs, Wizards of the Coast and not TOPPS.
The rules for WoW are basically a dumbed down version of Magic The Gathering, only way more confusing and stupid. Ally cards in the game are completely useless and can't survive more than 30 seconds after being placed out.
It really does seem like Topps took the rules for Magic, made them so anyone could easily understand them, then decided to explain it such a way that you weren't actually playing a card game but trying to solve complex math equations to open up a wormhole to travel across different dimensions where you run into different versions of yourselves and people you knew.

Don't hold back Senor Hugo, tell me how you really feel...
But seriously, thanks for the honest feedback. It's disappointing to here that they weren't any good - even if I had a sneaking suspicion they would. If you read the website for VS you'd think it was the greatest TCG since Magic.... Arg.
