This gives me an idea! With the power of wikipedia, I can have MP-08 Insecticons in 2009, MP-09 Red Alert in 2010, and MP Shockwave next week! Sweet!
If it's true through, then that's pretty awesome. There needs to be more proof though.

Anything Wikipedia says about future/upcoming toys should be taken with a truckload of salt.
Unless Takara/Tomy releases a press release themselves saying what MP07 is going to be, take it as pure guesswork, speculation and rumour.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

They're just reporting the rumors that have been discussed on all of the big TF sites. Nothing wrong with it if they put rumored, or something like that, but I hope nobody is actually adding that as a fact.

I've just checked out Wikipedia, it does say MP-07 is Grimlock, but not in 2009. Here's the statement from there:

Grimlock will get a masterpiece treatment in 2008.

A grimlock does make sence. He is a leader and a popular character and I am sure they will find a way to make him look really good in both modes.
I kind of wanted them to make a MP soundwave untill I started to think about what it would look like. There is no way to make that transformation impressive enough to merit that scale and that price tag. I am sattisfies enough by my MP3 one! What a great idea!

Well considering that MP-07 is already slated to be the US edition Starscream, I think Wiki got updated from a questionable source.

It was announced here (as a rumor) a few months ago that Grim would be next in line.
I still think Grimlock would be a waste of a Masterpeice. It wouldnt take much to take the G1 design and produce a toy that is well above today's standards for articulation and detail without spending all that money on making it an MP. Also how do they intend on making it complex enough for it to be concidered a Masterpeice?

Maybe they'll just make it a two-pack?
It had better have a lot of cool features if it does go into production.

Well, I think the dinobots, Blaster, Soundwave, the insecticons, the coneheads and Shockwave make the most sense.
My reasoning is as follows.
Firstly, we all know the MP line is a G1 line so no sense talking about anything after series 4/5.
Secondly, we have the BT line. True, they are not anime accurate, but bot modes are pretty close and they are in the right scale, especially compared to the MP seekers. Ofcourse, if any of the BT characters gt rereleased as a MP, I would chuck the BT in the garbage dispenser and get the MP one.
HOwever, for arguments sake, lets just say that Takra is looking at it like I am, with the BT line being like the Deluxe version of the line, and MP being like the Voyager.
In this scenario, the obvious choices for the MP line next wuld be TFs that do not transform into cars. Hence the Decepticons I noted along with Blaster and the Dinobots.
I think BT Laserwave, Grimlock, along with alt. Rumble and Ravage realy need to be excluded as the alt modes have nothing to do with the anime and hence are begging to be remade.
Finally, my vision of the MP line:
MP 8: Thundercracker - Ofcourse the seekers need completing.
MP 9: Grimlock
MP 10: Dirge - While MP 11 is being designed from scratch, Takara can fill the void with a simple retooling of MP 3 into Dirge
MP 11: Shockwave
MP 12: Ramjet - See reasoning for mp 10
MP 13: Soundwave with Blue Rumble, Ravage, Laserbeak.
MP 14: Thrust - See MP 10
MP 15: Blaster with Eject, Ramhorn and Rewind- Retooled from Soundwave
MP 16: Rodimus Prime
MP 17 onwards: If there is still some steam left in the line, I would propose a Kup, Blurr, along wioth the rest of the dinobots and the insecticons.
A decade from now: We can all die happy.

Just remember, anyone can edit a wiki, so any TF fan who wants to believe the rumors could have chucked that up there.

I find Grimlock and odd but not unwelcome choice for Masterpeice. I've always assumed they would stick to vehicliar or realistic alt-modes, a giant robot T-rex would be a bit of a curve ball concidering the line to date. However I do think there would be plenty of scope for making a great masterpeice out of him, like hide the T-rex head in robot mode rather than have it hang of his back and incorperate the sword and gun into his transformation in some way.

Could they make him look like a real T-Rex but have his robotic T-Rex underneath, a la the Shockwave Spotlight?
