Now that MP Soundwave is also coming out, one of the last MPs I want would be Devastator. Any thoughts if this will ever be made? Would pay upward of $400 if it ever cane
out.

Considering some people including myself spent upwards of $600 for Hercules, i suspect people would shell out for a Mp devy. However, many of those people are content having Hercules or Giant as a MP Devy but if it was done right, I would be down.

I could see it getting released eventually. It would be a sight to see. And considering that bot modes are in scale now in the MP line, MP Devvy would be as big, or bigger than Herc.

It seems like since 3rd party groups have been able to do it, an "official" Dev seems to make sense. I've held off on buying an unofficial one with the hopes that a MP comes out.

Make it and buyers will come!

Indeed, and it would be GLORIOUS(ly out of my price range! :HEADHURTS:

). Seriously though, if 3rd parties can pull it off, it should be a no brainer for HasTak.

The only way I'd get a MP Devy is if the Constructicons were all in scale with Sideswipe, and they combine. It would be massive, and I would pay $600 or a little more for it. I wouldn't want him if he was just 1 big piece instead of 6 combinable ones.

I don't think I'd pay more than 300 bucks for a MP devastator. It'd be nice if they did one, but everyone seems to have their own idea of how it could be done.

Really? Cos they haven't done a decent combiner since RiD.

They want the new MP line to be in scale and it seems they're going by vehicle mode. That would make six figures as big as OP. It would probably cost around 900.

If they made them all to Masterpiece scale, I shudder to think of the stability issues with a combiner that big. I mean, we're talking six guys as big as Sideswipe, who is about 2/3 the size of New Prime. That would make the combined Devy about 3-4 feet tall. Imagine if it toppled. :sad:

But, as long as the transformations to limb mode are relatively simple and sturdy, and the joints are super tight, it could work out. And it would be GLORIOUS.

I'm not sure I would want one that big...as long as the combined robot is as big as Optimus or slightly bigger, I'd be happy. The Green Giant version looks nice, I just seem to prefer "official" MPs.

The trouble is, all the MP's bot modes from MP-10 on are in scale. So either the bot modes of the individual Constructicons would have to in scale... or Devastator himself would.

Most collectors who would be willing to pay $400+ for a MP Devasatator have probably already bought one of the 3rd-party ones, so there wouldn't be much market for a Hasbro version, and I'm sure Hasbro is aware of this.

That would imply that Mp Devvy wouldn't blow 3rd party crap out of the water design/G1 accuracy-wise. >:oP

I'm sorry but I'm sick and tired of seeing the character getting rehashed. Albeit none of it iss 'official', I'm still lethargic about Devastator, Devastator, Devastator and Devastator talk because there are more than a dozen other G1 Gestalts that could receive love, whether that be part of the Masterpiece toyline or not.

If HasTak can't even make a decent combiner at the Supreme level, then I don't see them doing it at the Masterpiece level either.

I'd rather have the G1 character get flushed out rather than Devastator. Devastator is always going to be displayed combined, not individually, and it's never going to be 'right'. There are so many different angles, 'scale' to deal with, colors and what not. Taking a look at Hercs and Giant, it's crazy how different they can be. And also taking a look at Hercs and Giant, should give you the recognition that they are legit toys and you should just pull the trigger on either purchase, instead of waiting on Hasbro, who in my opinion, will never release another G1 Devastator, in the Classicsverse or Masterpiece.

There seems to be a lot of assumptions and opinions in this post. Especially the one about HasTak not making a decent-sized Supreme-class combiner.

It's like saying there'll never be a decent Optimus Prime for RoTF because the 2007 Optimus molds weren't too great. There are different design teams for different projects, and I doubt the same design team that done Energon Devastator would be in charge of an MP Devvy. >:oP

I would like to have a great Devestator, but I don't think I would want it to be MP sized. I don't have anywhere to put it. I would just love them to do an accurate Classics version.

I was actually going to start a thread along the lines of "if you could have any gestalt as a Masterpiece, who would it be", but this fits nicely. I am going ALL Masterpiece with my collection (outside of some Binaltechs and my old G1s from childhood), so I am selling a lot of my 3rd party items (also bc I am poor, and need cash for Sideswipe and Soundwave), but I would be very on board with a massive MP Dev, with each member about the size of MP Rodimus. That said, I think I'd somewhat prefer almost any other gestalt, like Superion (with component jets sized to the MP seekers, and really big Silverbolt), and Predaking. But if we get an MP Dev, I'll be putting in the overtime to earn the coin for it!

I've been thinking about it since Toyworld released their attempt at it based heavily off Studio Ox's Devastator, and I've pretty much concluded that there's almost no way you could get a perfect cartoon aesthetic in robot mode and anywhere near an accurate construction vehicle. The robot modes are far too simplified, and the combined mode is simplified even further. In short, I think a truely cartoon-accurate Mastepiece Devastator, or any of the Combiners, really, is not possible.

The best we should hope for is an amalgamation of cartoon aesthetics and G1 toy design, which is what Toyworld aaaaalmost delivers, but not entirely. I'm still waiting for another company to refine their attempt, but I've read that Hasbro's CW Devy is as close as they or TT are going to come for a while, and it is frankly not even close.
