I'm not crazy about making every bot with a faceplate have a "real" face underneath -- or rather the implication that there's a certain "normal" for Transformers and anything that doesn't fit NEEDS an explanation -- but this is fun! A neat little hidden detail and an Animated homage. A shame, though, about the giant hole in his head...

I think it's a big stretch to call the face an Animated homage. I don't think the two look similar in the least.
