while im sad that he doesn't have the words Marlboro on him I can understand that they probably had to make certain compromises to get the licensing for the stratos mold and paint scheme. hopefully we get something in the way of stickers for it.

Boom, this right here. This toy is just a fantastic thing to see because it shows the faith that they have in the line right now. Were these not continuing to do well, we wouldn't see such a risky choice. Bravo!

The only thing odd about him is that he isn't an exclusive or a limited run figure. His case makes about as much sense as Hasbro's releasing of Crosscut in the Generations line as a mass release instead of some kind of exclusive.

I think Generations Rhinox is probably as close as we'll ever get to that.

But he's not 99% show-accurate like most MPs are.Nemesis Primal wrote:Autobot tap out wrote:though i wait for a masterpiece toy that ISN'T a G1 character

Beast Wars Telemocha Series TM-01 Convoy (Optimus Primal) would be a better example.

Rhinox is far more show accurate that that gorilla mode that looks very little like he did in the cartoon. I'm surprised to see you write that.
"99% show-accurate" would be an extreme stretch in my opinion, especially considering the level of detail that Masterpiece figures have that was absent in the cartoon models. The cartoons and G1 toys are definitely the inspiration and I would consider very difficult to put a percentage on it that didn't make it seem like a blanket statement.

Also, the Telemocha Convoy/Robot Masters Beast Convoy mold is much smaller than Masterpiece figures usually are, whereas Generations Rhinox is less tiny.

Maximals are not giants like Autobots, so he's well scaled with his much larger ancestors.

Speaking of which, would anyone else love to see a Beast Wars Cyberverse line? That would be awesome.

While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

Cuz it's a brand new character never been given a TF toy until now.Optimizzy wrote:Im totally unfamiliar with this character.
The deco and remolding, however, are based on a variant of the Diaclone toy that would become G1 Wheeljack. A variant that had a different head and with colors and endorsement decals that promoted Malboro cigarettes, but with the word intentionally misspelled as "Marlboor". Hence, the figure was referred by fans as "Marlboor Wheeljack" for years until this toy finally gave it an official TF name.

It says Good Flavor.

"Year, 1945, Exhaust is awarded the key to Iacon, by the Cybertronian senate for spreading the joys of shmoking to people of all walks of life. 9 in 10 mnemosurgeons recommend Marlboor; mmm "healthy" *cough*. So what does the future hold for Exhaust, who knows, but you can find him anytime in Kaon as both a spokesman and as a huge fan of the gladiatorial games! The smart money's on that plucky young go-getter Megatron.
(Kids do not smoke seriously now, it's a bad idea.)

ugh. I really don't know whats more irritating: A marlboor wheeljack turned into a new character that nobody really asked for turned into a masterpiece or that many of you seem excited.
Don't take it personal please, to each his own, but I get irritated at the "quick buck" mentality sometimes. Acid Rain and Sunstorm masterpieces are examples of that to me. Same with this. I expect "one of a kind" quality with masterpiece and it just seems like a more expensive version of everything else.
forgive me. in a bad mood.

Problem is, the uses for a Wheeljack MP mold are severely limited. You got Wheeljack, Smoke-Filled Delicious Wheeljack aka Exhaust, and Slicer. That "quick buck" mentality is what is going to pay for the extremely one-off MP Sunstreaker (hopefully) down the road. Because guess who Sunstreaker gets a redeco as? No one.
Hopefully Takara will prove me wrong and do a Diaclone Sunstreaker version named Nemo.
