Mech-Tech on Older Figures??
- Motto: "Never do what your enemy expects you to do."

Last Night I was looking at a few of the figures I have for sale, most notably Energon Downshift and Energon Towline. I noticed something, that they had lots of odd 5 millimeter peg holes on the alt. Modes, and obnoxiously Large Energon Weapons, and resembled a prehistoric form of Mech-Tech. Just thought it was interesting in the resemblance it had to the New Mech-Tech in DOTM. Any thoughts, or other Characters you have noticed it on?

Mech Tech is not just pegging your guns on your alternate form of a transformer, otherwise all G1-based forms of the Seekers, HFTD Rescue Ratchet, and otherwise, would've had Mech Tech. Mech Tech is pegging your guns on your alternate form of a transform where the weapon has some kind of technique where when you press a button or flick a knob, the main weapon (like the saw in DOTM Ratchet and Fusion Cannon in DOTM Megatron) will be present. You might be able to peg Mech Tech weapons in there, but Mech Tech is completely new.

I know That, I was Just saying there is a very strong resemblance, and there is moch more of a Stuck on for effect look with the two I mentioned. As Well, you can transform Towline's gun into a Much Longer Rifle, ala Mech-Tech, just manually.

Not necessarily, it is just a change of gun length. You may say: "well DOTM Voyager Megatron does that." That is not true. It extends to make a Fusion Cannon. When it is not larger in length, it is just a tube with basic holes. But believe as you wish. Mech Tech is a new type of fighting, as said by O.P in the DOTM Game Trailer.

Re: Mech-Tech on Older Figures??
Mech Tech is not new. It's a gimmick that was never really explored until only recently and then promptly given a fabulous name.
If you look hard enough through the last 25 years of the TF franchise you'll find elements of every gimmick in older lines.
Grandslam and Raindance come to mind as being the ancestor the the Autobot Powerlink gimmick. Micromasters are basically Minicons without peg to attach to figures. Cyberkeys are powermasters minus a figure to make the gimmick work.
Mechalive and Automorph can also be found in older toys.

They have to do with Automatic Transformation to the robot, not the weapon, so it really has nothing to do with Mech Tech. However you mean to say Older Live Action Film lines, not older toys. Automorph wasn't always around.

Okay, trying to figure out how to word this...
I was saying that none of the advertised gimmicks are original. You can find traces of them in any of the older lines. I'm not just counting the older movie lines.
Example, Armada Optimus Prime technically counts as a Automorph toy. The trailer automatically turns into the legs when you transform the body of Prime into super mode.
Automorph and mechalive do nothing to the specific weapons. They have to do with the robot. Mech tech has to do with weapons. You can find weapon based gimmicks all throughout the franchise.
The name mech tech is exclusive to DOTM, but the gimmick itself isn't.
Trust me, I've been at this for 20 years.

Thanks robofreak. That is what I was trying to word it as. There is traces of this in older series. I easily could see the next line wide gimmick being the clip system. It is simple, and it is effective, and Hasbro has tested it. It could be"Clip-Tech." It was never called that now, but the influence is from now.

Remember, Transformers Energon took up after Armada. Ever think those peg holes could be for Minicons?

At this point you're not even making sense.
The pegs serves a dual purpose. They are for the Energon weapon use and the Minicons.
I'm still not even sure how that affects that present topic.

Yeah, with you there. I just see it as Hasbro Has experimented with this before, so we Should not freak out. This has been used before, previous tings have done, it just happens to be an extension and Line Wide Gimmick. Energon Starscream's blade and Gun combine, DOTM Starscream's Mech-Tech Weapons Connect and Combine.

Ok that's what I'm freakin' saying *facepalm* if they serve for a dual purpose, and what I said was one of them, then how could it make no sense? Oh and with your 20 years comment that I forgot to quote and don't plan on doing anyway, are you trying to say I'm less educated in Transformers than you, then again learning about the entire history of Transformers in a minimum of 7 years? Listen, don't try to act smart and brag about being older and have been around since Generation 2. Yeah, 20 years ago was 1991 not 1980's. Look at this year's date
Your point being implied is that you're smarter, I'm retarted. Believe as you wish. Carry on with your own little beliefs. Gyrotron out. Make your celebration now

ShardFenix: I read you post and thought of 20 people that applies to in my life.
I want to sig quote it so badly, but I don't want to look like I'm picking on Gyrotron cause I'm not.
Anyways, my comment was not meant to say I was using age or anything like that. I just meant that I have been at this for a while so gimmicks don't seem new to me since I've seen them in almost everyline. I'm the type of collector who just likes to go after everything if he can.
And what's wrong with G2 Gyrotron? It was amazing! bright colors and the resurrection of the franchise. Who can argue that.
*Still eagerly awaits the day when G2 repaints of Universe Onslaught and Silverbolt are released*

God can't we all just live our lives on Seibertrn without having to go seeing a suckish little flamers trying to stir up some trouble. I'm frickin tired of seeing posts with people trying to insult others (obviously not Robofreak). And I'm sick and tired of everyone's retarted sarcasm. Seriously, let this thread die. Maybe Mech Tech is old news and their just giving it a new name, we have it settled, they are for guns and minicons, now let's fricken, and I'm being redundant, LET THIS THREAD DIE!
Oh shoot I made it go live again
