MOTU

It's interesting how Dan points out the criticisms of the OG Snake Mountain being that in contrast to Castle Greyskull. It was a whole lot of empty space. They could get away with that, back in the day I guess.

I just really don't see the point in repetition like that. Why not just reissue the Classics Filmation line? They were the most recent of the Classics range. So they should still hold up??
Meanwhile, I've got myself a checklist for the Galactic Guardians/Protectors:
Tuskador
Hydron
Mara
Icarius
Darius
He-Man (maybe)
I think that's it. The list doesn't seem as daunting as the Space Mutants was. I noted there isn't another "two" Optikks situation either. Also, no I don't include the Galactic Protector She-Ra in my collection. She wasn't in the show. So doesn't count.

Photog too (I'm just missing him and she-ra but seeing as Mara is/was she-ra in Netflix She-ra it's a timey wimey dimensional headache -all be it a good one). smaller list that I expected to already have them with out knowing.
Saw a sweet four arm custom of Marvel legends Hercules a long while back which might be customisable into Sagitar. The red guy from skeleton warriors can double as Darius in a pinch too for Origins sized figures. Gives me something to look out for at toyfairs.

^ Nice. I had that Grimskull!
Photog isn't NA though? Artilla was the resident mechanical weirdo of NA.

Weird, I always thought he was. looks like he was a competiton winning design for original he-man and only ever got a figure in classics. I'd just use him as NA and a creation of the scientists or something, to make up for the small roster of NA in classics.

That custom above looks like Russell Crowe.
I might just get that Skeletor from Mattel Creations. I'm not sure if the retail version has the shiny armor and the multiple faces and hands are a neat option to have.
Hopefully Walmart stocks just enough of the Cartoon line and doesn't overdo it with wave 1 like they did Origins.
The problem with the OG Snake Mountain is they focused more on outside play features where Grayskull was mostly interior features.
BTW, got a shipping notice from Target for Masterverse Slush Head. Unfortunately my Origins Sun-Man 3 pack was canceled. Hopefully it turns up in stores soon, preferably next week when they have their not-Amazon toy sale.

Still waiting to see what the tmnt motu figures will be like... I'm guessing the lazyish two packs like the cobra kai/street fighter sets. But hoping the boffins at Mattel get weird. If not maybe I'll end up trying to do my own at some point. Some low quality sketches included for my mad ideas.
Man E cases, switches faces for his various hockey mask designs over the years/comics.
Mikey at arms, green and orange so has to be him. Orange she'll with man at arms mace like design on it. Mace chucks.
Leo... Obviously leo fakor. Blue body with green limb wraps and black bandana for Leo fakor stripe. Comes with hooded head for tmnt jungle look. Sword gimmivj like 200x skeletor.
Battle raph. Tiger stripes on limbs. Red armored shell. Sais attach to forearm guards to look like claws. Yellow tiger stripes on limbs.
Donny, I was a bit stuckk on ideas but going back to the jack kirby tribute gun arm and in a fantasy world. Ended up going with fisto. The 200x man at arms gun would be perfect for him. Give him a bird sorceress style to perch on his staff. Figure roboto could be used for metal head instead of donny.

If TMNT MotU does happen then they should be more like the WWE or Power Rangers lines and the Turtles will be inspired by existing characters rather than two packs (that's more of Playmate's thing).
I'll play along with my own ideas:
He-Leo - Base it in part on the vintage Savage Leo figure, hair and all, give him two Power Swords.
Don-at-Arms - He does machines, give him purple armor.
Ram-Raph - The strongarm of the group, he can tuck into his shell for ram action.
Moss-Mike - Smells like pizza. Would have to be sculpted flocking, the real thing would be too expensive.
Teela O'Neal - Pallet swapped gold-yellow body suit and white armor.
King Splindor - It's just Randor as a rat.
Metalboto - Basically Metalhead with a clear torso/shell.
Shredator - A shredder similar to the vintage toy but with a skull head under the mask and blue skin.
Beastbop - A fuzzy orange Bebop or a pig themed Beast-Man, take your pick.
Trapsteady - A cyborg Rocksteady with a metal jaw.
Baxstor - Baxter as a spider instead of a fly
Krandak - A fully robot Hordak with an Utrom in his stomach.
I'm sure there's a bunch of others that can be done.

All great suggestions. But if we're talking character mash-ups, I'm still waiting on a figure for this one:

For Krang, I'd go King Krang, King hiss but intead of green snake limbs they would be pink and the utrom molded into the body. outer shell would look be painted to look like the orig android body.
Given the amount of collabs these days anything can happen, I would have thought somehting hasbro related would have been done before turtles with the recent barbie monopolys/hasbro uno collabs. Funko didnt even finish off the retro style thundercats

Turns out... Sorry for the pun, but not really, the spider hasn't meant to turn the wolf head. It's just another place it can hang (foutr places in total), the only illustration showing the wolfs head turning is shown by hand. I'd have liked a bit more crossplay with the other two monsters to be able to use the spider posts.
Stickers come preapplied and a little bit off, quite literally in the battery cover sticker. I'd have preferred them to have been on a sticker sheet that would never of got used.
The bridge... Yes it's narrow for origins figures but it also kinda just sits awarkdly too, rather than merging in to the cliffs. The bridge is one price which I wasn't expecting either but that adds stability. The hand rails are way too high when using mini figures but skeletor doesnt worry about occupational health and safety for his minions. It still looks good with the little guys on it and on the steps etc.
It's a toy snake mountain at actually toy prices rather than preowned automobile prices. Dunno if the material will last on the cave entrance and I can see the chains snapping like the old playset at some point. But for my first ever snake mountain (why 200x whyyyy) I'm liking it.
Also the cage is a lot more solid than I expected and does put the 200x grayskull to shame on that.
Packaging shows two bad and some snake specters or something (one has 200x snake armor hemans claw gauntlet which is a bit odd).
*just had notification of fangor shipping, lady slither must be taking her time slithering.

From the looks of the TMNT MOTU mock packaging they look a bit low effort
but at least it's not as bad as the repack the same tmnt with brand X
And I'm cofused over origins/collection, they are advertising the new stuff as origins despite the packaging not having origins on it, just collection underneath whatever part of MOTU sticker is above it (cartoon/movie etc). Which in all hopes means Origins isnt mattel only...
Anyways...new photos of shtufff
https://toynewsi.com/241-49964
Necro-conda is a must and looks like i'll have yet another skeletor because Demogorgon...let the MOTU collabs begin *erm, continue.

All retailers in Canada (amazon, toysrus, walmart and gamestop) have given up on this brand and my collection remains incomplete. We've had nothing new for a long time, it's really too bad.

Mattel seems to be in a similar situation as Hasbro. They are really terrible at international distribution IE Non-US/Japan.
Their marketing ineptitude makes you question how they both grew so big and have remained so long in business.

Toyark has more information and there is even more reveals to come this month
retailer exclusives dont mean much to us here in the UK, we will either be able to get them or not.
Retailer Exclusives:
• Specialty Stores: Fan Favorites King Randor, Ninjor, Webstor, Trap Jaw
• Walmart: Snake Men Lord Gra’sp, Terroar, Necro-Conda
• Target: Skeletor x Demogorgon 2-Pack
https://www.toyark.com/2023/10/03/skele ... ore-517621
The Origins/cartoon collection figures each have an episode specific accessory, probably tempting to rebuy the same character.
Still not too sure about the waves containing fan favourites rereleases when people are likely to want a newer cartoon collection look/updated sculpts -but good for those that missed out.
I'm glad I can skip out on revelations stuff but it looks like they have finally done a non jaundice revolution he-man with the battle armor version. I'll still try picking up that skeletor though along with the new eternia/movie figures.

Also Masterverse Gwildor & Orko and Movie Evil-Lyn are fan store exclusives (BBTS and the such).
Also, even though this is the "Spring 2024" line, these are supposed to start arriving at stores in November... yeah Fall 2023.

The new stuff is on BBTS now. Surprise! They're doing more reissues than those announced: She-Ra, original Merman and Zodac. Also no sign of Trap Jaw.
The Masterverse stuff looks really good, it's the only stuff I'm preordering because it's harder to find. I don't need any of the Origins reissues (have them all) and the Cartoon stuff will be cheaper at retail if they get properly stocked as promised. Just watch them overstock wave 1 and that's all we see into 2025.

Trying to avoid Trap Jaw overload maybe? They're already doing New Eternia in November and Cartoon in March. Also seems that we're getting three reissues at once and also a slow leak of additional reissues (solid cases?).
"4th Quarter 2023" - Randor, Ninjor and Webstor
November 2023 - Mer-Man
January 2024 - She-Ra
March 2024 - Zodac
May 2024 - Trap Jaw

Plus the mini comics trap jaw not long back (though that one hasnt been readily available here and practically hasnt been released). Battle armor revolutions he-man is questionable too when they already have new eternia version and it probably didnt need a revolution version -but they were happy enough to do Revolutions NPC generic villager Duncan, man at arms and new eternia. Maybe variety is good and hopefully a fourth man at arms for the movie later in the year.
Will be interesting to see if Smyths gets more of the walmart exclusives like with Mossman (and if they can do that, then WWE superstars too dang it).
