Takara Tomy Transformers Legends Toyline Thread

Fair warning. I have Topspin, Twin Twist, and the Big Powered set, and the combined Ultra Powered form is not a particularly stable configuration. You can tell that Sakamoto came up with it on his own by playing with the toys, rather than it being an intended combination built in by Takara. The mode is basically for display only and takes up a sizable amount of shelf space. It still looks cool, though.

Good to know thank you. That's kind of what I figured, sort of like having 2 Overlords (which I never bothered with), having one stand on the others legs without a solid combination wasn't really something that interested me, but the fact that The *Jump Starters* and Big Powered are all unique toys does.

The Jumpstarters have their own Attack Powered combined form, but it's still Topspin on top of Twin Twist with two Targetmasters attached to the sides. They're only attached by the leg panels, so...
I only have Topspin, but I still tried his half of the combination... the legs are a pain.

I figured out that that combination works better both functionally and more securely if each figure's waist is turned away from each other.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:The Jumpstarters have their own Attack Powered combined form, but it's still Topspin on top of Twin Twist with two Targetmasters attached to the sides. So the fronts face down and up? Gotcha.

Finally managed to open my Legends Greatshot. I never owned TR 6shot so I can't compare to him. On his own Greatshot is very nice and feel solid in hand. Most modes are solid appart the lame GUN mode. The robot is pretty damn glorious with all those colors. Also, the fact that he was a headmaster in the he G1 fiction make the Legend version PERFECT.

Since I've known about the Brave series, I've been a slowly growing fan. Always liked the designs, and knowing they were a spiritual successor to Transformers "from a certain point of view" made them even more appealing, plus the fact that I enjoy Super Robot Anime as well. I am well aware that some of the toys from the various series were retools or repaints of Transformers, but I dont have a comprehensive list in my mind, so when one comes up, it is always exciting.
I've only seen /own in Full GaoGaiGar. Most of the others have been fansubbed, and I've been meaning to watch them (have seen a few random episodes of each) it's just one of those things that just keeps getting put off. However Might Gaine has been featured in the most recent series of Super Robot Wars games for the PS4, so that got my son interested and we've been watching Might Gaine together....
The Protagonist has many enemies, and a frenemy (Joe The Ace). His 2nd Mecha is named Goryu, and when I first saw it, the light bulb went on...hey That's Dai Atlas!!

Unfortunately obtaining original Brave series toys is just as costly, perhaps even moreso, than Original Transformers.
To make all my ramblings relevant to this thread, I wonder if anyone has customized a Legends Dai Atlas to resemble Goryu from Might Gaine? It would be pretty cool IMHO.

I just got done watching the second series, Taiyou no Yuusha Fighbird, and eh... a tad run-of-the-mill, but did plant seeds for future series in terms of character development, continuity between episodes, and darker tones compared to Yuusha Exkizer. Might Gaine isn't fully subbed to my knowledge, so I'm skipping that for now, trying to choose between Da Garn, Goldran and Dagwon.
If you want a recommendation for a series with feels, go for Yuusha Keisatsu J-Decker. As a bonus it features a TF retool. See if you can spot him

I've seen the first dozen or so episodes of Exkaiser. The Geisters remind me a lot of the Dinoforce from Victory, so it's pretty hilarious (plus they are heavy Dinobot retools).
I wasn't aware Joe's first mech was Sonic Bomber, how'd I miss that
. Also, I can confirm MightGaine is fully subbed (just not on Youtube). We just picked it because it is featured in SRW V,X, & T. After we finish it, I'll probably go back and finish ExKaiser than try to move forward in Chronological order. They do seem to get better as time goes on, which is cool. Probably kind of spoiled seeing GGG first, that is a lofty bar to reach.

Fighbird and GaoGaiGar are the only two series that don't have TF designs in them, the rest have at least one, mostly from Japan-only series and Japan-exclusive molds so you'd better brush up on them

While no Transformers designs were featured in GaoGaiGar, wasn't some of the animation (I'm thinking the Liner Gao) recycled in Car Robots for the JRX Team?

No, because Car Robots was animated by a different studio. I do see where you're coming from, because Liner Gao and J-5 aka Railspike are the same model train, a 500 Series Shinkansen which debuted shortly after GaoGaiGar's first episode.
To pull it back to the OP, customising the TF into Yuusha mechs is quite easy if you can find the right headmaster

And now I can't help but think of a comic on TFW that featured a knockoff of Build Tiger from Brave Police J-Decker.
Seeing this page reminds me: Kanrabat is wrong. Greatshot wasn't a Headmaster in-universe until the Legends manga made him one.
Oh, and an FYI for anyone who didn't know: Godbomber is weaponizer compatible.

Well at least he admits how stupid he is from the outset for purchasing a toy of a character he knows nothing about. I stopped after that as he loses all credibility bashing a media he knows nothing about.
Anyway. I own Legends Dai Atlas, and it is a solid retool. I especially like how it can also interact with Topspin and Twintwist. The only downside is that the 2 halves are connected, making them unable to separate. There is a swivel mechanism you have to navigate to transform it, which is a pain, but the positives outweigh the negatives.
I'll rest peacefully knowing I'll never waste $10 let alone $150 on a toy I know I'm going to hate just to produce a video.

All solid good figures with good posability, only problem I have is the big guy has to sit on the shelve as he can stand up/doesn't fit due to him being true leader size :p him not being able to seperate ruined the possibility of combinations that don't exist anyways and essentially removes a possible alt mode - But hey at least it isn't a mode he should have. Sky shadows still my favorite use of the mold and he was the cheapest/easiest one for me to get.

Great Review

Anyway, I appreciate that you can still have an opinion, and be respectful. Acknowledge that this item certainly isn't for everyone, and it has flaws (what TF doesn't?), but it certainly is no piece of trash. I believe I have seen you summarize reviews about other items you bought, that the item was really not good and didn't recommend it at all. Even in doing so, you managed to do it in a professional way, and that I appreciate.

Seeing how rough the first guy is being with the figures regardless of QC issues, that's just stupid.
What a waste of time.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

I liked that set for Sonic Bomber and Roadfire. Dai Atlas' waist is problematic, and I wish there was something to fill in the calves, but he's not that bad. I don't regret getting him

I had Greatshot. It was awesome looking, but he felt "ordinary" in hand and didn't really had a place in my collection. So I gave it up at my local geek store for store credit. Thanks to the fact that it's value had at least doubled over time (and I kept the box and manual) I had a bit more than what I paid for. So that was a win.
Come see my latest creation, the COMPLETE combiner team, Scorponok and his Pretenders, forming SHELLSHOCK

I still love that toy. If I had to reduce my collection to 1 of that mold, I would keep him over Sixshot and Greatshot. Love that guy
