Update, Just saw the guys video using the fast forward button. Was just interested in the height comparisons part of the video.

Thought the guy did a great job with the comparisons. As their were plenty of toys in different sizes and bulks.

Think the guy doing the video mentioned the alt mode was a, Sniper gun. Would agree with him as it does look like that.

Still, I went ahead and pre-ordered. Depending on how this comes out, I may get the other DJD figs as I doubt Hasbro will ever touch them. I also, apparently, need to get some trade paperbacks of this story...

Without completely derailing the thread, how do you figure? Do you know what sorts of factory costing structures MMC is dealing with? Can you say for sure that there would have been a cheaper option, still with the high standards of quality MMC has established?

I'm not trying to pick a fight. I just have been with a company that had to deal with a very similar situation. Yes, our customers were not happy with price increases (as we were not with out vendors' price increases). But, it is a very large moving target to try to get effective costing as well as value. Indeed, if this pricing drives customers away, MMC will likely need to adjust, or go out of business...

Had no plans to get any of these MMC DJD toys regardless of the prices.

Just hoping MMC rushes the releases of all of these DJD toys and their repurposed toys. So I can get my MMC Carnifex toy sooner rather than later.

No I don't know, but what I do know, is they made a bad decision when changing factories. they even MSRP is decided based on production costs, and the new factory they used to produce this figure charged a rate 50% higher than the factory used for the Azalea figures.

Honestly, if they go out of business, I won't shed a tear. I like MMC, but their restructuring has seriously screwed their prices over, because quality or not, this

is not worth about as much as this

and the future MMC products will cost at least 25% more (Cynicus is closer to 30%) than they should, including the figures that actually are made at the $100+ price point. At this rate, I actively hope Cynicus bombs.

I'm not sure we can say moving factories was a bad decision based on less than all the facts. I'd definitely want to know more of the story behind these decisions before accusing them of making a [insert favorite excrement term here] move. I guess the same could be said for my comment, in that we don't know that it isn't for sure all MMC's fault. I guess I would give them the benefit of the doubt based on what I have seen out of them thus far.

Now, I would very much support anybody's displeasure at this high price. I'm very borderline on supporting the figure, too. And avoiding the figure is probably the best way to express the displeasure at the cost.

[Edit] One more thing on comparing those two figures above, how much time has elapsed between releases? Is that even a fair comparison, as far as production costs go? How we each value the figure, however, wouldn't really matter as far as time, I guess....

Even if I had any attachment to this Vos character, which I don't, that's not worth the price.

Right, but Screecher was manufactured some time ago, right? I don't think it's a completely fair comparison as far as production costs go. That was really my main point. If the factory costs go up, I'm not sure that I would agree that it's MMC's "fault." (there'd also be some arguments for complexity, with Cynicus looking far more complex than Screecher, and comes with an additional face. But, that wasn't really part of the argument I was trying to make.)

I agree with both of you. I don't think we have a level of information where blame can be assigned, on the one hand. But on the other hand, I'm not willing to shell out $80 for this figure - I'll wait for a sale, if one comes.

MMC needs to seriously stop delaying the toys more want, that will sell out better like Carnifex. Releasing the worse sellers like the Fem Bots and the DJD toys ahead of Carnifex was a huge mistake.

Similar to the huge mistake MMC made years ago. By delaying the release of Hexatron to release those Seekers that sold poorly.

Don't think many will buy the DJD toys or their repurposed toys. Think these will bomb in sales big time. Hopefully MMC can handle this and not go bankrupt as a result.

Think if MMC is smart, They'll do what Toy World did with their Trottlebots. Where if the first Two DJD toys bomb and sell badly, MMC Delays the rest of the DJD toys for a full 12 months. While MMC releases other toys in their absence like Carnifex Overlord.

It seems both fembots and the DJD are pretty popular right now.

Fembot sales may have been hit by the release of the Hastak versions ... or maybe not, I know I have both. But no one else is tackling the DJD.
