At some point last year, I was possessed by the idea of repainting Bearbrick Optimus Prime into the Danganronpa franchise's perennial mascot, Monokuma.

Bearbrick Prime was a rarer figure than I had expected, but I soon found one for a reasonable price. He's about the size of a typical WFC Trilogy deluxe, but chunkier and clunkier in build. Impressively for a 2014 figure, he has ankle tilts and a waist swivel!

Alt-mode imitates the original character design and, since this was a joke from the start, the robot mode imitates his horrifying "buff" form. Obviously, the alt-mode's head shape is completely wrong, and my freehand painting leaves a lot to be desired. Still, this was one of my most entertaining and instructive repaints.


I also gave his arm some "motion blur" to better sell this pose.


When the Quintesson Judge is busy being a tower... cage... thing this guy can keep the seat warm.
