No idea who it really is, but my guess is on Deadend or evil Prowl (with no ties to the originals).

Nope it is just Brawl.

They needed a Decepticon police car, so they looked at Autobot Prowl and married it with a G1 Decepticon name that sounded similar: Brawl.

Nice ideas there Ra88, but I think you're still not quite close to the angle the movie is going for.
Watch the previs footage from the 2005 comicon and you'll get a glimpse of Camaro Bumblebee and, at the time, helicopter Soundwave (now Vortex.. or Incinerator).

So it is Brawl? Thought so, name sounds appropriate, and I don't care that it's the same as one of Bruticus' limbs.

(Plus, I want him to duke it out with Prowl in the next movie, IF he survives).

I'm currently redrawing Vortex to look even more like the descriptions, but I only vaguely remember the previs. Got a link to a download of that?

It's sadly rather low quality, but I couldn't find a better one on a short notice.
I may have saved a hi-res version at my parents' place.
I'll have to look into that when I'm visiting them.

As for the previs parts, around 1:48 you'll see the first bit:
The yellow Camaro (with Sam "Spike" Witwicky) pursued by a blue helicopter.
Further along you'll see several bits with the Camaro transforming (movie shots with Spike and concept transformation shots), Optimus concept art (grey), Spike on his bike being almost rundown, Bumblebee vs. (helo) Soundwave - kicking BBee into a barn, etc.

You mean the comicon footage?

About a year already, but nobody really took the pre-vis part serious, because they're still a long way before finalizing the designs, script and alt modes back then.
However, it shines a light on the direction they're going for, and the concept designs are about 60% or more true to the eventual forms, I dare to say.

As for that Unicron, isn't that the cancelled BW Neo Unicron from Japan?

I think a year ago I watched the first part of that video and wrote it off as nothing new, just tv clips and tv commercials. Never knew there was actual footage hidden in there.

Thanks for that. Never thought that much of it except something to get the hype going, but now that you mention it, there is some VERY interesting stuff in there.

Finished three more designs.

Based on the description that had taloned feet, multiple cannons (not deployed) and 'a **** scary appearance'.

Based on the 'bulky while not being blocky' design comment from AICN, and I also wanted to see what he would look like with a mouth. Changed his weapons a bit though, his smokestacks now transform into rifles that are more MP-5 then shotgun based. I also replaced the traditional Matrix with 'medals', to imply his rank and importance. The grille-design has also been changed, in case Prime turns out to have a Scania-esque grill (and to make him look more complex).

Redid the Vortex design to see how the 'monstrous Decepticons' look could be. First I wanted to give it real dinosaur like legs complete with large claws, but I settled for a more traditional look. I also redid the head so that it has an opening 'mouth' from which the attack-screeches/soundwaves are emitted, and a visor that has 5 for an optimal field of vision.

Got two more designs for you guys, both of Prime and based on the Flame truck.

I did this mainly to see how the reversed grill could work (an idea that popped into my own head), but then I got bored and decided to Bayize it. Needless to say, this is how I DON'T want Prime to look.

I am VERY happy with this one, because I think it captures the same essence as the Bumblebee prop had: Alien, new, complicated and yet recognizeable. I'm going to color this, mainly to see what it would look like with the scattered Flamer pieces.

As weird as that Prime is, I love it! I'd be pretty happy if the movie Prime looked pretty similar.

I'd really prefer me in a dress, but if Prime gets one, it had better be pretty!

I think this Prime is pretty enough though. I dunno why I like it so much; I guess it give me hope for the movie.

Did another one, this time it's Brawl/Barricade/Whatever. I put some thought into the upper body, but I couldn't figure what to do with the rest of the car on the lower body, so I just tossed everything around to make legs. Yes, I know it's cheating, but right now I don't care.

As for the head: I went with a mix of Prowl, Runamuck/Runabout and Soundwave. The white section is his face without the mouth, and the red 'orbs' are his optics.
