But this is a new design with an old name that certainly would be even worse with the old color patterns as well!
I beg to differ, because i know for a fact he looks great in red, even with the old gold line down the side.
Doesnt look no worse than this stupid two-tone blue.
I'm not saying the blue is good either, but red will make hime look like a can or crushed tomatoes.
However, since you know for a fact he'll look good in red, show me, and if you're correct, I'll gladly tip my hat in your favor.
Till then, I personaly can't tell you what colors I'd like to see him in, if anything I think a black and silver combination would compliment this design well with some chrome accents.
He's a great bot, but to many details get lost in black, the blue just isn't right as it's to bright, and red is gonna be gaudy.
I seperated these movie figures from there G1 counterparts, most I even renamed. It made them more easy for me to adapt to. So on that note, since we have an all new design, why not try an all new color pattern?
If the guys name was, I don't know, TopCannon, or Johnny BlueJeans, instead of IronHide, I think alot of people would agree with me here.
However, it doesn't change the fact that it is IronHide, so I can see why people are so adimant about this. You know, if it LOOKED like G1 IronHide I'd feel the same, but since it doesn't, I say go for broke, try something new!
But again, I am with you on one thing, I don't like this blue.
I will show you, but it isnt ready yet. I am waiting for the paint to fully dry. I have a preview up in the kitbash forum though, look for the thread "he is coming."
From what I saw, very nice. However I did notice alot more silver than red.
I give you alot of credit for what I saw in that glimpse, however knowing from experience, Hasbro will put no where mear as much effort into a repaint as you will.
IF they where to do a red repaint, I'll bet you dollars to dougnuts you'll get a giant red mass with a few accents to break it up. If you doubt me, I offer you 20+ years of subpar repaints as prof.

Could just be a redeco like the Concept Bumblebee redeco into Cliffjumper. Though can't think of who would transform into a blue pickup.
The only one I can think of is G2 Motormouth, but that's pretty obscure:
http://tfu.info/1995/Autobot/Motormouth/motormouth.htm
Ironhide was also blue for a Universe release, again, pretty obscure though:
http://tfu.info/2003/Autobot/Ironhide/ironhide.htm
I agree with the consensus, red would've looked 1000 times better.

Hmmmm... given the color scheme and the fact a chunk of paint has been scrapped off the door like from an accident, I'm still guessing this'll turn out to be Skids.

When a repaint does not look better, or at the least, different from the original, there is no point in making it.
The Doors in alt mode look to be a different shade to the rest of him, and I think Hasbro has a paint app designer who loves that horrible sky blue colour, its found its way on Desert Attack Brawl and now Ironhide... who next?

Oh hell i know what you mean there man i feel ya. Hasbro would never give us something of the quallity i am doing with this toy. But trust me you are gonna freaking like this re-paint of mine. All i gotta do is wait a few more days to make sure the paint it fully dry, as the gloss i put over the paint to make it shiney and to healp seal the paint tends to remain sticky for a while and collects fingerprints, so to avoid those nasty fingerprints screwing up all my paint i'll let him sit for a while until hes done, then i can take some pics of him in some poses and hopefully some alt mode shots as well, but they again have to wait till the paints perfectly dry too./
Damn exuse my typoing right now....im on some sleeping pills and they are making me feel very drunk so i can barely typew. lol

Fan customs are usualy better because fans care more, and aren't looking for something they can easily mass market. However on that same note, for the price we pay, Hasbroc should deffinetly invest in some more paints, and QC!

The only good thing i see about that repaint is the cannons.
if you mix and match the grey guns with the regular missles and put that on the Black ironhide it would looks pretty good.

This will get a big pass from me. Now, had it been red, that would be a different story.

lol 10 years from now everyone will know Ironhide as an white 2017 Pontiac Plug-In Hybrid Roadster with racing stripes. And me and four other guys in some BBS will still talk about how cool would it be to see Ironhide in red.
BTW i still DON'T agree with the freakishly disproportioned "tanks" sticking out the bottom mid section. It even looks tacky in robot mode as weapons.

Diaclone Trailbreaker. This should have been red to be truly Ironhide as others have noted. Oh well...

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

Turn the head around. Instant movie Soundwave or G2 Grimlock.

I wasn't thinking that until you said it, but now, that's all I see - Kup. I'll probably buy and modify the head/face a bit so that he's more G1 accurate. Kup needs a new version very, very badly and this will do the trick (at least until a classics version, Primus willing).
Thanks!

blue ironhide
everyone doesn't know why Ironhide has a blue paint job! DX
I'm not even a hardcore fan and i know why.
He hes a blue repaint because some scenes in the movie have Ironhide in a blue paintjob because the movie's editor sucks.
if you don't believe me watch the movie again and the scene where I clearly remember it is where all the Autobots are talking about why they should help the humans and Ironhide constantly changes from black to a diffrent shade of blue from the toy but blue nonetheless.
and some CG scenes in the game had Ironhide blue. Maybe black looks blue in sunlight but I'm pretty sure its just a big editing mistake.
also that football guy from the beggining drives a blue hummer. (I understand that Ironhide is a Top Kick. just an afterthought)
