MP-10 brings about a potential shift in my Masterpiece collection. I've always grouped Masterpiece and Alternators/Binaltech together and although MP-01 Prime is taller than he should be it still made a decent fit. Plus I love the figure!

Now this MP-10 is out and I want it. I'm just trying to figure out if I want it bad enough to sell of my MP-01 plus MP-01S figures to pay for it. I don't have the room or money for both.

Takara seems to be moving on with this new size scale. Hints of an MP Magnus and a redone Megatron have already been dropped. It looks like future Masterpiece releases will be sticking close to this new size.

I suppose I'll wait for review of MP-10, but is anyone else in my situation of trying to choose between MP-01 or MP-10?

ill be keeping mp1 with my alternators/HA figs and mp10 will go with my alternities as theyre a perfect fit.

Until a newly scaled Megatron actually comes out, MP-01 (or 04 in my case) will remain my MP Prime. And I might actually just wait to see what the Hasbro release for MP-10 has to offer before biting on the Takara. The last couple Takara MP releases have been easily obtainable for the same release price or less after the Hasbro version comes out so I don't think it's a very risky plan...plus if there are any QC issues, those will be addressed too. (Still butthurt about that...) It would likely be sans trailer, but oh well. That centered Autobot symbol on the trailer bothers me anyhow. Speaking of which, I can't seem to find any stills of the animation and I don't want to spend hours going through the episodes, did the trailer tend to have that centered insignia placement in the 'toon more often than not? I don't get why they did that...

I am torn as well. I suppose if they do come out with a Magnus w/ armor and I am assuming a Megs to follow I will have to bite. Not really thrilled about it but my compulsion to have some kind of reasonable scale in my MP collection will win out if they do bring out the afore mentioned Megs and Magnus.

My instinct is to wait and see but what price will Ops be once I know for sure?

As for the figure itself I don't think its any better than MP1, its pluses are negated by the pluses of the original (better alt mode vs. various joint pistons and not silly looking feet, die cast etc.) Really the only figure that is out of scale for me now is Grimlock since I use Rodimus as Hot Rod for display. Otherwise, compared to the original toys, the scale is nearly spot on including the Binaltechs.

If it was ONLY going to be OPs I could easily pass. But.....

Any opinions on the risks on the wait and see approach?

If your plan is to wait till a Magnus and Megatron are actually released or even officially announced you might be risking missing out. But then again I could see this getting a second run a couple years down the road as well. If you're just waiting to see what the Hasbro version will be, like I said above, I don't think there's great risk there.

Your likely right, I had to settle for Hasbro version MP1 cause I waited to long. I would have liked the box. And then the figures were pretty much identical sans the pipes( which I upgraded) but now there is a significant drop off with the Grimlock and the Rodimus figures as far as detail. I most likely will bite the bullet and then just be pissed when they don't do the others lol :BANG_HEAD:

I dunno...I think the difference between Grimlock was minimal. Had I known, I'd have definitely waited and saved ~$90. Takara Rod looks much better, but I still wish I had waited to get the second release.

Yeah, nice of them to fix those issues after the fact, eh?

Grimlock wasn't bad, they skimped a bit on some chrome here and there but were nice enough to throw in a crown. Rodimus looks bad in the dark grey, red legs and down graded headlights but thats probably a matter of opinion.

I'm tired of paying big bucks because I have to have the hot-new Prime right now, rather than learning the lesson of recent years and waiting for a domestic release in which the changes will be tiny and barely worth the whining.

MP-1 will always be my on-display Optimus but I think 10 may be my diarama/play Optimus from the point I get one in hand onwards. Have to hope that Hasbro does it's homework and procures a whole bunch more of these than they did for Roddy........and that TRU continues to bite as a release point.

Gotta keep Prime to go with Megatron. Maybe they'll be shifted to a new shelf of their own, I won't know till I open MP-10. Also, I don't like the idea of selling off TFs!

To the one who started the topic:

Only sell the TF you REALLY HATE. Because you'll dearly regret it later. If you have MP-1, DONT SELL IT. It's a precious PRESSIOUSSSS collector item. He's also in scale with Alternators and Human Aliance figures.

Get MP-10 when it will be chaper. The market will even tually flood, and Hasbro WILL release it in North America sans the trailer, making him affordable.

I know that's what I'M going to do.

I just hope that a Hasbro release will not be some EXCLUSIVE BULLSHIT. Because all the "exclusive" figures stay in the USA and I still have to pay rape prices on Ebay anyway...
