after looking over his magnificent glossy black body, i started to wonder if the glossy black is painted over black plastic or is the black plastic naturally glossy? :shock:

I can't be sure about the MP-10B, but I tried using some thinner to remove a streak of black paint some klutz at the factory must have accidentally gotten onto MP-10's chest, and I was surprised to see that some of the red came off. The plastic was still read, but the matte finish became shiny.

So yeah, MP-10B might be painted as well.

ive looked at him and looked at him and i am just not 100% sure either way... anyone else own him and feel the same?

I think it's black paint on black plastic. Can't guarantee it, but Takara has been painting MP Sideswipe, Starscream, and Soundwave like that.

I just got min today. After looking it over, I can tell you it's the release agent they used to cast him with. More than likely a high gloss silicone. I think the reason they did it that way was to help show off the detail on such a dark colored figure.

Definitely not paint.

actually it is paint... some panels are matte (unpainted) on one side and glossy (painted) on the other. if it was release agent it would be on both sides... and if you rub a spot for about 30 sec with a qtip you get paint transfer. so yes he is painted, but id have rather had him matte all the way... oh well
