How about this

THe one with the extended barrel. Add a scope on top. You've got the bulk to hide his robot bits there. You can add the sight/photon cannon easily enough. And the extended barrel there works for the gun barrel that folded up on the originals back in the Cartoon. And you can probably set up the trigger and guard to be collapsable so when he transforms you don't end up with a big crotch sticking out as the original toy had.

The G1 Megatron is a scaled down Walther gun to fit on kids hands, the real one is larger (and obviously heavier :p)

well i,m still trying to find the right form to fit the current look and design of the actual construction and as promise i,m showing some of the progress of the robot mode.... note it,s only in it,s initial stage so there will be allot of changes coming, but as you can see already it,s comming along great !!!

Very sweet. From the looks of it, and I could be wrong since I'm basing this on what I can see in the pics. But you could fold the legs the other way in gun mode to give you the extra space on the back end where the slide mechanism on most guns would cockback to chamber the next round.

You then put the head in that area ala G1 Megatron, have it on a slideing shaft kinda like the original. Of course without knowing exactly how he's transforming now, I can only guess from the pics, its hard to make any real good design thoughts.

Any chance of the some step by step pics of his current transformation?

And jsut thought, but does the waist rotate around? If so they you can have the waist portion spin around to put the trigger on his back end when he's in bot mode.

well the waist does turn and bends as well ..the trigger and the O that surround the trigger will be in the legs.... i cant really explain at this point because i,m still refining it as i go.....

as for step by step building procedure, there are so many changes (i,m not kidding) that i would be passing more time drawing then building and the fact is i rarely draw anything i just find solutions as i build... crazy way to build but i works for me..... but i might try to come up with something...

one thing that has been a major headache is the chestpiece, since at this point all of the pieces stay togheter... no dissesembling megatron to make a gun and vice versa type of construction, that was a priority since the only other one that i saw on the web involved precisely that ... and i really wanted to avoid that since i think it takes away the magic....

as well there will be a couple of suprises on this one since i,ve been able to see some space that could be use to build circuitry and as well maybe put electronics on him... but that,s for later

Wow Mark, fantastic job so far! You know, based ont he current gun's proportions (which I think are pretty dang sweet) you might want to think about making him into Robocops gun.

It's a modified Beretta and seems to be right in line with what you've already got. Compare to yours:

Yes! A Beretta M93R-AG Modified! Everyone loves Robocop! That would look so cool especially with added size. Even though "the Robocop version" doesn't come with the stock mount, there were some folding stocks available for I believe the first model of M93R. See picture!

Of course you could get scopes and silencers. There's already one kind of silencer added to the Robocop version obviously.

First and formost. your work rocks! I visit your website ususlly once a week and I'm always impressed.

I've noticed that the guns you've been using as guides don't have the thin barrel that ends up on Megatron's back in robot mode. Were you planning on omiting it?

thanks for the compliment !!! i always try to build items that we can all appreciate... and i,m always happy that people come and see what i,ve been up to !!!

as for the barrel at the back, it will be there eventually as soon that i find a function for it.... since the gun form has change from the original g1 gun, i have to find ways to include all physical aspect of a anime megatron including the barrel.... eventually it will all come together and we,ll have a grat megatron !!!

Thats why I thought the Desert Eagle I posted with the extended barrel would have worked. But after seeing the modified Beretta JAF posted looks closer to the design you worked out already. Perhaps build a silencer that becomes the peice on his back.

That would probably work, but then he'd have two silencers if he's based on the modified Baretta that Jaf posted.

True as well. Just trying to think up a way to have a close to real alt mode, and yet a Anime style bot mode. I have to give him some incredible props jsut for being able to design what he has, let alone manage to build it.

you,ve got something there tentagil.... what i might do is use the barrel on megatron,s back to use as a support for the silencer....but i,ll try to design a silencer that will blend perfectly with the rest of the gun .... and i always welcome input on this.... i still have a couple of bugs left to fix but i,m certain the result will be great !!!

also i dont know if i,ve metionned this but i will be building my own version of laserbeak that might become an add-on on the gun mode.... i have allot of ideas ...now i need to bring it all together ....

i would take some of the features of U-NHB such as the silencer and the other gadgets on it (note that meg,s rear barrel could become the search light) and integrate it on the gun.....but the best shape at this point would be the robocup gun wich is a modified beretta .....

i would like to thank everyone who are helping me finding the right combination and feel free to continue
