Okay, I the title is misleading. I haven't finished it yet, but I have all the figures for my new project. It's a ROTF set of Combiners. Defensor vs. Bruticus. What I'm going to is take the combiner ports from Power Core Combiners and place them on repainted versions of the following figures: (Now, some of them are kind of unexpected, so bear with me)

Hot Spot = Seaspray
Blades = Blazemaster
First Aid = Gears (he'll be medical transport instead of an ambulance.)
Streetwise = Interrogator Barricade
Groove = Elita-1

Onslaught = Bonzai-Tron
Blast Off = Soundwave
Vortex = Tomahawk
Brawl = Deep Desert Brawl
Swindle = Brawn

I'm also adding, like, Headmasters/chest armor Scout Class figures. I'm using Sonar and Firetrap respectively. I'm going to modify each so that they can sport the G1 versions of the combined mode heads. I still need to think of names for them...

Anyways, I just wanted to see what kind of feedback I'd get for such an idea. I've set out all the Combaticons in their combined transformation modes, and it looks marvelous. Just saying.

Sounds pretty ambitious. Your base chassis should like right, except for Blastoff. Why soundwave? Good luck and I can't wait to see pics.

Soudwave because I'm trying to re-invent the characters a bit whilst maintaining an homage to the G1 figure. Soundwave was the only space Deluxe figure in ROTF.

I should also note that these guys have a strong lack of real hands. Just putting that out there.

Sounds like you are on a similar path. I wasn't trying to make movie combiners for Defensor, but he seems to be heading that way. My goal was just to have deluxe combiners.

I have movie Gears for First Aid, not much for ambulance options, saw several SUVs as paramedic vehicles when searching google pics for a planned Alternator. Blazemaster for Blades, only because I have yet to see the repaint on store shelves. Classics Prowl for Streetwise, because the origianal was like the fairlady z, going to mod the guns to be out in vehicle mode. Cybertron motorcycle (his name escapes me at the moment) for Groove, looks like a CHiPs motorcycle minus the coloring. I know its kind of small, but it is similar to Blazemasster in size, and I'm considering using both for the armes. And RID Prime for Hotspot, use the Omega Prime parts in the combined form. I have the pieces boxed ready to start the project. Awaiting time and a place to work on it at. Also hesitant about starting due to my fascination with Sentinal Prime coming soon.

For Bruticus, I also recently bought Thomahawk for Vortex, was struggling with this one for awhile before that one came out. Deluxe movie Brawl for Brawl of course. ROTF Thrust for Blast Off, I know its not a shuttle or spacecraft, I just thought a military jet fit better in the theme. I also want Brawn for Swindle, just been impossible to find this fig in stores.. And for Onslaught, I plan to use Cybertron Prime, Made into something similar to an H.E.M.T.T. with a missile battery, and telescoping gun barrels to give it that G1 sort of flare.

Can't wait to see how yours turns out. Some fascinating choices.
