Ofcourse, ya'll are gonna get swept, 'cause thats just how we roll in the WS, but I'll definately be rooting for the lovable cubbies to get there.

Red Sux won't win the World Series unless the Rays or Angels play horribly. Those two teams have been very strong throughout the season.
As for the NL side of things, the Cubs and Mets have been having some odd results as of late and I reckon the Dodgers could spring a surprise here, should they clinch their division.
As for me, I'll be paying very little attention to the playoffs this year, as my Yankees have had a shocking season...

Ole Sweet Lou's got plenty of time to get the rotation and pen well rested, Fukudome is finally finding his stride again and (gulp) everyone is still healthy...I believe!

Thankfully yes. They showed it live over here in the UK and I enjoyed every single minute of it. It was a bloody good job we won though, otherwise the whole night would have fallen flat!
I've watched many WS and All-Star games, but the sheer electricity of the atmosphere on Yankee Stadium's last night was unreal. Somehow I doubt there will be the same kind of reaction over at Shea!
All that aside, despite the trainwreck that was this season for us, It would be great if Moose finally gets his 20 win season...

Since we don't have Direct TV anymore and being here in Tampa where these fly by night so called Rays fan live I have to hear there horrid announcers instead of the Yankees announcers
One of them likes to refer to fans at the stadium as the cave dwellers
Thank god for ESPN they came on at 1pm and stayed at the stadium till well after midinight and I got to see everything
I was laughing uncontrolably when Don Larson scooped up some dirt in a cup off the mound
When Guidry came to the mound Whitey Ford asked Guidry if he would like some dirt
Anyways since the Yankees are out I'm pulling for the Cubbies and two former Yankees Lou Pinella and Alfonso Soriano
If it wasn't for the Cubs I would of pulled for the Dodgers with Joe Torre and Don Mattingly
Its a shame that none could attend the last game but in November there holding another closing ceromony that includes boxing and football that were at the stadium and Billy Joel may sing
I hope I get to see that somehow

I doubt it. This Angels team has choked horribly in the playofs over the last few years. I reckon history repats itself.
The Rays...who knows. Inexperience might be their downfall. Then again, youth may be on their side. Less pressure for them, as winning the East for that team is already exceeding expectations. They're in a no lose position which might help them.
I still give the Sox the edge. Solid team with a lot of experience.
It is odd. Being fromm Boston I thought I would rejoice when the Yanks missed the playoffs. Yet, I feel a small sense of loss. Like the playoffs just won't be the same without a Yanks Sox ALCS. I look foward to their reutrn to contention and kicking their asses in the ALCS next year!

Don't cry if its the Yankees kicking there asses
Right
its allways the Yankees fault when the Red Sux lose to them
Every time the Red Sux lose to the Yanks you people never see that your team wasn't good enough to beat them
So you all hate Bucky Dent and never get ticked off that Mike Torrez threw the Home Run ball to him...Same thing with Aaron Boone

Re: Cubs 2008.....We Believe
Right now I'm just thrilled to see my Rays get into October. As to how far they will go we will see. The have won the season series against all the other playoff teams so that's a start. And yes I realize that the post season is a completely different animal but, like I said, it's a start. Their home record is one of the best in the majors and get's better when they sell out - which they have already done for the first two games.

GP you are one of the very few Devil Rays fans that I have known down here
The rest jumped on the bandwagon I have no respect for them
They didn't support this team though its losing years

How about Phillies 5 Brewers 2-FINAL. Not looking too good for the Cubs either. Currently 5-0 in favor of LA, bottom of the second.

Just wanted to share some positive thoughts with my fellow Cubs fans after last night's disappointing game.
The Cubs are THE National League Central champs this year.
The Cubs have only had 21 seasons where they had a better winning average (greater than 0.602). Look how long it's been since they've done this well: 1880, 1876, 1885, 1906, 1886, 1907, 1909, 1871, 1910, 1881, 1882, 1918, 1935, 1929, 1908, 1945, 1890, 1904, 1891, 1912, 1937
It's the first time since 1907 and 1908 where they won the NLC back to back. Thanks Lou!
Holy crap did they win a lot of games this year! There's only been 8 other years where they won more games than they did in 2008. They won one less game in 1984 (96) and one more game way back in 1945 when they lost to the Tigers in the world series.
1906 (116/36 = 0.763)
1907 (107/45 = 0.704)
1909 (104/49 = 0.68)
1910 (104/50 = 0.675)
1935 (100/54 = 0.649
1908 (99/55 = 0.643)
1929 (98/54 = 0.645)
1945 (98/56 = 0.636)
2008 (97/64 = 0.602)
Yeah, I know we want them to win a World Series and that's probably what Cubs fans need more than anything to get them (the fans) out of their silly slump. I was disgusted last night listening to fans on WGN radio after the game bitching, moaning, whining and in general acting like a bunch of sore losers.
Yeah, that sucked last night and they didn't put up much of a fight. But we've got one more game to go so you've got to stay pumped up and motivated! That's what they need!!!

What really cracks me up is seeing Pinella go on about how this next game isn't "Do or Die". WHAT??? If you lose, you go home!!! It is SOOOOOO "Do or Die!" Talk about denial.
