Ever since BotCons customizing class, I've been itching to do my own repaint. I have an extra Vector Prime because I initially bought him separately and then bought the 2-pack of him and Starscream so I could get Starscream.

But what can I repaint him as? I've already got Alpha Trion so that's out. Any ideas?

I've also had the idea for while that Transmetal Primal and Megatron would make a great Classics Apeface and Snapdragon. But after examining the color scheme of the original and the molds for the repaints, I'm stumped as to how to transfer them over. Or if it would even work. Also, how would I repaint a transmetal? Would I have to scrap off all that vacuum metalized paint?

If anyone could do a digi-repaint of any or all of these 3 repaints, much appreciated.

Don't have any ideas for you, but just how comfortable in your abilities are you?

I ask because I wouldn't want you to screw up some good figures. I've always found if you're getting into kitbashing/repainting it's always good to grab some junkers off E-Bay and mess around with them first.

That way if you screw up it's no big loss and you can put those abominations in a dark basket where they shall never see the light of day again.

Well, I have done some amateur repainting before. I started a set of MIC Constructicons(just goes to show how long ago that was). I never did finish them. I think I just have one more of them to do. I'll have to dig them up and finish them off.

I think that's where FunPub got their idea for the Shattered Glass Constructicons from. When I finish them, I might take off the MIC symbols and put on red Con symbols and enter them in the next BotCon contest.

I don't have a name for him. Some have suggested Prowl.

But yeah, that's my history of repaints. And I did those 2-3 years or more prior to this BotCon. So I think I can do it.

since the transformation schemes are so drastically different between tm op and megs against apeface and snapdragon so i would match the beast mode scheme and homage the bot mode

Here ya go. This would make a great bash. and I'll probably do it someday when I get that primal. I'll try and get the other one bashed soon.

Oh and as for painting the metallic stuff I would use a scotchbrite pad to scuff it up and then paint over it.

Ok I think this is a better idea for snapdragon. If not oh well your opinion but I may do this. Oh and as for the dragon mode it's a bit sloppy, 6 bashes in a row and i'm tired.

Wow, Optimal Optimus and RiD Megatron look pretty damb good as Apeface and Snapdragon. I had considered doing Optimal and TM2 Megs instead of their TM versions, but I was worried about them being out of scale with the other Classics. Though, I really have no idea how big they were in G1 compared to say Prime and Galvatron anyway. I'll have to look into them more and weight the different factors until I do decide on the molds to use.

Well really Optimus is way out of proportion in the classics line anyway. And really I think of those two as being big guys anyway considering their beast modes.

How about repainting Vector Prime into a Generation 1 homage to Scattershot?

I always thought Optimal would be great repainted into Apeface, but it seems so wrong to take that figure and repaint it into someone so obscure and tertiary.

It's really too bad that titanium Optimal didn't have his beast mode (AFAIK), because that would have been a great option.

As far as Vector Prime, I attacked mine with some gold and watered down silver paint. There's a lot of nice details on that figure which don't show up as is. The original, untouched one is stuffed away waiting for me to do something with it.

Ideas that occur to me would be The Last Autobot, because his VP's Classics repaint doesn't quite do the fellow justice, or completely random, a Star Warsish paint scheme. Make him look a bit like a Star Destroyer maybe.

Another strange idea would be to make him into a pre-Unicron Fallen.



As far as your Primal and Megatron are concerned, the idea of repainting them fills me with woe, as my Megatron broke long ago, and I never got the little Optimus, so I would be happy to have them as is. That said however, Beastbox and Overkill come to mind, assuming you don't want to just repaint them into completely new characters. Would also be interesting to see what you would get if you applied their pre-transmetal colorschemes to their transmetal molds.

with the vacuum metalized parts, the colors are just a transparent paint over it. if you try to strip the shiny off it wouldn't really work but the color would come off and leave you with a shiny chrome that you could color witn a transparent paint to the colors needed and still preserve the vacuum metalization.
