They could be portrayed as the bumbling jerks or something like that. A bully. An Oscar-the-grouch type of character. Something more geared toward the kids, but with a bad attitude or something. The Decepticon could set the bad example or do something wrong, but everyone learns from the Decepticon's mistake. It'd be a fun way to integrate characters like Soundwave, Starscream, Shockwave and of course Megatron into a series geared toward the kiddies.
Hoping that Optimus and Bumblebee make it into the show since we saw their Robot Heroes toys at Toy Fair 2011.
Or like how the villains are done on the Marvel Super Hero Squad show. It's actually cool they are doing a show for the younger audience, my son will love it. He likes Transformers(like his old man, lol) but some of the darker shows(BW,BM,Prime) he won't watch. So I'm sure with this being more vibrant and bright(like most kid's shows) he really enjoy it.
I'd be game for that, just to see the bad guys get a little attention. Seems like it'd loose kids interest pretty quick if all they did was save kitties out of trees, put out forest fires, and save kids who fell out of a boat.
My 23 month old daughter calls Transformers "Daddy's Mans" or just "Mans". I love it. And she runs around the house yelling "TOP OF THE MOON!" which I think she picked up on from me talking about Dark of the Moon. Or maybe not. That's the only thing we can think of though. And she knows who Orko is from my MOTU collection. That's the only character I've introduced the name to, I'm trying to keep her as innocent as possible which is really difficult considering what a major part of my life Transformers are ... as well as having an entire basement full of these toys.

Seriously? Your complaining about a franchise that has a show made for kids, that was designed to be aimed at kids in the first place? What if people had that attitude in the 80's? Or even in the 90's when TF were trying to stay alive?
This is a great way to introduce young kids to our hobby, and all you can do is shun it becuase you because it doesn't apeal to you. Unbelievable.![]()
It seriously amazes me that you and other that are putting his series down can be so damn selfish. This behavior is indefensible and you should be ashamed!

But then sombody decided to take the popularity of the movie and capitalize on the toddlers market and we get these:
1. Transformers Animated
2. Transformers Prime (basically Animated and movie combined)
3. Rescue Bots
Does anyone else see the downward trend in age groups these cartoons are being designed for ??? Or am I the only one not in denial ??? At this rate number 4 on the list is going to be at the level of Gumby or Sesame Street. In the toy lines they made Generations and RTS with us older collectors in mind. So where is our freakin cartoon ???

Well, it'll most likely be for the preschool age range, so there can't really be anything that'll require any "dumbing down" if it's not already at the mindset for that age range.Autobot032 wrote:Sounds adorable. I just hope they don't dumb it down. Kids are too dang smart. Prime is definitely not for little kids.
I think it's a great idea.
It'll probably be like the Rescue Heroes cartoon was where the protagonists are a special ops rescue force designed to handle natural disasters and emergency responses.Mektek Smoketreader wrote:Who are the bad guys gonna be? If they import bad guys to end up generating the needs for rescue missions, the education on how to cause harm is there, and as such, then there's no point in stopping kiddies from watching Prime and therefore no point in this advertisement show.
Okay, now you're contradicting yourself, Sly. First you say that you're in support of this kid-friendly, non-violent series, and now you're defending the need for unfriendly violence in all this? Which side of the argument are you on?SlyTF1 wrote:Noideaforaname wrote:Movies: GIVE ME YOUR FACE

Yeah, I can see why Hasbro would try a more kid friendly approach.
Actually, I really love this idea of venerating heroes that don't have to kill anyone. Saving the day needn't involve shooting anyone up.
YES IT DOES!
This! While something can be targeted a toddlers, that does not excuse any lack of competence and logic in its story and characters. Something can be for kids and still be good if it has effort and dignity put into it.Supreme Convoy wrote:I hope it's quality kids programming!

Autobot032 wrote:I know I'm stating the obvious with this post, but oh well. Here comes Captain Obvious! *swoops in*
We were kids once.
Oh wait, what's this? We were kids when TransFormers first hit the shelves and airwaves? *LE GASP*
A large number of us were between the ages of 3-12 (and the some, in some people's cases) when TransFormers hit the airwaves. It was silly, it was hammy, and it taught kids lessons with PSAs.
We ate it up like candy, and our parents couldn't fork out money fast enough to buy it all up. And buy it up they did, in droves.
No one complained, no one had debates like TRUKK NOT MUNKEY or something equally lame, we all just enjoyed the toys and show and we were content.
Then, shows like Batman The Animated Series came along and showed us and adults that kids shows could appeal to a wide audience, and because of this they went for more adult themes. Not enough to make the show unwatchable for kids, but enough that it was coming close to the line without crossing it.
TransFormers couldn't cut the mustard in a situation like that, G2 proved it. The show and toys failed miserably.
If it wasn't for Jurassic Park appealing to the kid in all of us, we might never have received the TF goodness that is Beast Wars. Here was a TF show that was for the kids, but dark enough for adults to find enjoyable. They even threw in oneliners that went over a kid's head, but adults would wink and nod at. That was the first step in the wrong direction.
Then we had the mindbending Beast Machines that neither kids nor adults could stand, so they dumbed the property down again for RID and the Unicron Trilogy.
Then, after people complained and complained, we got what we wanted, a live action movie that would cater to us. And they delivered. It was violent, it had unnecessary adult humor, and it most certainly wasn't for kids.
It's sequel? Even more violent, and shocking. And for the first time in TF history, an official piece of TFdom...dropped us the F-Bomb. Are you kidding me? Kids can't see that!
The next movie? It's supposed to be even darker, and I quote "when they die, they stay dead this time".
We have Generations.
We have Reveal The Shield.
We have Hunt For The Decepticons.
We have TransFormers Prime.
What do the kids have? A handful of toys that are accessible to them, with a media tie-in that isn't.
How many parents would buy a toy for their children when the kids can't even watch the show it's tied into? I don't know of many. I know my parents wouldn't let me buy something I couldn't be a part of.
So, now, Hasbro is going back to basics and focusing on Children, where this all started. Giving them a show with MORALS, uplifting stories, REAL heroes, and TF characters they can embrace, and even transform.
Those kids will grow up and adapt and learn to love the movie verse toys and the movies, and Prime and all that jazz, but when they're ready. It shouldn't be shoved down their throats like it is now. And it is, because how else can they enjoy TFs if they don't watch what's available now? Most parents won't go to the trouble to dig up G1.
Oh, and the most important part? They shouldn't have to.
There should be a piece of the TransFormers pie for everyone. That most definitely includes children.
Some of you are being so selfish, so ungrateful for what you do have, that you can't see the forest for the trees.
What do you want? Because whether or not you realize it, you've gotten exactly what you asked for.
And you're owed nothing. NOTHING. And you got it all.
Give the kids what they DESERVE, and shut up. Enjoy what they can't (which is almost 100% of the property), and let them have their cake and eat it too.
Just stop!
Well, on David Letterman, Optimus admitted that his father always wanted in to be a Rabbi.MINDVVIPE wrote:HAH just saw Optimus Prime on family guy... apparently he's jewish.
Me too. They form a perfected contrast between each other. I like putting these two together because of how far away on the spectrum these two are from each other. One's uber dark and mature, the other's very light and youthful. The two are like complementary opposites.D-340 wrote:I actually loved Beast Machines and RID. If you had ever given Animated a fair viewing chance, you would have seen that it is far from being what one would call "kiddie". In spite of its outwardly childish appearance, there lying beneath the surface was a serious (and, at times, very dark) show. Anyone could pull off something that mainly kids could enjoy. The same goes for adult shows. But the plot of Animated was so good that it could be seen as enjoyable for both kids and adults, which is simply fantastic. It wasn't too happy-go-lucky, nor was too to gritty and brooding. There were times where it was light and comedic and times where it wore a serious face. It even kept a realistic feeling to it at times while still retaining a slight sci-fi appeal. It didn't talk down to its audience or hide controversial topics from them, but told the story in a way that made it feel real and believable without straying too far away from the realm of escapist fantasy. It kept things focused and featured strong character development for just about everyone. One-dimensional characters were far and few, being limited mostly to guest characters and some figures of comic reflief. The jokes were funny and well thought out, harking references to past TF series that any long-time fan would catch and smile at. Speaking of which, the references and homages covered nearly EVERY past series. Most of them were to G1 and Beast Wars, though Beast Machines, RiD, the Unicron Trilogy, the first Bay Movie, and even Transtech got homages. Even Kiss Players got referenced!Rated X wrote:1. Hate to burst your bubble (or... mend it?), but Prime is here to stay. Hasbro's going in full force with it for the next decade or so. They've already got the third and fourth seasons in preproduction.Nico wrote:Hey remember when I made a joke about a really kiddy cartoon? Guess I was right. Also, we can kiss Prime goodbye now.

If there are any bad guys, they may wind being portrayed as simply "misguided" indivdiuals who see the error of their ways by the end of each episode.
Optimus Prime,in TF:Prime, tried to convince the Decepticon flyer (I forget his name right now) to join the Autobots. How different is that to the above?

Pretty much correct on the whole Human Alliance angle. All six figures have human partners.First-Aid wrote:Oh wow! I admit, I am very impressed. Those are very cool figures...I'm betting we're looking at an almost "Human Alliance" type of thing as each bot looks like they had a human assistant- dressed the same way I might add.
