Yes there was one in die-cast, BT-17 Wonderfest Black Convoy.

If they're planning to produce it in Prime colors, then my guess is that Takara is trying to find an excuse to reissue the character. KISS Players Convoy was an extremely popular figure in Japan. He flew off the shelves in a day. I couldn't believe how fast he went especially since the mold is not that fantastic.

The Japanese really love Prime/Convoy. When the Ford truck mold was in the prototype stage Hasbro and Takara had lots of talks about which character it should be. I believe Hasbro wanted Trailbreaker. But Takara was not keen on the character idea. They weren't even keen on the truck mold because they thought it wouldn't sell since real Ford trucks are extremely rear to see in Japan. So Takara pushed for the character to be Optimus Prime. This probably fits in with the KISS saga too. Anyway, KISS Convoy turned out to be a very popular character, so my guess is that Takara is looking to repeat history again, but with a die-cast version now.

Should have been Hoist. The mold fits him better. Maybe Hasbro can do a Hoist out of that truck.

when this figure was introduced for the new BT, it said that it is unclear on what color it would be. It would be nice if it was a dark green and make it Hoist. But if it a lime green or yellow color, please no.

To tell you the truth, I couldn't stop laughing when I first saw these. What were they smoking?

If we get 1 good repaint out of 10, I'll be happy. Just as long as they keep it going, how can we complain?

It will be fun to see how ridiculous they can get before offering a new mold, if they ever do.

Alternator line has been terminated long ago. It's unlikely they'll produce new molds.

You know, what was Alternators/BT to begin with? A line made up mostly of repaints, almost entirely of repaints, so… what’s the big shock here?
