First Classics Wave 1 previews, and now a CGI fight scene from the original TF movie.... I think I just had a g1-gasm!

Now had Bay done it that way, I would've been satisfied. I second all the praise above. Going to watch it now for the however-many-th time...

ps: I can understand why they ommited Hot-Rod's appearance (fewer bots to animate and wanting to make sure to focus on the two main characters for the promo), but... it's still Hot Rod's fault.

I was thinking the same thing. A PS3/360 game based on G1—that has graphics like that and doesn't suck! C'mon Atari, I know you can make another awesome TF game!

My 3 months car has been in the garage for a month, I have to skip snowboarding trip to save cash but that just made me feel 100% better.

I agree that an entire series or the G1 movie remade like that would be amazing but do you really think these CGI designs would have worked in the Bay movie?

Now, I wouldn't buy the G1 (series or movie) again, if done in CGI. I already know the stories, I don't need that kind of graphics to go with it, and the new graphics wouldn't be able to hide the problems with the story and the cel animation is part of the charm.

Similar with the 2007 movie, the current movie designs were a big minus, the designs in this clip would have been a plus, but the ultimate decision maker are story and character presentation, which apparently wasn't that great (and I readthe raving good reviews, the raving bad reviews and those in the middle).
If they had done the 2007 with the designs in this clip, I still wouldn't have bothered to see it. Because graphic means jack if there is nothing behind it.

If this would have been the same quality of animation for Armada Prime and Megatron you would be bitching up a storm.

This is not "great" CGI in the slightest.

Its pretty cool, but Jesus Christ if it has anything to do with G1 you guys bite onto the bait that Hasbro throws out like you guys were dogs.

The CGI may not be great compared to that from the movie but its way better than we got in Cybertron. The moving camera adds some dynamics to a scene that would look flat with a static camera or scrolling backdrop.

I am happy to eat up anything G1 that comes my way as its where my fondest memories of the line live.

I love G1, but I'm not going bite Hasbro/Takara's bait just because its G1.

I won't even do that for Beast Wars or Robots in Disguise which are my two favorites

Faith? In what exactly? They havent promised us anything, it's just a nice video clip. People are simply airing their views that it would be nice to see a full blown series or film in that style. Faith, no. Hope, yes.

They are pretty much claiming its the greatest thing since sliced bread and Bay's movie is crap in comparison.

This 1:19 minute long video is so much better than the first episode of Transformers Animated. Don't get me wrong, I am watching Transformers Animated and I thought the Dinobot episode was great. However, seeing Optimus Prime and MEGATRON(get the hint show producers) duking it out in CGI goodness is probably better than the original movie version. However it should be noted that Megatron won the CGI fight fair and square, Hot Rod didn't interfere.

What a great video! This is how they should do the next TF series. Maybe they can redo the whole 86 movie using cgi and make it a direct to video release.

Megatron didn't win, he got knocked off the cliff.

and Megatron isn't repaired yet in Transformers Animated.

But he's been in a majority of the episodes talking to Sundac

If they had done something like this, we ALL would have been out there in droves. We ALL would have promoted the movie to everyone we know like you wouldn't have believed. We ALL would have gone to see it at least a dozen times each.

It really would have been amazing beyond my wildest imagination if they had done it. It's really to sad to imagination what COULD have been.

All the comments are positive because it's G1 with updated animation. That's all they need to do. Take G1, tweak some of the stories to fix the continuity errors, and really great animation (CG or traditional). Not that Animated "style" crap.

Pointing out that this clip is better than Bay's Humans, er I mean Transformers movie isn't so much a claim as a statement of the obvious.

Usually I'd agree with you based entirely on the fact that we have same same taste in hot broads. But this time, I have to disagree.

I don't know who "they" are or who is saying that the new movie is crap compared to a minute and nineteen seconds of CGI. Do I think it's the best CGI? No, not by a long shot. Hells, the G1 game for PS2 has sharper cut scenes. But it's the fact that they cut a small promo like this just to make so many fans smile with anticipation for Universe. It's not like they are laying claim that they will re-do the old movie like that. It's nothing more then a little something for collectors and fans alike. You know how often the fandom complains that "Hasbro gives them nothing"

That is a big something to a lot of people.

To re-cap, Shelly Martinez is still smokin' hot.

Meh, as much as I love G1, I still think Animated is doing a better job at not:

1) Having dead people show up in the background all the time.

2) Making three separate origins stories for the same characters (Constructicons, anyone?).

3) Not making light of the Decepticons. Only in the movie did they seem to pose an actual, serious threat. And by 'making light' I don't mean being comical, Triple Trouble was my all time favorite episode of the entire series.

4) Giving the Dinobots a stupid reason for existance. Ie 'Hey, I've got an idea! Lets take a huge extinct animal and recreate in in robotic form! Only with no brains! And lets make them ten times stronger than us! Yeah thats a good idea!'

5) Having stupid human villans. Seriously, I even prefer Meltdown to Lord Chumley, as hilarious as he is.

I could probably think of more, but I think I've made my point.

That being said, that CGI video was quite possibly one of the coolest things I've ever seen Transformers-related. I loved the Bay movie for what it was, but I wouldn't complain at all to see a revival of G1 using these kinds of visuals. Awesome stuff.

I liked how the video transitioned from cartoon to the CGI. It probably made it more exciting than it should have been, but still, cool video.
